The Survivers (IC)
The world, well what is left of it anyway is in tatters. Looters, thieves, bandits, whatever you call them that is whats left. A viral plague, a mutation of the rabies virus allowed it to become airborne. It was renamed “hydrofever” because a strange side effect of the virus was an acute fear of water, causing dehydration to ensue. Entangled with this, is that the virus causes complete devastation of the central nervous system causing heart failure within fifty four hours. Those that are left now, either have a natural immunity, or haven’t been exposed yet. The plague has gotten more than just the common man, most if not all the leaders of the world have been either killed by the Fever, or killed by other things. Due to the lack of a hierarchy in modern society, anarchy ensued. Over the course of one week, civilization collapsed. Modern utilities, power, many of the creature comforts of modern life evaporated. As such, either through choice or because of circumstances has forced you, you have began wonder about looking for a new place to rebuild. You may have found this place but you’re not alone…
The warehouse was a large 50,000 square foot building. The bottom floor had a machine shop with an assortment of tools from several types of industrial tools, to standard power tools such as drills, saws, grinders etc etc. The problem is, is that there is no power, no running water, no AC. The machine shop has a second floor, this floor for the moment is set of old offices that look like they have been in disrepair, but its stable and once power is restored it could be made into something livable. This warehouse/machine shop is hidden towards the back of a massive complex with several massive buildings, each one with a former purpose, though for the moment those purposes are unknown for the moment….
---
Inside the warehouse on the first floor, a dingo had collected about twenty or so truck batteries. She was in the process of daisy chaining the batteries together to make a massive battery bank out of the batteries, it would allow her to get some power going in the warehouse, hopefully allow her to get some lighting. Though that would only allow about seven days of power at best if she can’t build something that would allow her to charge the batteries, hopefully she could find something that could last longer. But one thing at a time, Along with her, their where two others a coyote and a Rabbit she found on her way here, they where upstairs at the moment and that rubbed just the wrong way. “CJ! Ellie! Get your tails down here and help me before I find a more interesting use for your hides! We’ll have power faster if you help me!” She sounded irritated, she was irritated.
She reached in her pocket to grab a cigarette and lit it. If anyone was watching they would have seen her take a short but satisfied drag on the cigarette. She blew a puff of smoke through her nose, before looking around at her new home. It wasn’t all that she wanted, hell it wasn’t a tenth of what she wanted, but it was what they had and she was going to have to make do. They needed water as well; they had yet to make a filter for water and that had her concerned but for now, this was their main problem along with the water but they had clean water for a few days so it ranked second for now to electricity.
To anyone outside walking through the industrial compound the machine shop would look closed up, and uninhabited for the moment…
Warehouse from the air. Dots at warehouse in question.

Immediate area: Blue arrow is pointing to a river.

C.J. would head out of the make shift living quarters, taking a turn here and there, before finally heading towards the stairs, he'd head down the with loud clomps for his boots. Once he had reached the bottom, he'd head towards the dingo, hopping over rusty tools and such.
He'd heave a sigh once he saw all of the batteries thinking to himself, -She doesn't waste time... whelp, might as well see what she wants.- Once upon her, he would be looking down at her, "What'cha need, Boss-Lady?" He'd take a more relaxed stance.

Re: The Survivers (IC)
Mika had been wondering around for a while, looking for a place to hang out for a while. So far, the only place she'd found had been a rundown shed, but one look inside had told her the place was a disaster area and had stopped any thoughts of taking up residence. She hefted her survival pack into her right hand from her left and checked the straps on her backpack.
Satisfied that everything was in order, Mika clicked her beak and took a look around. There was really nothing left but a warehouse on her left. It looked promising, seemingly abandoned, but it also seemed boarded up good and she didn't have any of the necessary tools to remove the boards, not that she would have known how to do so anyways.
She let out a sigh, deciding that a little shade from the sun was better than nothing. Making her way to the shaded side of the warehouse, she sat down with a sigh and stared at the sky. She was still wrapping her mind around everything that had happened and still hoped she would wake up and find out it had all been a bad dream.
Slowly she made herself relax and she started humming softly as she checked her feathers, ever the self aware avian.

Re: The Survivers (IC)
Ellis perks one of his large ears up at the voice and makes his way back down stairs. "Those batteries won't last too long. If we get our hands on some solar panels or build a windmill, they could be used to hold a charge for when the power on the windmill fails.
He reaches the bottom floor. "Depending on what you want to do, it might be wiser to wire those up in parallel. If we do that, they'll last longer, but we won't get quite as much current and voltage, but if we wire them in series, we might have enough power to power an arc welder, for an hour or two."

Re: The Survivers (IC)
Ben slipped around a corner, his eyes roving over the area. He held his combat knife in an unorthodox reverse grip, in his right hand.
Nobody in sight.
The Drakel leapt out of cover, ducking beneath a downed streetlamp and entering the industrial complex.
"<An Enforcer without his Blade,>" he growled to himself, in his species' shared language. It was unique to the Drakel, however, and only a few linguists had ever learned to understand it, let alone speak it.
"<What was I thinking?>" he continued to himself, trying to remember the reason he hadn't brought the sword that he had been given, when he had been chosen as an Enforcer, with him to America.
He cut through one of the empty buildings in the complex, intending use the warehouse as shelter, at least for one day.
He came up to the closed door, and slammed his fist into it twice; effectively a knock on the door.

Re: The Survivers (IC)
“What I need is….” Nelle heard a knocking on the warehouse building. “On Second thought, Ellie, I need these daisy chained together so I can get some power to run some power tools. CJ, whoever is outside is under the second floor offices. Because that the direction from which the sound is coming from. Open a window and ask what they want.” She grabbed a fairly large metal rod. “I’m going to come around the side, in case should he or she be hostile…” She walked across the machine shop to a side door on the other side of the building. It was going to be a fairly short walk to the other side of the building, though when she opened the door she nearly tripped over the doormat. She realized it wasn’t a doormat a moment later when she went to look at the 'Doormat.' She saw an avian female sitting there. “Oh hello…um do you have a name, or should I call you doormat?” She looked down at the bird taking a drag on her cigarette…

Re: The Survivers (IC)
Mika meeped in surprise as the door swung open. She stood, flustered and smoothing her feathers. She looked at the dingo who addressed her and clicked her beak a couple times before replying, "Sure do have a name, and luckily, it isn't doormat. I'm Mika, Mika Kitzmer. Didn't mean to cause any trouble," she said gesturing at the metal pipe the dingo was holding, "so I'm hoping that's not meant for me. Do you mind if I ask your name?"

"Right, wire them in parallel, got it." Ellis looks to the batteries and begins to line them up nice and orderly. Then he takes a buch of cables that had been gathered and begins to wire them up. Positive to positive to positive to positive to positive....
Once he finishes Wiring up all the batteries, he looks to the door Nelle exited out of. He heads that away and listens carefully from inside the warehouse.

Re: The Survivers (IC)
The Drakel jumped violently when the window slammed open, and he raised his knife defensively.
"I was merely looking for shelter!" he shouted back after a long pause, slowly sheathing the knife, "I was not aware that someone would be here."

Re: The Survivers (IC)
"Nope, someone is out front beating on the door. I'm going to flank him...in any case, I was. My Name is Nelle, Nelle Kozera..." She blew a puff of smoke in the direction of the bird. "Thats looks like a disaster kit, you from the hospital?" It was an honest question, and she would have loved to have something with some medical training around in the warehouse. If she could grab her, she would.

Re: The Survivers (IC)
Mika smiled, "That's exactly what it is Nelle and yes I am. Certified and everything for things ranging from treating wounds, to replacing organs, to increasing feminine assets," she giggled a little at that last one, "you looking for a doctor, cause in all honestly, I'm looking for a place to stay and you're the first civil person I've met this week."

Re: The Survivers (IC)
Nelle smiled with he cigarette in her muzzle still. "Then welcome, it isn't much but we can provide some shelter for the good doctor." She pointed to the open door. "Inside there is a bunny. Tell him Nelle said to show you the offices, which is where we are staying. I'll see if can get them renovated into something livable in the near future." She said, "But I have to go make sure I can break a leg or two out front." She smiled, before turning around. "Get your self settled in Mika." She walking away, it wasn't long before she went around the corner and out of site. She had another stretch of building blocking her view. When she did find the person in question she was still out of site for now, but she heard him speak.
"I was merely looking for shelter!"
"Looking for shelter are you..." She walked around front, hold the large steel pipe in her hands. "You have a reason why I should shelter you? Anything you are particularly good at?"

Mika smiled and slowly stepped into the warehouse, "Don't shoot, I spoke with Nelle," she looked around and spotted Ellis, skipping over to him, "you must be the bunny I'm suppose to see. Nelle told me to tell you to show me the offices, but if you're busy I can wait."

Re: The Survivers (IC)
Judas dug his claws into the roof of a car, and slowly started to rock it back and forth, listening carefully for the telltale sloshing sound that would tell him there was still fuel in the vehicle. nothing but the dry crunching of bad joints and rusted suspension. The panther cursed under his breath and pulled his claws free, glancing around for an unmarked car to check. he was finding himself having to search further and further every week for new fuel sources. "Goddammit..."
He picked his bag back up and strapped it back across his back eying the other cars nearby with a closer eye. all of them had the mark on them... "Fuck" he swore again, three days of hunting to bring back -maybe- two, two and a half weeks of fuel. three days leaving his boat without any protection aside form the various booby traps he'd set up, but those would only hold for so long. he started his treck again, heading more west from the harbor the boat had been moored in, he needed a higher vantage point, somewhere he would be able to see more of the cars to see if they had the marks left on them. he glanced around and found a rather large warehouse to be the largest thing in sight, next came finding a way up since no one could be seen from the corner he was looking at. a couple old crashed cars made for a decent ladder, leaving a short jump to grab the edge of the roof and pull himself up. as quietly as he tried to move along it, every footfall echoed across the roof, and more than likely, anyone inside would hear it with a resounding clearity. he started along one of the edges, moving further along it as he kept and eye out for the unmarked cars

Re: The Survivers (IC)
The knife came flashing back out, and he held it defensively.
"I'm a Wilderness Ranger," he said, standing his ground. He didn't move forwards, which would seem aggressive, or move backwards, which would seem submissive.
"An Enforcer," he continued, "However little you've heard about the Drakel, you will have heard of the Enforcers."

Re: The Survivers (IC)
"Correction, no i have never heard of an enforcer, nor do I give a shit about them. Your standing at the front of my place. Which means you answer to me. Which means, if all your going to tell me which organization you belonged to before the fall of Civilization. You can turn around and march your sorry hide right out of this complex. Now i'll ask again, what skills do you have that warrant me letting into my citadel. Your former rank, or what ever hoopla you belonged to before will not not help you here. So stop swinging around like it means something to me." She yawned waiting for him to respond, she had already thought up some uses for him, but she was sure he wouldn't like some of them.

The Drakel grumbled to himself, then spoke again.
"I have some survival training in the Australian outback, and I've been to boot camp. I'm good with a gun. And I don't get lost. Ever... Oh, and I'm good with swords, too, but I... well, I left my Enforcer Blade back in Australia..."

Mika smiled at Ellis, "I'm Mika, Mika Kitzmer. Trained as a nurse in the beginning, but then I went on and got some training for the E.R. and O.R., so I'm pretty versatile in the medical field, just please don't ask me how to fix a defibrillator, I made the last one I tried to fix even more broken," she stopped and her head snapped toward the ceiling, "do you hear that? It sounds like someone's on the roof."

Re: The Survivers (IC)
"I would probably be the one to go to for a fix on a defibrillator," he says as he looks up, his ears perking up. "You're right." He goes over to the window where CJ was at, then goes to an adjacent one and shouts, "Nelle, there's someone on the roof!"

"Christ..." She said looking up, before looking back at the Lizard in front of her, because to her that was all he was at the moment. "Well Swords will not help you here, frankly you could only be good to me as a monkey. By Monkey I mean Grunt, by grunt I mean tool boy. Because I don't think you'll be good for much else..." She could here the person on the roof as well. "HEY! Who the hell is on my roof?!" The dingo voice was projected very loudly, that girl had some bass to her voice.

The Drakel sighed.
"Give me a gun, and I'll be a sentry," he said, "I've got a little mechanical knowledge, but you'd have to teach me anything specific; I don't want to go fooling around with something if I don't know what I'm doing."

Shit There had been people in the warehouse. he paused as the females voice carried over the roof, deciding whether to cut his losses and just get gone before they actually saw him, or stay and see what happened. A faint creak behind him told him his first choice of 'get gone before they saw him' had just gone up in a nice blaze. He stepped easy has he made his way to the edge of the roof the voice had come from, he crouched a foot or so from the edge, putting one of his large paws on his knees to balance himself as the other pushed his shades back on his head.
"Apologies miss..." he paused as though waiting for her to give a name before continuing "I wasn't aware anyone was using this warehouse, Hope ya don't mind if an 'ol fisherman tries to get his bearings up here, I'll be on my way right quick"

"Checking and changing the oil doesn't count." She said looking at the Drakel "Plus, don't even think I trust you enough to allow you to have a firearm around this place anytime soon." She heard someone say mis. "My name is Nelle, and it seems people have found this place a hot spot to gather." She sighed for a moment before realizing that he said he was a fisherman "Wait your a fisherman?" She asked though it was rhetorical "Right well I have no problem then, you can even stay if you want to we need someone that can bring in some fresh food." She waved for him to come down.
"Now back to you..." She said looking back to the drakel. "He has something we need, you not so much, but i do need a tool boy and basic go get me things monkey. So you can stay if you want, but that is mostly what your going to be used for. And if the time comes where we need someone to beat something over the head of someone stupid enough to try and break in, you more than free to do that. In the mean time you going to being busting your tail working like the rest of us."
