The Apocalypse (IC)
[[Here it goes.]]
We met by soldier who had orders to locate survivors. He gathered us together as he searched. But by the time he gathered the last of us, it was nearly night-time, when the zombies come out. There are not many zombies, and they're not highly aggressive, however they're still dangerous - especially if there's only one armed man in the group.
"S***." The soldier commented as the sun sank beyond the mountains in the distance. "I was too slow."
He ran us to an abandoned warehouse on the corner of a couple major roads. "This place is probably the safest place around, ain't much to look at though."
He went around the building and locked the doors and windows, while he was upstairs we would here him shout "S***!" again. He ran back downstairs and went to the open garage door. "You all stay in here!" He fumbled in one of his pockets, "Take this doctor. It's a 'survival' map, made by the military. They drew these up for any area we might run into. It's a very simple map that shows buildings of interest and how dangerous certain areas are... I have to go now. Stay in here and be quite!" He yanked down on the garage door then jumped down under it before it shut, locking us in complete darkness.
Minutes went by before gunshots sounded from a distance, lots of them, before it finally stopped. The next morning we were on our own.

Re: The Apocalypse (IC)
[[Pardon where I put the picture in the first post, for some reason it stay attached even though I deleted it from the text, and I can't seem to remove it. Looks like picture quality was lost. Up top the main road leads to '^ The Next Town' and to the left limit is '< To The City' to the bottom limit is 'To The Country']]

1. - An old machine repair depot. Offers excellent options, but has countless entrances, making it hard to defend. It's also quite obvious, so will attract more people anyway.
2. - A 3 story apartment complex. It's nummerous and fully-decoted rooms allow everyone to have their own personal spaces. However, as a large apartment complex there was a high population of people there. It's probably crawling with zombies.
3. - The safest choice for a base. It's a small warehouse. It's been abandonned even before the apocalypse and won't even have power and water during the 'grace period'. Few entrances, few windows, and in a low-population area it will be quite safe.
4. - Residetial District. Series of homes. Great place to find things you need. Food, mechanicle parts, well possibly, people might have taken it all left them when you left. In any case, as a high population area it could be very dangerous.
5. - Down Town. Use to be a nice place to just walk down the street, now that wouldn't be recommended. Anyway, it's a good place to get food.
6. - One-story appartment buildings. Not in a safe surrounding area, so not an option as a starting location. However, at one story high not many people lived there, it's safer to explore than the three story building.
7. - Clothing stores - Self explainatory
8. - Parking Zone - Few cars left, most took their cars and fled. Most operating cars that got left behind got jacked. All that that will probably be left is broken cars.
9. - These buildings are sealed off and unlabled, hard to tell what's inside, if there's anything in there at all.
10. - Private elementary school. Anything expected to be seen in a school is in there.
? - It's hard telling if these buildings are safe are not, while they are in almost no population areas they are important areas, which could have attracted all kinds of scum and villiany
The redder the area surrounding a building the more dangerous it is. Black numbers on buildings indicate the ones you can choose as 'home base'.
You are currently in building 3.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right now you all are in flawless condition. You have 10 action points. When you do something I will tell you how much it consumes. For the first three in-game days you will still have 10, after that it will drop to 8 unless you eat more than your share of rations.
Remember the basics of survival:
Food
Water
Shelter
Security
Although these are the most important, you won't be fully happy unless you take care of secondary needs too. Hygiene would one example of a secondary need.

Re: The Apocalypse (IC)
[[Know that was a lot to take in, but the game can begin.]]
No-one got much sleep last night, not only was they're nothing to sleep on, but the thought of the soldier being overrun by zombies was devastating. No one had been in the mood to talk either, but now they have to if they want to survive.
"That poor poor man..." the doctor shook his head in disbelief as he finally came back to Earth. "It can't be helped, he sacrificed himself to save us. Speaking of which, we should look at this map he gave us." He took it out and placed it on an empty box near the middle of the room so they could all look at it.
"I don't think we had the chance to properly introduce ourselves. Seeing as we might be together for a long time, it'll be a good idea to get to know each other well. My name is Malcom Arrow, I'm a doctor... And apparently a maned wolf now too."

Avari lifted her head from its bowed position. She was sitting with her legs drawn up close, arms wrapped around her knees. Her eyes fixed Malcom with their gaze as she spoke, "Avari, Avari Mesrobian," her voice was rather husky, but still feminine, "I'm a hunter and apparently a dragon now. And personally, I find this completely insane. Zombies out there, us in here, no body helping us..."
She stood and walked over to where Malcom had set down the map and examined it, "Well, it seems we're in as good of place as any for the moment."

Re: The Apocalypse (IC)
[[One thing I almost forgot to mention. Main power is still on, but not for long. The characters are aware it's on, and will run out soon, but don't know exactly when]]
"There's not as many zombies out there as you might think. The virus isn't transmittable, and most people were immune to it in the first place like us. Not to mention most the population evacuated the city in the first place." The doctor sighed, "I'm not saying they're not dangerous though, obviously the event from last night proves that. Also, they hate light, so in the day we won't see them anywhere except in shelter."

((Sorry for the short post, but there wasn't much more for him to say or do at the moment))
Asaf's head shot up, and he snapped "How come you know so much about them, eh? And what makes you think they're zombies? They could just be diseased or... or mental or something"

"They're trying to kill us for fucks sake! Hell, most of 'em are probably trying simply to eat us! regardless if we're alive or dead!" the brown fennec spoke up "Who the hell cares WHAT the fuck they're called!" he grumbled something unintelligible as he fumbled around in his bag for a moment before pulling a beat up pack of ciggs out and removed one of the few remaining ciggs that were in it and stuck it in his mouth, returning the pack to an inner pocket in his jacket, he started checking his various pockets muttering various curses as he came up empty each time for what he was looking for. "Fuck. where the Fuck is it?!" he did another quick pat down. his shoulders slumped and he looked to the ceiling as he realized it was no longer on him "...Shit...Anyone got a light on 'em?" he asked around the cigg in him mouth, finally acknowledging that there were others in the room aside from idiots babbling about whether the creatures outside were technically zombies or not
"Can't you even go a day without one of those damn cigarettes?" a cream colored Fennec asked, a look of disgust on her face at the memory of the smell
"I would rather not" he grumbled, rummaging around the place for something he could use to light up
Jenn brushed her faded blue jeans off as she stood "well, anyway...Names Jennifer," her voice shifted to what seemed to be her natural voice, a soft, calming voice "most just call me Jenn though, tall, dark and obsessed is..." she twirled her hand as though trying to remember a name that had never been given to her
"James" he stated flatly. she started as if to ask him to continue, to which he cut her off "Just...James."
She closed her mouth and started again "Alright then...I think we're both some kinda fox, fennec if I remember my species correctly"
A single small piece of wood on the floor caught James eye. a single match. he snatched it up in a quick movement, and at the same time grabbbed adn brought his wrapped tail around in front of him. using the abrasive wraps that his tail was tied in, he ignited the match and slowly lit the ciggerette in his mouth, then flicked out the match. hs shoulders relaxed as he took a deep draught on it. "Much better....now let's have a look a that map that's apperantly so interesting"

Re: The Apocalypse (IC)
Asaf frowned and slumped slightly, but said nothing. For a moment he sat tapping one of his rings on the floor absent-mindedly, but then leaned forward and glanced over the map. He pulled a dissatisfied expression, and then rapped on the white building to the far right of the map.
"That one, we'll go there. It's gotta be a mansion or an observatory or some shit. Bet they have scientists or government types or somethin' like that, they'll know what's going off. We can stop at this place on the way," he moved to tap on the building with a pistol printed on "pick up some guns or somethin', then carry on and make a little base when we get there. Gather supplies, call for help, contact the government, whatever"

Re: The Apocalypse (IC)
Avari let out a short laugh as she looked at Asaf, "You don't get it do you? The fact that that was the first place you thought would be good to go means it's a likely place for other people to go. Let's say there are people in there right now, who have stuff they need, that we need, why would they want to let us in? And your gun store, hah, that'll be the first place everyone goes. Now, supplies should be our first concern and downtown is right here," she pointed to it, then traced a path off to the right that lead down to the warehouse, "if we follow this path here, we can avoid the high-risk areas, except for the apartments here," she pointed, "so, it would probably be best if we scavenge by night, less chance to be seen that way."
She looked around at the warehouse, "And we could probably make this place a bit more defendable, which would make it a prime place to stay. Hell, anybody here know anything about fixing up cars, cause we may be able to find enough working parts in the parking lot and tools in the machine shop on the other side of the road to build us an escape vehicle."

Re: The Apocalypse (IC)
Asaf ground his knuckled into his head frustratedly "Escape to where? It's all well and good saying 'let's get the Hell outta here', but getting away from people means getting away from rescue. If we block ourselves in here, or if we run off to live in the forest for the rest of our lives, what do we do from there? We lose our chance of getting out of this mess, or of..." He looked at his paws "or of being healed"

"I know so much about them because I'm a doctor, and this affects us. I got to study it for a short time before I was forced from the hospital... Also, that building you pointed out isn't labeled by the military as a good place to start." He looked around the room, "However, this building isn't the best either, it's not attached ot the grid at all. I saw that other buildings still had power, it probably won't last long without any operators at the power plant though."
He shrugged, "I don't know much about that kind of stuff though. All I know is we need food and water, if we plan to survive at all.. Obviously Big Box Mart has all the supplies in the world, but looks like the military labeled it as extremely dangerous."

Re: The Apocalypse (IC)
Asaf huffed. "Fine, if we want to stick around here instead of trying to get rescued, we may as well work on surviving. Whatever's out there, whatever we're calling them, they ain't friendly, so if we're stayin' in this town we shouldn't go far. This is a Private School, right? I don't know how many of you got Private Educations, but I'm tellin' ya now, the food ain't bad at all. We ain't talkin' powdered potato and sloppy meat here. When it got evac'd I bet they left the kitchen as it was. Why take the food, right? It'll still all be there. Plus we can get, like... javelins and shit from the Gym. Protect ourselves," he said, before adding snidely "'Least till we decide getting guns would be a good idea"

Re: The Apocalypse (IC)
Avari was tapping a finger against the map irritatedly, eyes darting around at the speakers, finally snapping at Asaf, "All you wanna talk about is rescue, rescue, rescue! What damn rescue?! The only guy that knew about us is gone, GONE!! And I doubt that anyone else is coming this way," she stopped, leaning her head back and taking a deep breath before looking back at him, "look, I'm sorry, I'm not meaning to be mean, I'm just really tense. And I'm not saying guns are a bad idea, but how do we even know there will be any there, or if there are, that someone hasn't put claims on them?"
She moved away from the group collecting herself, muttering at herself, "Damn thing's going to get me in trouble, just gotta play it cool." Taking another sharp breath, she came back to the group, "I'm going to have to agree with bullet brain here, see what we can salvage from the school before going much further."

Re: The Apocalypse (IC)
Eyes widen a little bit at the mention of going to the school, "Wha? There's bound to be zombies in there, they're scared of light so they hide in buildings during the day. There's no zombies in this one, so I know it's safe. I'm staying here. If you are going though see what you can find in the nurses office. No matter what knowledge I have I can't help you without some equipment."

Asaf nodded at Connor. "You feel worse than you did last night? You're not the only one. Zombies" he muttered distastefully.
"Right, lets do this the simple way then. Vote for the school?" he raised a hand.

"We need to start somewhere. As far as I can tell the school is probably one of the more safe locations. However, my vote shouldn't count, since I won't be going out and taking the risk myself." Said the doctor.
