[I've been planning for a long time to just write a story based from this idea, but then I figured an RP could be funner. Considering there's a lot of RPS already going on though, a moderator or admin can delete my 'Strange New World RP' to clear up room.]

[The idea is this is humanity/furmanity's first true as life fully equipped space craft - Voyager 3. It has the earliest developments of sci-fi tech: fusion power and namely the first warp drive... Little do they know, amny alein eyes are watching this first flight - some with ill intentions]

[Casual RP for the most part, don't have to take it too hardcore... Actually, this might be a bit more soft-core Sci-Fi, because the sci-fi concepts won't be too far out there (Year is like 2050 or something)]

[There's a chance I'll make hte RP more solid if a lot of interest is shown for it]

I like the first and third designs. I guess the purpose of the ring structures is to use centrifugal force to create "artificial gravity", so I think they would rotate. Right?

The Warp, an alternate dimension that is literally composed of the worst nightmares of an entire galaxy's worth of humans and aliens, and is implied to serve as the 'afterlife' of the galaxy, if not the entire universe. And the only viable method of interstellar travel is to tear a hole in reality and send your ship hurtling into this nightmare void. Only, in the Warp, the nightmares really can come and get you. Said alternate dimension is made worse by the fact that it is ruled over by the four god-like incarnations of Rage, Deception, Despair, and Lust. And they all hate you. No exceptions. Even worse is that they could equally be the incarnations of Bravery, Hope, Acceptance and Love...

In the year 2011 the first 'furry' was created using a process similar to cloning that involved both human and animal DNA. For years the morality of their existence was heavily debated, all the while more were created. By the year 2036 the debate finally ended. Humanity saw the fact this anthro was a perfectly healthy adult and just as capable than any human - if not more so, however many humans still treated them poorly not unlike the description other human races suffered in America in the past.

It wasn't long until a new breakthrough emerged that made everyone forget about the furry debate in the past. In 2050 scientists discovered that by regulating a certain form of plasma through containment chambers that dark matter lingering about in space will collect around a vessel till it's deep enough to bend space itself. In other words the possibility of warp drive was found.

By 2065 the first successful dark matter drive was engaged, and the first FTL flight was made. By 2071the first vessel fit for interstellar travel was produced, Voyager 3 - in honor of the quite successful Voyager 1 & 2 probes. But now the furry debate is rising again, as now fully qualified furries are some of the candidates for the crew of this vessel - even the captain's chair. Many debate whether the most important jump for human kind should be headed by furries, a race which is only in it's 3rd generation of life...

Short Bio: He is a second generation fur, born to a pair of first generation parents and raised in a suburb of northern Wisconsin along lake superior. He was part of a small almost exclusively furry community (If those exist), and went to school with mostly other furs. After his stellar record in high school, he attended UW Madison and received a physics B.Sc. Following that, he attended MIT and obtained his masters then doctorate in his area of specialty, astrophysics, with a solid dose of applied physics on the side. Shortly after that, he signed on with NASA and began his training for this mission.

Area of Focus: Command, generally gives the routine orders unless the captain wants something done differently.

Skills: Apart from her main duty as commander, she also has skills that make her more useful. She's had training as a mental-health counselor. Although she's a little shy about it, she's also a good cook and likewise taking care of food-bearing plants - explains who mysteriously keeps the bio-bays producing food.

Short Bio: Sam is yet another second generation fur, most of the working population was. She has two cubs back home with their father. When Sam was old enough she finished school to move on into the military. Unlike back in the homeland, the military didn't care what species you were, just as long as you could do your weight of the work. She focused primarily in officer's training, but put some attention into counseling soldiers that were unnerved by the battles they had seen. She only recently left training in the military to begin training for space flight. With the advent of the dark matter drive she knew the demand for people with leadership capability would be high. It was more than she could ask for to be assigned to Voyager 3, even if she isn't captain.

Skills: His main focus is on the dark matter drive itself. However he knows the ship inside and out, even helped design it. He's also capable of repairing the ship, though some areas are hard on his back.

Short Bio: He was among some of the first furries created. Back then not many exotic animals had been introduced to the program yet, so his animal DNA was taken from one of the scientists dogs. He never found a mate. He rose through the worst of discrimination and hate to become a machanic, and when he gathered the funds he went to college for an engineering degree. When he heard of the experiments in dark matter warping, he knew it was a chance for him to excel where no furry had before. He went to NASA and to college again and focused on anything that would help him get a job in this new field. It took years of work on his part, and enormous determination to beat the odds and get signed onto this mission.

The good ones are taken and I already play a robot specialist in the final fronier rp so that one is halfway out too. Except we need one.
I cooked up a security character I like (that would look pretty much like this http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gal...easts/ravagore without the exaggerated spikes) but wonder if he would fit. Or a doctor (if we need one) or both. Spirtiual Advisor/Medium could be fun, too.

Short Bio: Second Generation fur born to furry parents she grew up in a small, ok very small town in northern New York which she was one of four furs to attention the also small school. Although a B student in high school, she was able to get into SUNY Buffalo where she went on to receive B.Sc in Physics along with a Masters as SUNY Buffalo before getting a PHD at Texas A&M courtesy of NASA. She was responsible for choosing many of the members on the current mission along with her part in planing, and getting funding for the mission she was given charge of the mission, much to the dismay of others..
