I'm definately interested in this, it seems just up my street. But I'd rather wait and see what kind of characters you guys make first. Not to copy them, obviously, but when you have a galaxy this big you don't want to make someone insignificant, but you don't want to be an arrogant SOB and make, say, "The President of the UNIVERSE and I have laser beams and can kill anyone by thinking it rofl :3 "

Appearance:
Phelan is, as described, a hybridization of feline and avian characteristics, a loose caricature of a gryphon. He has a narrow head with a black beak with a bright yellow cere, vertical ears and copper-colored eyes, all framed by a thick, mane-like ruff of soft, downy feathers that becomes much more pronounced and almost leonine when he‘s excited, angry, frightened, or just cold. He possesses scaly, yellow-hued talons with three digits and an opposable thumb as hands, but lacks wings and possesses an internal physiology more related to a dog than cat or bird. He has a thick cougar’s tail, black striped tip permanently bent at a cocked angle, a crooked set from having the tip closed in a door as a child. . His coloration is mostly brown, with bits of cream-white on what would correspond to his underbelly and the insides of his arms and thighs, and a smattering of black speckles on his upper chest where the brown ruff of feathers blends into for on his torso. He has a rough, almost feral build; sinewy, lean muscle structure that comes from repetitious physical labor, with an almost stocky, slightly short-legged proportioning; it appears as though he might be able to double-over and run on all fours, or that a recent ancestor may have been able to do so. You get the idea he never would, though, wild though he appears. A better comparison might be to say he has the physique of a boxer, to an extreme. He stands just over five and a half feet tall at the top of his head at comfortable stance, but in microgravity or while reaching for an overhead support, his legs can stretch his height up to at least 6‘2”, though at this height he becomes unbalanced in most planets’ gravity.

Personality:
Phelan can be described generally as either obnoxious or morose, depending almost exclusively on how much sleep he’s had in the last 36 hours. Spending 75% of your adult life mostly alone in space performing the rough equivalent of celestial garbage-picking for a living tends to make one a little bit kooky, and as a result, Phelan’s social skills often come across as a bit underdeveloped. Nevertheless, he’s usually friendly, possessing an often inappropriate and tasteless sense of humor which he‘s often more than willing to share with anyone around. He has a very strong sense of duty when he believes he’s protecting someone weak or innocent, but excels at creating excuses to keep himself out of potentially painful or dangerous situations when it‘s more practical. Phelan is sentimental to an almost neurotic degree, compulsively hording images and trinkets to remind him of everyone he’s known, important or unimportant, everywhere he’s been, intentionally or accidentally, and everything he’s seen, good or bad; and spends an inordinate amount of time poring over their significance in his free time. One might almost classify him as borderline obsessive-compulsive as a result. He reads a tremendous amount, but in keeping with type, has found that he enjoys reading a select few books over and over again. The act of flipping a page often becomes a cross between ballet and brain surgery, keeping his claws from puncturing the paper.


Clothes:
Oh his own, he prefers to wear little more than a tool belt and either a long, flowing loincloth or a kilt, to better accommodate his unusual build and tail than a pair of pants. Alternatively, he will often don a pair of heavy twill BDU pants rolled up several inches to free his paws and hocks of the tripping hazard, in the interest of being presentable in public. It’s better than Chewbacca did. He keeps himself meticulously groomed, but due to the rigors of his chosen profession, often reeks of electrical fire, machine coolant, grease, or charred flesh. When possible, he masks this by dusting his fur and plumage with baking soda.
Phelan possesses, but rarely ever wears, a lightweight set of shipboard combat armor consisting of non-conductive carbon-ceramic plate carapace and greaves, designed so as to be worn with or without his specialized “crush” suit designed originally for deep space mining operations.
The carbon-ceramic armor is roughly equivalent to the ballistic protection level of a Level III ESAPI plate in protective ability, plus some level of insulation against thermal energy from low-wattage lasers and plasma weapons. Kinetic projectiles designed to penetrate Level III vests are usually suitable for defeating this armor, as it’s really a very basic protective system for defense against handguns, low-energy buckshot and sub-machineguns often used by pirates afraid of puncturing a hull in disrepair or damaging a gas circulation line.
The “crush” suit severely hampers mobility, but provides an incredible level of protection from large objects colliding with the wearer, and has an electrically powered rebreather that can operate for up to six minutes before the wearer risks oxygen starvation, but can also be fitted with an oxygen bottle for extended use. The suit is a blaze-orange color and fitted with reflective strips and an onboard spot-lamp, and weighs roughly 280 pounds; it is simply unmanageable outside of microgravity. Its type is slightly outdated, but is still considered relatively standard-issue equipment for mining and salvage workers.



Biographical information:
Phelan was born into an utterly despicable home in one of the trashier outer-rim slum worlds, the son of a prostitute and a serial rapist. Fortunately, through the magic of adoption, he lived all but perhaps the earliest few months of his childhood in a loving and caring home on Zion, afforded a proper primary education and generally proper socialization. Given that his hybridization was unusual in his particular home district, Phelan had few childhood friends, associating best with his teachers and his adoptive patents’ friends whenever possible. The situation wasn’t that he was ostracized by the community, so much as it was that as a relatively simple creature, he usually felt intimidated and avoided contact by and large. This habit persists to today.
Phelan continued into vocational education in recycling and salvage, earning a certification in deep-space salvage and rescue, finding quickly that work was perhaps a bit more difficult to find that he’d assumed.
His attention shifted to independent salvage of high-demand ship components, things such as Tauroid and Celtic Knot reactors, avionic and telemetric hardware, communication equipment, and occasionally lost cargo, often taking side jobs in courier work for occasional customers when funds are tight.

One Light hugger “nearlight” drive, the light hugger drivers are an outdated drive system but are used in the Novastorm the ability to move at 99.999 percent light speed is a useful advantage in a ship to ship fight.

Twin Felix-Cartwright Hyperdrives, the Hyperdrives work on the principles of M-Theory. The drives open corridors to a different membrane than the one the current universe setting on, in which is able to subvert the laws of physics.

Power system: The Novastorm posses what is called a Fury a core, not the official name, but it is fitting for the core. The power core is a micropulsar, suspended in radiate energy quantum Matrix.

Appearance:
With the well formed and well maintained body of a Karn, the slightly short female has a sturdy build with heavy shoulders, hips, and paws with a torso that is a bit shorter than most. Her arms and legs are thick and the scruffy fur about her head and neck is often braided tightly in thick bands. Her two pairs of breasts are of modest size that look larger due to thick fur. Her main fur color is that of a dark navy and her secondary is that of a royal purple with a fur pattern not uncommon to wolves. Rune like markings shine golden about her body usually on larger body parts rather than the smaller. Such as her hands and feet as well as for arms and shins are with out such markings. Stiff plating runs down her back and is that of obsidian, like her claws and the three stout fin like horns that adorn the top of her head. Upon her ears are four ivory studs, two on the outside of each ear, given to her by Dresden.

Personality:
Starting out tough yet sweet, some may observe, she has a tendency to not let things get her down and has been known to lack a certain tactfulness in some matters. Her life when has not been observed of course so there is nothing recorded on such. Having been a slight pacifist caused her to avoid others that show aggressive or other wise obtrusive traits.

Over time, she has become professionally reserved. She still works well with others and, out of growing necessity, can even assert herself over more aggressive figures. Over all she converses with kindness, allure, and a firm grip where needed.

Clothes:
Personal, Custom Ordered, uniform consists of a gray diamond patterned padded corset with built in breast and back support. Laced back for adjust ability. Heavy duty zipper in front with a and inner vellcrow lining to prevent the catching of furs in zipper. Loops around bottom can be laced through with the belt that holds up the heavy padded cargo pants of the same color and pattern. Large pockets allow the carrying of many tools and exstra padding lined the knees with a firm outer cap that is much like the underside of a utility boot and the cuffs have cinch strings. Open toe boots are worn to cover her feet with an optional steel plate than can be snapped into place to guard her toes from sparks and other work related hazards. The tread of the boots goes up the back of her paws up to the first joint. Ventilated muzzle to filter her breath as it is released into the air and vise versa.

Biographical information:
Having come from a galaxy out side the milky way Kaythe found it difficult to adjust to most things. She soon adopted the faith of the Divine Star Empire after landing down on Arstil, accepting it as what created this galaxy while retaining the firm beliefs of her kind. Getting work was easy for her and she was soon able to take up residence near a port and had her ship stored. It did not take long for Sky Dragon Innovations to find her how ever, offering a job that appealed to her greatly. She now directly oversees Dresden's company interests.

Nestled between the great powers lays a cluster of 8 star systems controlled by the Akalian Republic. Why has this tiny nation not been swallowed by the great powers yet? The eight systems happen to house some of the largest gas giants known to exist and contain many rare elements. The Akalians have become experts at mining and engineering, making great profit from exports.

Knowing full well any of the large empires could declare war on it Akalia has built a realitively small but powerful and advanced military and made it clear they are willing to choose sides should they be forced too.

Until then frieghters and even the odd warship can be seen passing through other territories selling thier wares.

Appearance: Physically the Akalians are felines resembling huminoid lions from Earth. The males usually grow manes of varying colors due to differences in lineage. Now all houses are united under the Republic.

Biographical information: As Old Earth's "Bitter Pill", Steve was blamed for destroying each Emerald City spread across the planet, the only remaining safe haven for humans, but the concept was a lie, and humans lived on oblivious to the war. With the help of Dresden Jackson, Steve broke through the P.A.A.B. containment field, ultimately committing the necessary evil of reveling the state of the war to everyone. He later reunites with Dresden after the war.
