Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
“Naturally…” Tiamat responded to trinity, after the line was closed she and the beta sim where going over the data they had collected, “do you think if necessary we could get a hound in their computer systems?” Tiamat asked, “It would be entirely possible but we would need to either sneak it aboard or cut a hole in the firewall around the weapons, they use a wireless system with their weapons…” Pas mused for a moment but if it was found I’m not sure how they would like it epically if they knew we put it there…” She nodded, “you think she will give any star charts?” She asked Jason he only shrugged in response….
---
“I don’t think you would believe it, but I don’t see any harm.” The otter said moving to a large floor panel, “About a week ago the cap’s dad, asked her if she would like to test a new drive system, and with a need to explore that puts the most determined prospector to shame, she took up the job.” The otter smiled for a moment, “Name’s Andy by the way…” He motioned for the fox to give him a hand with the new deck plate to be wielded into place. “So SDI fitted us with an experimental Hyperdrive system, unlike the one on board, this one was meant to cross the distances between galaxies, and with worked, but something happened that couldn’t be predicted, but my theory is that we passed through the gravity field of a black hole causing a gravity spike.” He went to grab a fusion wielder at the other side of the corridor. “Now do to its size, the drive was attached on the outside of the ship, seeing as it was almost as long as the ship. When the spike hit us, it cracked the case and the wormhole inside destabilized, creating a positive feedback loop in the power cables, shorting them, small pockets of deck 10 where sucked into the wormhole, all matters of things happened, then we cut the drive, and hit light speed…” He paused for effect, “about 12 seconds afterwords the drive went, I think it tore a hole in space destabilizing the quantum foam….” A voice broke through on Andy’s small com unit, “ANDY! Shut up, your giving me a headache…” a canine male voice came through, “sorry Jason I didn’t know you were listening…”

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
Odin blinked at the communique as it crackled forth from the Sergeant's communications device, noting the direct and commanding tone of his superior, making the shorter lupe tug at his coat collar a bit nervously. Of course, this was shoved aside by the fact "fireworks" were brought up. He'd bring up the moral consequences of which, as it would possibly kill one or two Selkis (he assumed they must be still on that ship), but end the lives of wounded or intact survivors. If not of the original crew or riders, then of the soldiers. But, war is like chess...pawns were to be sacrificed in the name of the king (or,in the case of the Black Orchid, the queen).
This is why Odin never quite got into military matters. Much too depressing and dark for his liking. However, the universe had decided for military matters to get into HIS life, so, he was just going to have to suck it up and deal with it. Taking a bit of a breath, Odin kept the friendly and relieved smile on his muzzle and looked to the Sergeant.
"So...guess I should follow orders as well, huh?"

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
"Michael, but everyone calls me Micky." He introduced himself and wore his welding goggles and started seal the holes in deck 10. At the same time, he listened to the details of what happened. "Experimental external drive system huh." He said. "They always say that the shortest distance between to points is a straight line. But there are new black holes forming now and then, which is why I always preferred stargates with up to date maps. Takes a longer time, but I won't find myself in a situation like this. You're darn lucky the wormhole didn't collapse with your ship inside." He went on to weld the last deck plate.
"Bet your captain and the navigation crew are gonna be in big trouble for losing an expensive piece of technology." The fox commented and removed his goggles. "Alright, so where's the access panel for the electronics? If we're lucky, we'll just have to replace the fuse instead of the wires. That would make things alot easier, and then we could get a drink or something." He laughed.
"Oh right, I'm kinda on probation" He said and activated his comms device which displayed a hologram of the Captain. "Corporal Micky, checking in Ma'am." He reported. "Hows Bravo? Did everyone make it out?" The green eyed fox asked with a tone of concern in his voice.

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
“The power distribution panel is in engineering, and that is undamaged…” Andy nodded, “Problem is…” Andy removed an access panel to his right; behind the panel a series of mangled and charred cables littered the panel. “ This power junction connects this deck, aside from the lighting and life support systems to the ships power grid…as you can see it’s not in the best of condition, good thing is very little of importance is on this deck, aside from the hangers, and cargo bays which can also be accessed from other decks.” He said, grabbing some fresh super conducting cables from a cart he had brought along…” “I’m not sure if we are going to get back home anytime soon, being as it’s….on the other side of the Virgo supercluster, under the drive we have on board…it would take us….” He paused for a second to do the math in his head… “About 150 years, and with no stasis unit on board, I think we’ll stay in this local cluster for now…” Andy said, “And that is with the fastest interstellar Hyperdrive ever produced by SDI, for a manned vessel, a normal hyperdrive wouldn’t make it, though I’m not sure about that, but I’m sure someone isn’t going to be happy that a 45 trillion credit investment isn’t coming back…” He picked up a buffer to replace the vaporized one, “What I want to know is how a power junction with a triple redundancy buffer system blow out, these things are used for the raw current coming off the Antimatter power complexes…”

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
"Let's be done with this." said Trinity in an indifferent tone when Vegas and Odin stepped onto the bridge. The Black Orchid was roughly 500 meters away from the derelict ship, facing it at a forward angle.
"Vasha extahdik dahmo, Lieutenant." she ordered casually in the Asteran language, rather than english.
"Aye ma'am." he said, touching the monitor in front of him. The two forward energy accelerator cannons charged a small ball of blue-green energy, and between them, fired six shots into the other ship. Without shields, the shots pierced into the derelict ship. There were several small explosions, though the final shot must have hit the ships fusion core, as the resulting explosion was quite large, and rapidly approaching the Orchid.
The bright orange wave of energy washed over the Black Orchid's shields, but the ship didn't do so much as flinch. It was over after a few seconds, however. Nothing was left save for a small field of debris.
Trinity stood up from her chair and turned to both Sgt. Vegas and the survivor. Standing at a height of seven and a half feet tall, the dragoness had to look down at the two. She looked at Odin from head to toe, and then switched her gaze to Vegas.
"Good work out there marine." she said, resting a black and blue hand on his shoulder. Trinity stepped passed them to the hologram table, which was displaying a blue 3D image of the Novastorm.
"Let me bring you up to speed before I ask what went on over there. Shortly after you boarded the derelict vessel, the Novastorm, an unknown classification of cruiser, dropped out of hyper space." Trinity paused for a moment, tapping a few holographic buttons in the air, which caused several red blinking spots to appear on the image of the Novastorm. "When she came out, the Captain said they were in need of assistance. Obviously, they are not Selkis, so I'm not too worried. However, they have given me little reason to completely trust them. I sent out a broad wave communique for any FGN vessel to come to our location, to serve two purposes. The first and foremost reason, for backup in case we get another visit from the Selkis, as I'm guessing they weren't over there for tea. The second reason, is to further assist in the repair of the other ship. And the third and final reason, is like the first, but in case the Novastorm turns into our enemy. Preliminary scans show they are using projectile weapons, so I'm not too worried, but I'd rather be safe than sorry." She stopped for a moment to take a breath.
"Ma'am, we're picking up a large Whisper from the long range scanners." said one of the crewmen in the left command pit.
"Hmm, most likely one of ours. Keep weapons on standby." Trinity ordered. "Sorry to get you tangled in all of this, but if there's anything of use you can contribute, speak up." she said, looking at Odin, trying to be somewhat friendly, given his ordeal.

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
Odin followed the Sergeant into the Bridge, suppressing the urge to let out a low whistle at the size of it...as well as its Captain, when she acknowledged them. He did his best not to reveal his surprise, but he couldn't help thinking along the lines of "My, they certainly make them big in space...I mean the bridge of course" or "No wonder they give such respect...half the time I'd expect her to bite my head off, quite literally..."
But of course, he'd kept such thoughts to himself, but he was basing these observations on first impressions and the cool tone she spoke to them with as they prepared to scuttle the ship he'd been on. He didnt catch a word she'd said, but he watched (thankful he hadnt taken off his goggles) as the "light show" began, and in a matter of jaw dropping moments, what'd had been The Ferryman now floated plenty of debris in all that space. A bit stunned but trying to keep aware of things going on, Odin bit down on his tongue to hold a surprised meep as she rose and loomed before him and the Sergeant, estimating she nearly stood eight feet tall, making the five foot nine inche wolf feel quite small indeed. He gulped as he felt her piercing gaze on him, but couldn't resist returning an appraising gaze back, more in a mix of nerves and curiousity than anything else.
He let out a quiet sigh of relief when she moved onto the Sergeant, his shoulders visibly sagging from being bunched up and rigid. But his ears perked as she led Sergeant along to a hologram table. He was impressed, as most hologram based devices he'd seen in use were mostly second to third hand stuff, but this was quite top of the line...perfectly understandable, for a ship used by the Federation Guard. He quietly observed the device, as well as the information being relayed. The Novastorm? The name of the ship in question wasn't all too familiar to the short wolf, but seeing how there were still galaxies he hadn't been fired from, he'd have to assume it was from one of them. He was carefully considering the facts as they were : It was a cruiser that was advanced enough to weild a hyperdrive, but still used projectile weaponry? An interesting development in cruiser ship design, but then again, he'd been on far older, out-dated ships in his times hitchhiking.
The wolf was quickly nudged out of his thoughts by the sound of the Captain's voice, whom was now talking to him directly. Disarmed by the sudden turn of conversation, as well as her friendly tone of voice, the short wolf couldn't help but redden slightly, straightening up a bit
"W-well, thank you, but things like this happen all the time. I mean, can't carry on through space without having close encounters of some kind or another...I'm just glad I bumped into your men first, as opposed to the Selkis...er, mam" he added quickly, reddening more, trying to do a salvageble salute, before putting his clumsy hand down. "But, I could offer my services to your operation in aiding this Novastorm crusier. I'm a freelance techspert, currently between assignments, so, I'm not in any obligation to hurry or such...which of course, is the case, cause I mean, you didn't say I could or couldn-I'm rambling..." he said, catching himself as he slumped a bit, rubbing the back of his head. Smooth operator, isn't he?

"Your guess is as good as mine." Micky replied as he too can't think of any way of such an incident to happen. Unless of course poor workmanship of the ship, but that is just nonsence. He cringed as he could still smell the charred mess that was the circuitry. Suddenly there was a loud explosion which got him pretty alarmed. "They must have blown up that wreck with those Selkis aboard." He said. He was still a bit worried about the squad. "Funny.. One moment I'm playing cards with the fellas, listening to them talking about their families back home. And then we mobilize, next thing we know." He paused and snapped his finger. "Gone.. Just like that..." He sighed. "Do you mind me asking, you got a family Andy back where you're from?"

“Could have happened because of a temporal or spacial anomaly,” The otter mused for a minute, “as for family, just two and one really isn’t family, but there is an Ex-girlfriend and my four year old daughter…” Andy was quite for a little while after that as he installed the buffer system, “SDI, the company that had funded the drive promised they would give my little girl something if I didn’t make it back…” It was blinding obvious that he was done with that particular conversation topic. “Now aside from the external armor plates, the only thing left to do would be to fix the jammed launch doors…” He said taking the communication system that he was carrying with him. “Pas, we have patched up everything you can return power to this deck…” The gentle hum of raw electricity was present for a moment as terawatts of power flooded the repaired super conducting lines. “This way…” The otter motioned for him to follow around the corner.
“When he hit the gravity spike…” he stopped for a moment to close an open unity room. “The drive sent a lot more current that I thought was possible into the launch doors, wielding them shut, we are going to have to cut them open, don’t have to worry about having an air tight seal in hear simply due to the fact that no one likes being in this area…” What he said was confirmed within seconds, as the door opened and they entered the bay it felt wrong, like something was off. The feeling that they didn’t belong, though Andy didn’t brother to explain why. Hanging about 8 meters up where four machines, each one had Hexes printed on it in large letters along with a signal sign sentence, ‘Overdrive Weapons platform, Hexes Class, do not fire with in ship…’ It was obvious that what ever these weapons where they required massive mechanization as each weapon appered to have hundreds if not thousands of moving parts.

OOC: I was waiting for Vegas to post, but that doesn't seem to be the case. So, to prevent this from dying...
"At the moment, I'm afraid I cannot permit that. It's one thing to send one of my men to an unknown ship, but I can't ask that of a civilian." Trinity said to Odin. "However, I'm sure I'll find some use for you."
"Ma'am, incoming shout, six hundred kilometers from our current location." Said a crewman towards the front of the bridge.
"Friendly?" asked Trinity, looking to the crewman.
"Sensors indicate an Assault class battlecruiser... Selkis..." Trinity's eyes narrowed. She pushed a few holographic buttons floating above the table, and a holographic 2D screen appeared in front of her.
"Black Orchid to Novastorm. I hope your weapons are online, because we're about to engage a Selkis battlecruiser." she switched attention to Odin and Sergeant Vegas. "Sergeant, man one of the forward energy turrets. Computers are great, but sometimes it needs that living touch. Odin... If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears." Contrary to this, however, she switched her attention back to the Novastorm.
"Tiamat, right? Listen, I'm assuming you know how to handle your ship in combat, but if your from another galaxy, than you probably don't know much about the Selkis." She paused for a moment before continuing. "Don't underestimate them. They use vector based energy weapons, so keep an eye on your shields. If your ship's near the Orchid, our core should be able to provide an extra boost of power to your shielding. It won't be much, but it might be what counts." she explained.
"Ma'am, two more contacts, exiting compressed space. Selkisian frigates." one of the crewmen said.
"Oh, one more thing. Tell that engineer of mine to work faster. Good luck, Novastorm. Black Orchid, out." Trinity cut the video feed, and went to take a seat in her chair. "Attention all hands, report to battle stations, this is not a drill." she ordered over the ship-wide com.
"Ma'am, the frigates appear to be taking up positions on both sides of the battlecruiser." said an Ensign in front of her. "And we're still picking up the large whisper from earlier. If it shouts here, it will be in roughly five minutes."
Trinity sat there silently, calculating her next move.

OOC: My bad, I didn't think it was a very good time for Vegas to jump in, considering you had addressed Odin directly, and he replied directly. Anything my character did would've been interrupting the conversation, or so it appeared to me. Sorry about that :/
RP: A grim smile played across Vegas' muzzle as he nodded, "Yes, ma'am!" The Sergeant turned to Odin, "Reise Reise," he smirked as he spun on his heel and sprinted towards the control station for the turret.
Sitting at the station, the Sergeant flipped through his mind, trying to remember the course on Starship interfaces. "Ahhh, hell..." His gloved hands moved across the control surfaces, akward at first, but quickly getting a feel for (and remembering) how everything worked. He slipped the headset from the station on, and spoke into the boom mic, "Vegas, ready to go, ma'am!"

Micky nodded and followed Andy to the Novastorm's bridge. It seems like the Selkis weren't too happy about their friends being blown up in the ship wreck. He was pretty clueless as to the Novastorm's crew battle routine. So he just stood close to anything that he could grab in case of an impact. He heard the Captain mention 'The Hexes' which were the devices he saw before the Selkis showed themselves again. He stares out of the bridge's canopy eager to witness what it could do.

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
Odin nodded, sighing a bit in relief as she explained that for the time being, he'd be staying on this ship, rather explore the unidentified space-faring object. But his ears perked as Vegas spoke to him, speaking in a dialect he'd come across before in his time reading. Wasn't it called "Jehr-Mahn"? Still, Reise as he called came close to the Interlac term "Journey".
"Journey Journey?" he mouthed silently, but smiled a little, seeing it was Vegas's way of putting much needed humor in tense situations. But the worst was now past, and now he could rela-...
He stood rigid when the report came in of Selkis ships arriving, and about to engage. Once more, Luck favors red. Too bad Odin had bet on black. He wasn't too familiar with Selkis ships, given the fact any data or scraps taken from them were instantly siezed by the unified government for their own research, not many independant studies had been made. So, assuming they were equivalent to the Guard's style of ship and weapons...
He blinked when he realized the Captain was talking to him, the wolf padding over and admiring the holographic screen, trying to look as less tense as possible. He'd opened his mouth when she suddenly returned to her conversation to the Novastorm, her ensigns and crew handing her reports and updates, the wolf fading into the background as he pondered. If these Selkis Assault Battle Cruisers were anything like the ships he'd seen the Guard use, he assumed they used simliar tactics and technology as Asterans, seeing how they were once one race.
A sembalance of an idea began to form, raising a point to the Captain
"If I may? I'm not all too informed about Selkis technology, but they must use some details and theories that we do. Such as Vector energy. I'm sure they must've found some way to prevent other forces from feeding off the power boosting capabilities one gets applying Vector Energy Generators, especially seeing how..."
Refers to the current amassing force
"...Close together these frigates and cruisers are set up, making them ever durable than before. Now, what I'm thinking if there was someway we could get them to spread out, splinter them enough apart that could allow better chance and piercing their defenses once they're further out of reach to benefit from this Vector perk, and give us a chance to either finish this force off. I know that this whole plan is vague and bare boned, but I'm seeing this through a technologic standpoint and not strategic, but seeing how there is more on the way, we must assume that there will even MORE after this large whisper...and let me tell you I'm not liking the sound of that at all."

Micky quickly leapt into the seat and slipped his paws into the gloves just as what Jason instructed him to do. The neural interface activated and quickly went through the tutorial. He understood most of it, "fire to shoot, how hard could it be?" He thought to himself and brought the railguns around to face the oncoming threat. He targetted the nearest frigate and the system beeped to indicate that it locked on to the vessel. The fox bit his lip and released a hail of railgun blasts on the Selkis ship.

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
"Concentrate fire on the frigate the Novastorm has engaged." ordered Trinity. "Their railguns are going to have a tough time getting through the Selkis' shields without our help." She turned to Odin. "Under normal circumstances, I would agree. However, your suggestion got me thinking what their plan might be." she paused and began to pace between her chair and the holo-table. "Both us and the Novastorm are in range of the frigates, yet if you notice, they haven't fired. Because they are accompanying a cruiser, they are most likely rerouting all power to shields and the cruiser... Odds are, the cruiser is going to be the one attacking." she explained, approaching the table. Trinity brought up a 3D image of the Selkis battlecruiser. "You'll notice it has no small turrets, but rather, and energy accelerator that runs the length of the ship. On its own, it would take one maybe two direct hits from it to take down our shields... but with the frigates -most likely- giving it a power boost... Let's just say I don't want to risk getting hit."
Almost on cue, one of the Ensigns chimed in.
"Captain, the Selkis battlecruiser is charging its weapon."
"Evasive maneuvers, and keep firing at that frigate. Also, prep the core for a Vector Shift, just in case." she ordered.
"Aye, Ma'am." said a crewman.
Trinity set her hand on Odin's shoulder, but was looking off to the side, as though trying to figure out what to say. Finally, after a few seconds, she looked down at him in the eye.
"I'm... sorry this war found its way to your doorstep." she said before going back to her seat.

She smiled, "You'll see in a moment..." she said, "engaging hyperdrive." The blood red hyperspace window. Opened, this was one of the rare events where it was possible to see the entrance and exist windows. The Novastorm appeared behind the small battle group. "Focus all weapons to a signal point, i mean extremely small..." Jason nodded, "Here that fox..." "On it!" Micky complied, "Woah, when you said small, you weren't kidding." Micky sqeezed the trigger and fired the railguns at the target, hoping at least a couple of shots would manage to hit home. Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
Odin quietly watched as Trinity pointed out that his suggestion had merit, but as the Captain went on, pacing, he listened with intent as she pointed out small details he had overlooked. Indeed, they hadn't fired, which would explain the idea that perhaps their energies were diverted elsewhere. Appraising the raised three dimensional image of the battlecruiser, he gulped and paled when the true danger of the situation was made clear to him as he looked at the energy accelerator, tugging his collar weakly.
His gaze focused like a laser at the dimensional reproduction of the frigate, trying to find some way out of this without dying a horribly quick death (hopefully quick). But he looked up as the captain's large hand was placed on his shoulder, nodding weakly when she apologized once more. He felt for the Captain, having to shoulder such responsibility for her mission and her crew. But before he could offer his own support...
His eyes darted to the screens as the ship known as Novastorm shift in space and appear behind the engaging force, his eyebrow raising slowly.
"Um...I'm just...whats the old Terran term...spitballing here, but...am I the only one who suddenly feels like we've been made into a distraction...?"

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
"Idiot! What have you done!?" Trinity exclaimed in frustration to herself. "Such a move should have been saved until the moment they fired, now you've put your ship in range of a-" she stopped when the Selkis cruiser fired it's weapon, but instead of firing in a short, powerful, beam of energy that went in one direction, it was more like a wave of energy that radiated outwards in a sphere, engulfing the Novastorm and the two frigates. "-tactical pulse..." she said, finishing her sentence.
Normally, such an attack would be weaker than a direct attack, but with the frigates feeding it power, a tactical pulse would be enough to knock out the Orchid's shields for a short time at that range. If anything, the only plus side would be that the frigates' shields would be disabled as well.
"Black Orchid to Novastorm, get out of there now! Before they're able to fire again." Trinity said in an authoritative tone.
"Ma'am, more incoming whispers, ETA two minutes." said a crewman.
"What of the larger one?" she asked.
"Five minutes and counting, Ma'am."
"Vegas! Alternated fire between frigates. Without shields, it shouldn't take much to do away with them." Trinity ordered. "Odin... If you want to make peace with your maker, you might want to do so now. I don't know if we'll make it out of this one."
"Ma'am, the cruiser is charging it's weapon again."
"I want this ship to shift on my mark, and not a second later, understood!?"
"Yes Ma'am."
Trinity was getting aggravated at the situation. If she made it out alive, there was going to be hell to pay later...

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
"Incoming pulse!" The shields of the Novastorm flashed white as tactical pulse hit them, a few panles sparked, as there small wires overloaded. "Tiamat shields at ten precent power, capacitor banks are recharging, full strength in 90 seconds." She nodded, "The frigates shields are down, lock on missiles, five per frigate! now!" Jason nodded, "Aye Ma'am, trageting packages are loading, safeties off, missiles are away....!"
The dorsal missile pods of the Novastorm fired ten missiles, normally there would be a chance of being shot down, but the Novastorm had moved to within 40 meters of the battlegroup. Missing was foreign concept at this distance, the missiles impacted the hulls of the frigates, anyone watching would have at first almost laughed with the impacts seemed to do no visible damage to the hulls of their intend frigates. Ten seconds later gaping holes began to appear as the nanites in the missiles went to work, the hull of ships began to dissolve under the nanites as the tore apart the atoms of the ship for replication, it began a chain reaction the amount of nanites increase and the level of damage increase exponentially.
"Spin up the hyperdrive, getting odd readings here, i think it might be there form of FTL drive systems, estamations put them at two and five minutes out, if they are the moment they come out what ever that is jump..." Tiamat said, "Prepare the Nearlight drive as well, if they fire again transition to light speed immediately, i would not like to get hit again." she frowned, she had heard Trinity's message and ignored it for a moment....

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
Odin's jaw hung open as his be-goggled eyes reflected beneath the light of the Selkis tactical pulse irradiated not only its frigates, but the recently teleported Novastorm as well. But he regained his senses when the commanding roar of Trinity's voice berating the Novastorm's risky actions blared from the side, making him wince and shake his head. It was clear the Novastorm had other ideas on how to proceed in this conflict. If, and thats a very big if, they survived this, he predicted a lengthy, heated argument between the two captains of the vessals opposing Selkis attack. He's hoping they forget he too was a stranger of another vessal and leave him out of this. Hihgly unlikely, but he was hopeful...sort of.
He kept noting a tone of soft assurance when she refered to him. It was both comforting yet disheartening. An officer of inspiring confidence, huh?
"Well, it maybe a little too early to throw in the towel yet, Captain...mam." he added quickly "As for making peace with my maker, well, I don't think that'll be happening...I'd like to have a word with him/her/it about how things went this past life...and being a space faring captain, you can guess which words those could very well be..." he added with a wry grin. He might very well be facing his end, so, mind as well go out with a smile.
Of course, this slim chance of survival was raised several percents, when the Novastorm made its attack upon the enemy frigates, firing missles at their hulls, exploding on impact...to no avail. Odin sighed. Well, least they tr-...wait, were those HOLES forming? Something clicked in the wuff's head which made him bark out in the middle of an awkward silence
"NANITES!"
The following silence went on long enough to give birth to a litter of painful pauses. Cheeks reddening, he coughed and continued
"The Novastorm's must be bearing a load of missles containing specially made and tested nanites which will replicate more and more as they digest upon the material provided by the Selkis ship hull...eventually, they'll gorge themselves, dying off, but by then there would little left to leave any form of a threat...this at least improves our chances...right...?
He looked around, the reddening in his cheeks soon giving way to a pale, colorless pallor to his fur
"So...looks like we went from 5 percent to 10 percent of making through this alive then, huh?"

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
OOC: Trinity didn't send a message, sorry if I didn't make that clear in my post.
IC: The nanites appeared to be making quick work of the ships, but that was a potential problem.
"Novastorm, get out of there, now!" Trinity couldn't make it an order, but the tone of her voice was that of one. The Selkis battlecruiser began to move quickly away from the frigates. The Vector cores of the frigates were going critical, and it was a matter of seconds rather than minutes before they would explode in a release of energy greater than that of the tactical pulse. The Orchid's weapons would help diminish the release of energy.
"Ma'am, there was a delay in the sensor relay network." said a crewman.
"What are you getting at?" she questioned.
"Well..." he looked out of the view port. Several blue-green bursts of energy appeared in the vicinity.
"I see... Well Odin, it looks like we took two steps back. But let's see if we can't turn it to our advantage." she grinned.
"Incoming fire!"
"Shift, three-three-eight point two-seven, mark." ordered the dragoness. The move was similar to the Novastorm's, but the one notable difference was there was no energy signature when it vanished and reappeared in another location. The energy beam passed through where the Orchid was and continued through space, striking one of the other Selkis ships that came out of compressed space.
"How much more can the core take?" Trinity asked.
"Two more consecutive, Ma'am."
"Keep it prepped."
"Ma'am, incoming Shout, and this one is big." Said an Ensign, and he wasn't joking about its size. Looking out of the viewport, the visible energy of the ship was quite large, but because of a lack of parallax, its distance away was impossible to tell by the naked eye. However, because of its size, the ship was taking more than an instant to exit compressed space.
"Tell me Odin, have you ever seen a space-god up close?" Trinity grinned.

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
Odin's eyes watched as the Orchid soon buzzed with action and reaction as they took as much of an advantage as the Selkis Frigate was damaged, of course, limited in the fact they'd taken in some damage themselves.
"Well, two steps back is fine with me when it means getting back away from an exploding frigate, if I can be honest, captain."
When they shifted in a manner akin to the Novastorm, Odin felt a slight twinge of nausea, but thats only because he'd be through so much in so little time, and shifting through space was not the best thing to do when put through the ringer like that. He blinked, trying to focus when Trinity asked him about space gods. It struck him and woke him from his stupor. He'd heard and seen some partial holo images, but never seen the real thing. When he too looked into the viewport, he gently removed his goggles to reveal his astonished expression.
"Oh...my...Bod..."
A short but apt response, given what was trying to exit compressed space...

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
"What the hell is that...?" The ship was similar in size to mother ships they had seen before. "The frigates cores are going critical!" Andy yelled across the bridge, "No time to enjoy the view boys, engaging near light drive, hold on..." To anyone looking, the image of the Novastorm blurred and stretched for a moment as it accelerated to 99.9% light speed. The Novastorm made a state shift from Tradyonic to tachyonic as it reached it's top speed it decelerated 1000 meters to the port side of the Black orchid.
"Do you have any plans to leave this area?" Tiamat asked after having a com line opened to the Orchid....

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
Vegas hadn't heard the transmission from the Novastorm, but he did hear the quip about the space-god, and a similar thought crossed his mind: Why the hell ARE we staying here? The Novastorm was clearly able to make FTL jumps, we could help them alot more in any other star system. He sighed. He's just a Staff Sergeant. He kills shit, he doesn't think about shit. Not on this level anyway.
But still, that nagging feeling wouldn't let go, and finally he spun in his seat to face the Captain, "Ma'am, I must suggest that under these tactical circumstances, we give the Novastorm coordinates to meet us at and we jump out of here."

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
The ship exited out of compressed space. The Selkis cruisers between that ship and the Orchid paled in comparison to it.
"This is the Colossus, Shadow of Hevus. We got your message, and got here as soon as we could." a deep voice said over the com.
"Does that answer your question, Sergeant?" Trinity grinned, before pushing a button to open a channel to the Colossus. "Shadow of Hevus, this is the Black Orchid. The unknown classification of ship is friendly, but if you could help us out with the Selkis, that would be greatly appreciated."
"Can do Orchid. Weapons, bring point defense online." the com cut out, and a few seconds later, several spots on the Colossus began to glow, though they looked small compared to the overall size of the ship. When they fired, it soon became apparent that for point defense weapons, they were quite large, and quite powerful. The energy that shot forth made quick work of the Selkis cruisers, and within moments, this area of space was nothing more than a large debris field.
"Novastorm, this is the Black Orchid. If you still need repairs, I would suggest docking with the Shadow of Hevus-" Trinity said, but was interrupted by an incoming transmission.
"Black Orchid, passengers aboard my ship are requesting a transfer onto yours." said the voice of what was most likely the Captain of the Shadow of Hevus.
"This isn't a passenger ship. We don't just take on every single being that happens along our way." she looked over at Odin. "Present company excluded."
"This is Kensyr Frel of the Arken Guard, and you can consider it more than a request." an authoritative voice said over the com. Trinity had that look of anger about her.
"Fine. Ensign, begin docking procedures with the Shadow of Hevus. Sergeant, greet our... guests... at the forward airlock. It will take a few moments to complete docking procedures, so feel free to take your time. Odin, I'd like to have a word with you in my quarters." she said getting out of her chair. Trinity moved passed the holographic display table to a mechanically sliding door. It opened as the dragoness approached it, and closed swiftly behind her.
OOC: Here are some physical specs. of the Shadow of Hevus.
Length: 145 miles
Width: 70 miles
Height: 35 miles
Power Supply: Dual type 1 Vector cores.
Armament:
-Point defense: 30 energy accelerating cannons (each one mile in length)
-Primary: 2 energy accelerating cannons (each 45 miles in length)
Engines: Vector engines (6 on the back, 4 near the front before the start of the main weapons. They have the appearance of 30 mile long, relatively thing protrusions that extend outward from the ship itself)

Re: Missions of the Black Orchid
"Weapons are cold..." Jason spoke across the bridge, "Not that they would hurt that thing anyway..." He sighed, "It's to bad the utterly destroyed those ships i would have liked to salvage some of those components, and computer system..." The otter spoke as he turned around in his seat on the small bridge. "Shadow of Hevus, this is the Novastorm's engineer." The otter's voice came across on all bands, "We are requesting light repair and starcarts as the ones we currently posses are useless in galaxy." The otter was making this request instead of Taimat for the fact that he was more polite than the caustic captain. "Along with any information available on the Selkis? Is that right?" He stopped speaking there awaiting a response. "Tiamat the Hexes is still online and fully powered." Jason spoke out, "I know it can't be shut off, there just going to have to deal with it."
