(Feel free to critique. I suppose it's still a rough draft- Albeit a very refined rough draft. This starts about the era of Terran expansion into space.)

The Cross- Primary supernation of the newly renamed terran outpost High Charity
Originally a small Desert-Forest planet with few natural pockets of water, the planet was about as likely a place to land a settlement as the next rock, with the great Terran expansion.
In the beginning, the Cross was but a small, relatively well off nation ruled by a Grand Paladin- A preacher, warrior, and president rolled into one.
And High Charity (Then Terra Gamma) had many, many disunited and warring countries.
The colonists had splintered after the deathof the colony founder, <Name not found>, and laid claim to many different patches of land. War tore the planet, like many other ill fated Terran settlements.
However, the first Grand Paladin, Charos Duliim, decided that Terra Gamma would not suffer mass extinction and glassing, no, not again.
He lead a Crusade to unite the people of Terra Gamma, leading the charge as a Paladin, and was a mighty warrior indeed.
In a war spanning three generations, his vision was corrupted, and the Third Grand Paladin, the Disgraced One, unleashed massive orbital nuclear weapons at several nations, obliterating millions.
The planet grew red with blood, and he was cast out.
(Currently adrift in a life pod 72,000 miles from High Charity.)
After this genocide, this atrocity.. this Holocaust, the nations united. The planet was far too torn to keep up this way, and something must be done.
Hara Swift, the new Grand Paladin, has been leading reform projects, terraforming efforts, and the general charge torepair the planet.
Under his rule, the world has come to peace and developed many, many technologies, the latest being a jumpgate that can cross vast distances in minutes!
However, the Disgraced One lurks at the borders, and in a lab a hundred miles below the surface, his followers unite...
