XAP Sign Up Sheet - IMPORTANT
Ok, so this is going to be an important one. This is the topic you go to if you want to work on something specific in the Podcast (If you are not quite sure or interesting in helping out just in general you are free to PM or email me or other staff members)
I feel the last podcast was a bit me-heavy, so I'd love more contribution from you guys! It doesn't have to be vocal. I'll list the jobs we're interested in. Please at least scan every one. Particularly the first 4 are quite important, and they're by no means all the same, so if one doesn't sound right for you, look at the next ones.
FIRST PRIORITY
Interviewers - (Edit - For the moment we are changing our target interviewees to people related to the site, like staff. This may change when we run out of staff members!)
This is an important job. We need interviews and so we need interviewees. However, it is not a job for just anyone; We need someone who is confident, friendly, talkative and has good recording equipment.
We are looking to interview 'famous' furs or sci-fi personalities, so this adds a particular responsibility; you will be representing the site, and will need to make a good impression. It is also the aspect of the podcast that will most likely attract an outside audience, so I consider it a very important part of XAP.
Perks: You will be a highly valued member of the Podcast team. You will be able to get your name out there and talk personally with people you may look up to, be a fan of or admire. It will only take about 15 to 30 mins of recording. Background work, finding interviewees and question writing may be shared out with other Podcast staff (Although if you want to do all this as well you are free to do so)
Interviewers must have an interview, har har, before they will be taken on. Anyone may express an interest, however. If so, just mail me or post here
Segment Personalities -
This could mean one of two things; you might run your own segment (on any topic you like) or else share a segment with someone else and talk to one another about a particular topic such as games. This also requires good recording equipment and an entertaining manner, but has the perk of being able to write exactly what you're saying before hand. You would also not be needed for every podcast, so if you didn't have any material for one episode it would not be the end of the world.
I would love a variety of Segments, so no matter how crazy your idea feel free to pitch it. However, if it is an idea for someone else to do, please put that in the appropriate thread. Segment suggestions in this thread should only be for segments you are personally willing and able to work on (Not necessarily by your self, but at least partially)
Secondary priorities
Writers -
If you are a writer of any sort, feel free to put your work forward for the podcast. It may not be suitable for a drama piece, but if it can be read aloud then I'm sure we can fit it in somewhere! Prose, Poetry or plays are all fine mediums. All I ask is that they be either sci-fi or furry related. And don't be put off if you only write short pieces. Having several of those to read out would make great breaks between longer segments!
Public Relations -
If you don't write and you don't or can't voice act, then this may just be your way of being a big help to the Podcast! I am a fairly shy person, so it's hard to me to get out there and advertise the podcast. If you are a friendly and sociable person (Or even if you can just pretend to be!) then please consider helping out by contacting people for us and spreading the good word! I don't mean for you to go around spamming, but if you have contacts or friends who have followers or fans or a blog or whatever, that would be a perfect opportunity.
Again, you would be representing the site, so while this is a job that most people should be able to do, it does require a certain manner. If you are hot-headed in any way, probably avoid this, but otherwise please consider it. I'll work closely with you in this, so you won't be left on your own. I'll also write stock messages for you if you need that, so if your spelling, grammar or even English in general isn't too great, that's not too big of a problem.
Other jobs
Voice Actor -
I have enough voice actors to get through a drama piece, but the beauty of voices is that each one has something unique about it. I could have 100 voice actors and still not quite have the voice I'm after, so it'd be nice to have as many as possible apply, especially if your voice is 'different' in any noticeable way (Very deep, very high, or, in our case, female!)
Voice actors are low on my priority list at the moment because I don't necessarily need more, but it's never a category I'll close. However, a voice actor may go several episodes without being used. This may be a plus or a minus, depending on how much time you have/how much you want to contribute.
Editor -
I personally never like the idea of other people editing my segments, but I'm sure some people would appreciate the help, particularly if they voice act but don't have the knowledge/ability to edit. Also, I hate voice actors sending me clips I've asked for that obviously need editing (Having long silences or messed up lines kept in, for example).
As such, and editor might come in handy. This would not mean as it does with TV and Movies, where you'd put the whole thing together. That remains my job. When I say editor I mean it in it's most literal and basic sense. You would get a clip and either be given the script it should be or be told what to keep/get rid of, and you'd edit it down. It's quite simple, but if I had someone to do it it would save a lot of time, and so I'd appreciate it. It's also something that almost anyone can do.
Pros are that it's easy, and that you don't have to spend a long block of time one it; you could put aside maybe 5 - 10 minutes a day for 3 days, or something like that.
Cons are that it may seem monotonous or too simple, but I know some people enjoy tasks like that, so if you're one of those people, sign up! )
Sound Effects -
I have a fair amount of sound effects already, so this isn't too necessary, but having someone to find more sound effects would be fairly helpful. This would be good if you're very internet-savvy or have worked with sound effects before.
Pros are that you could do it literally any time. If you are bored just search for some sounds and if you come across good ones send em my way. You may occasionally be given a list, but other than that it's free reign.
Cons are that it's sorta a thankless task. I will thank you personally, but this isn't a job if you're after fame and glory. It'll get you in my good books though
Other -
A pathetic job title, I know, but I've ran out of jobs I can think of right now, but know there must be things I've missed. If you want to help but nothing here appeals to you, let me know by PM or in another XAP topic and we'll see if there's anything you can do. If we come up with something I'll add it to the list.

Re: XAP Sign Up Sheet - IMPORTANT
Hmmm... I could be a voice actor myself (I'm good with my voice)... the only problem is that I need some help setting that sort of thing up.
And sometimes the wrong thing comes out of my mouth.

Re: XAP Sign Up Sheet - IMPORTANT
Thanks Nelle, you might be able to join one of the round-table style discussions. I'd love to have one of those in our next Episode, and Daryn is happy doing a games section if a) he has the time and b) there are decent Sci-fi games to talk about.
And Arratra, that's cool. When I have a bit more spare time myself I'll try and help you out with how to get some recordings done (All I can say for the moment is Audacity. Download it, it rocks and is awesome :p ) but you don't need to worry if 'the wrong thing' comes out of your mouth. The joy of voice acting is that it doesn't have to be one take. That's the difference between stuff like interviews or live segment discussions. All voice acting work for the podcast would be recorded on its own and can be done in multiple takes.
