Ask Daryn a Question on XAP!
Okay guys, after a staff discussion we think it might be cool if instead of random people from across the fandom we start interviewing prominent people on the forum!
So it didn't take long for the idea to interview Daryn to pop up. He does so much work behind the scenes it's insane! I don't mind admitting that I'd be completely lost without him, and with all the technical help he's given forum members, as well as offering free games and of course spiffing up the site (older members among you will know how much of a change the current lay-out is from our original, and I'm sure you'd all agree it's a change for the better) we're certain there are a couple things you might like to ask him.
So if you think of any questions for me to ask Daryn in XAPs next interview please post them here or, if you don't want him to be able to prepare an answer (you cheeky devil you) you can simply PM me the question and it'll be a surprise for him!

Anyone? This is going to be a really short interview otherwise.

Re: Ask Daryn a Question on XAP!
I don't think anyone knows what to ask you, honestly, Daryn!
Really, you're just kind of this bird that is there who keeps everything running! It's kind of like I was telling you on the phone the other night, people never really see what goes on back stage. They see what is presented them, never really "reading the credits after the movie", so to speak.
I think if I were to ask you any questions during a public interview, they might be:
- "How deep does your knowledge of code and forum architecture go?"
- "What are your main interests in science fiction?"
- "What prompted you to start a forum about it?"
- "What is it you do in the background to keep the forums going?"
And stuff like that.
It is honestly kind of hard to come up with a list of questions. What I could suggest as an alternative, is that you just tell the program - in an interview with Slice - about all of the stuff above, and add some ad-lib of your own. The two of you put your heads together beforehand, and try to work out what you might talk about.
My suggestions, at any rate, for what they're worth.
I say just give it a shot. I think quite a few people might be interested in hearing from the brains behind the forums, and the person who makes everything work.

Re: Ask Daryn a Question on XAP!
Just an update: There will be a slight delay in the Daryn interview. It should have been yesterday, but there's a problem with my Uni's main power supplier. While I've managed to avoid the worst of it (No blackouts that I've noticed) it's playing hell with the net service, and things like MSN and Skype are particularly suffering.
We should be doing the interview this weekend instead, when I'm at home on Ol' Reliable (Aka My PC)
