I've spent a good half hour or so changing around the forums to try and make it simpler and just generally more pleasant to navigate. You will notice that there are less forums now than there were before. Don't worry about that, all the content is still there, but it's been tucked away into more appropriate drawers (imagine tidying a room, if you will)
For a full list of the changes (in case you can't find something) please see here:
Spoiler
I have included several subforums in the Introduction part of the site that will hopefully make things easier for new members. This includes a dedicated subforum for the introductions themselves, a currently empty FAQ and Help section that I'll work on filling in over the next few days and a section for our new RP Mentor programme (see below)
Odin's Comic Symposium has been moved into the Compendium Portfolio (Books)
Links to non-member artwork and everything involving the currently dead SciFiFur Comic project have been moved into Graphical Engineering (Artwork).
The Emblematic Mezzanine - Artistic Expression Forum has itself been moved up by one, so that it is now grouped with the Literature and Film forums that are all now found above the Roleplay forums.
The Airlock Cycle for RP Proposals and the Briefing Room (currently unused but will start to be filled soon) have both been moved into The Cargo Bay for RP OOC. If this causes any issues, please let me know.
XAP Suggestions have been moved into XAP Discussion. That's a pretty straightforward one.
Drama Segment (formerly Uplink Lambda Projects) has been moved into XAP Primary Projects, although I might up and delete it in the near-future. It doesn't seem to serve much purpose at the moment
Our Twitter feed has been revived and can now be found on the left-hand side of the forum. It will be used as often as necessary, so try to check it once a visit. It will also be used to inform everyone if the site goes unexpectedly down, so if you can't access SciFiFur, check our feed on Twitter itself.
Finally (for now) Dusty has proposed an RP Mentor system, which we have started to implement. This will basically be a veteran member and skilled RPer taking a new player under their wing and teaching them the basics, easing them into RPing at SciFiFur, listening to their character suggestions and if appropriate edging them in the right direction (toning down power-players, diluting Mary-Sue characters, suggesting useful skills and abilities and so on), and anything else that might help them improve (and enjoy) their RPing ability. It should be fun for both participants, mentor and apprentice, and will help close the gap between new and existing members. We want to avoid seeming exclusive or cliquey to new members while still maintaining a high quality of Roleplaying, and this seems the best way of doing it.
