    “It's time for bed, Honey.” Her mother called up to her. Janet was on the floor coloring in a picture of Santa Claus, as it was almost Christmas. The eight year old picked herself up, dusted herself off with her tiny hands and stamped her little feet down the stairs. She gave her mother the angry look that only an eight year old girl could possibly pull off.


    “I don't wanna!” she said, stamping her little foot.
    “But, Honey, if you don't go to bed, Santa won't come.”
    “Santa doesn't come for another, whole twooo days.”
    “But he knows if you've been good, so let's get you up to bed.” Janet screamed the whole way up, and only quieted down when she was tucked snuggly in her bed. “Good Night, Janet.”
    “Good night, Mommy...” Janet blinked her emerald eyes a couple times before finally closing them. When she opened them, something was different. She looked at her front paws. Paws? She screamed.


    “MommIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!” Janet's mother bounded into the room on all fours, clearly disturbed by her daughter's scream. It was five in the morning and something had to be wrong for her daughter to be awake this early. She stood above her crying kitten/cub. The little wolf-cat must have had a bad dream again. Putting away her claws, she picked the little one up. “sshh, it's okay... What happened?”


    The little whimpering creature sobbed again, “Human... We were... What happened?...”
    “Don't worry, little kitty, humans have been extinct for almost a thousand years. They only exist in stories.” Her father entered the room, a great silver wolf. “is everything all right?” Janet's mother a black cat, answered. “she just had a human dream again. She'll be fine.”

    Janet woke up and climbed out of bed. She remembered that day without having to revisit it every night, but some things couldn't be helped. She went to the bathroom and splashed some cold water on her face, trying to wipe the memory out of her mind. She looked down at her delicate paws. Humans don't exist anymore, she thought to herself. She looked in the mirror, her raven wings glistening with a few drops the splashed onto them. She still wasn't used to them, having gotten them only a week ago. Then they shipped her out to the other side of the country, so the time difference was screwing her up, too. Worse yet, even though she was a full fledged SoulHealer, they were still forcing her to go to college. She shrugged, it could be worse, she could have not have the full scholarship they gave her. But, San Fransisco? SOmeone started pounding on her door, better get that. She opened the door and a bluejay fell in. It was another drunk college student. Janet rubbed her palms together and generated the white healing energy she needed. She cleaned out the poison in his system and he woke up. "Third time this week, Larry. Don't make it four or i won't help you again." He nodded and ran back to his dorm. What he didn't know was that she didn't take away the hangover he was going to have tomorrow. That should teach him a lesson. She crawled back into bed, she had class in the morning and she was not going to be late...

    Jude fumbled with the keys in the dark, cursing himself for being so forgetful, and swung the office doors open. When he was inside he paused for a moment, locked the doors again behind him, and then trotted up the stairs two at a time. On the third floor he was surprised to hear a droning noise, which turned out to be the cleaner on the fourth, hoovering the office cubicles before the employees arrived. The cleaner, an old woman, nodded to Jude as he walked past, panting slightly.

    "Morning Mr Croshaw"

    "Morning Sophie"

    "Forgot your files again?"

    "Yes" He reached the foot of the stairs to the fifth floor, then paused, and turned back to her. "Do you know where -"

    "Mrs Brenton's office, on top of the printer by the door"

    "Thank you Sophie"

    With that he continued, and when on the fifth floor headed straight for the files. He was once again surprised when he saw a light on at the end of the hall. A door was ajar, light spilling out and shuffling noises coming from inside. With a jolt to his heart, he realised it was one of the company's safe rooms, where they kept both money and confidential client information. It was most certainly not another cleaner, he knew, because those rooms were kept in order by special employees on specific days.

    In his mind, there was only one logical conclusion. They were being robbed.

    He immediately reached for his mobile phone [US audience - see; cell phone], patted his pockets for a moment, and then silently swore. It had been left, of course, next to the files in Mrs Brenton's office. The nearest phone? On the wall opposite the safe room door. Gulping, he summoned his courage and crept forward, shivering slightly at thoughts of 7 ft tall balaclava'd men brandishing shotguns and baseball bats charging from the room with broken safe tucked under one arm.

    Reaching level with the open door, and feeling very sick, Jude was just about to pick up the phone when the figure inside clearly realised someone was there. There was the slam of a safe-door, a rushed movement, and the door swung open to reveal Kyle Green, a young, tall lion co-worker of Jude's, and one of his least favourite people at the office. Kyle, seeing Jude, visibly and instantly relaxed, turning his look of guilty shock into a confident look of unimpressed curiosity. This, somehow, made Jude sink lower than the thought of armed robbers had done.

    "Croshaw," Kyle said, in a slightly surprised but very controlled tone "what the hell are you doing here?"

    "Uh... I... well, I could ask you... ask you the same..." Jude swallowed his feeble retort under Kyle's gaze "Uh... I forgot a file"

    Kyle laughed "You stupid prick. And now I suppose you're going to be telling everyone what you saw, eh?"

    Jude looked down to the floor, noticing several notes sticking out of Kyle's pocket. He said nothing. Kyle moved a step closer.

    "Croshaw! I'm talking to you" Still he said nothing, and after a moment Kyle grabbed him by the jaw, making him wince. "Ok, let's make this simple. Repeat after me: I won't say anything Kyle"

    "I... I won't... won't say anything"

    "The company makes enough money, a few hundred won't make a difference"

    "I know, but-"

    "Say it!"

    "The company makes enough money"

    "People with initiative deserve a bonus if they can find a way to get it"

    "... people with initiative... deserve a... bonus"

    Kyle let him go, and patted him gently on the cheek in a patronising way. He smiled cockily.

    "There. That wasn't so hard, was it? Now you go get your little files, and go on home. Go on" Jude moved swiftly down the corridor, folding his arms tight and clutching them to his chest. After a moment, Kyle called after him. "I've decided to go for the exec position. If I don't get it, I'll know why. So keep your mouth shut"

    Jude paused. Without turning around, he said meekly "Mrs Brenton promised me that position last Christmas..."

    Kyle laughed again, making Jude shudder "Of course she'd promise you that. She knows she can dangle a toy in front of your face and you'll roll over and beg. She doesn't need to ever deliver it, the promise is enough for idiots like you. Guys like me, we actually reach out and take it. And taking her doesn't hurt your chances either" Jude, with his back still to Kyle, closed his eyes tightly and stood silent for a moment, then walked away, leaving Kyle locking up the safe room door and patting down his pockets, smirking.

    Chinatown was its usual bustle, even in the early morning. Xiao Hong had woken early, and rushed over to the restaurant, before the opening hours. It was a general sales technique that if you had a restaurant here it needed to be over-the-top. And... 'Royal China' with its gold lettering and dragon motif was truly over the top. Especially with those stone lions guarding the glass door.

    She hurried inside, and got changed into the qipao. The captain had made sure all the waiters were female, and the qipao was a traditional costume known for its 'legginess.' What was more annoying was it seemed to draw people in too. The over-the-top display worked, people went to chinatown, and they wanted a vastly flashy China, and they got it. She spent the early morning chatting with the other waitresses. The morning was normally quiet, the busiest times to come at lunch and dinner.

    She hoped today for that rare breed of customer that came to eat the food and smiled back, and didn't own young teens that stared through you, or children that howled. The type that was polite in short. With such customers she could almost pretend she wasn't dressed so rediculously. Sighing to herself, she weaved past a few tables, to wait on the few people who had come in the morning and started her working day with those drilled-in words and a smile.

    "Hello sir! Would you like to order drinks first?"

    Jonsi walked along the empty sidewalk in front of an inner city building. It looked like another dime-a-dozen cubicle prison for button down oxford desk jockeys and uptight, sexually depraved managers to him. Not to say he necessarily gave a crap. They all looked the same.

    Jonsi breathed in the night air deeply. He always loved cities at this time of night. So desolate and hardly anyone around, save for the occasional drunken homeless man sitting against the wall. Not at all like New Orleans, but he never felt particularly homesick anymore. “Night time,” he thought to himself “nothing but empty streets, flickering street lamps and beautiful cars lined up perfectly along the sidewalk.” Jonsi liked to appeal to his sense of vanity by thinking that people went through all the painful effort of parallel parking just for him, like a street vendor displaying his wares. “The fruit of another man’s labor, ripe for me to pick,” he thought to himself. He continued strolling along the sidewalk, looking over each car perfectly and stopped along the passenger side of the one car that interested him. Jonsi stood there and smiled deviously to himself.

    He loved this part

    Jonsi braced himself and swung one boot into the passenger side window, hard leather shattering and fragmenting glass. The car’s screeching alarm went off. He ignored it. He’d be long gone before any police would arrive and if the its owner felt like being a hero, well…

    Jonsi loved a good fight.

    Not that he assumed any of them actually knew how to fight worth a damn.

    Jonsi reached in and opened the car door and began sorting through the glove box, the visor, anything he assumed would have some monetary value. He was in luck. Stupid bastard left behind plenty of money and a nice looking watch. He wrapped it around his wrist and tightened the clasps. “I make it look good anyway,” he thought to himself.

    Cierra Yawned as she got up, she had slept for about five hours, twice as long as usual. She looked towards the clock. “Fuck…” She jumped out of Bed into the shower with blistering speed. She turned on the water, it was cold as ice but she didn’t have time to wait for it to warm up if she wanted to eat before she got to her class. After toweling off and getting dressed to what amounted for a modest outfit of White denim and a backless white haltertop with open toed sandals. After washing up she looked out the window of her penthouse apartment down at the city of San Francisco. “I haven’t been to China town in awhile…” She thought aloud before turning and running into the kitchen to grab her pipe. It was full just as she left it. As she was running around she began to take deep hits on the pure Crystal Meth that loaded into the pipe, even then only getting a light buzz out of it.


    To say she was wound up, was an understatement.


    Cierra was known to be many things the most common one was always being in overdrive, all of the time. She didn’t take the elevator, too slow. She took the stairs, and she sprinted down the stairs taking 3-4 steps at a time down twenty stories. She owned the entire building, thanks to massive windfall she had gotten from her father. Anything that she did in life was because she had wanted to do it, not because she had to do it. After about two minutes she reached the parking garage. After she opened the main garage door she jogged over to her car that she had just imported from Germany. She looked at the car and ran her palm over of the crisp white paint “Welp time to have some fun…” She hopped into the car turning it on. She giggled in delight as the V10 engine under the hood roared the life. She slammed the car into reverse backing out of the parking space with more speed than was recommended. Once she corrected she switched to first gear and slammed on the accelerator. Leaving strips of rubber on the cement floor of the parking garage, she had classes to attend to at ten am and it was eight thirty now. She figured she would have enough time to eat and make it to the opening of her first class of the semester.


    Pulling out of the front doors of the McNamara Residential building doing at about fifty Miles per hour she was able to drift into the road. She had the building placed near an interstate on ramp when it was built so it would make it easier for her to access any other part of the city in as little time as possible. After getting onto the interstate she rode the speed limit the entire way to China town. It took her less than ten minutes to cross San Francisco and make it Chinatown. “That has to be a record or something…” She thought as she pulled into a parking space outside of “Royal China” She looked at the name and almost pulled out. It was something about the little lions out front that made her stay. “Hmmm, right might as well give it a try, it’ll do some good to change things up from my normal haunts.” She said getting out of the car locking it behind her. As she got out she put on some polarized sun glasses to complete her look. She couldn’t help but smile looking up at the name again, “Someone is trying to impress people…”


    She walked in the front the door looking around. The interesting thing about Cierra was while she was extremely wealthy she didn’t dress much different from members of the middle class. Aside from the fact that there was a car worth over half a million in the parking lot, but that could be over looked.
    After getting into the Royal China she would take a seat.


    When a Waitress came over would she order.


    “Drinks? Yes can I get a shot or two of Jack Daniels please, as for a meal could I get some Cha Siu and Siu Yok? I would be very thankful; also if you have some Four Loko I would like some of that as well.” She smiled politely. She seemed rather knowledgeable for average person of the middleclass. One odd thing about her was that she talked rather fast, ok really fast. But she was still understandable.

    It was in Hong's honest opinion that the lady who'd entered for a meal, had no need for any form of energy drink. The lady seemed fairly... active. She could see from the corner of her eye, a group of people circling the car the dragon-bat had driven and they had mobile phones out, taking photos. Her first impression was that of a rich-bit-- person.

    Though her smile as she took the order was no less genuine, the dragon-bat had some knowledge, and it was always nice that people tried. Scribbling the order down, she went off to return with the Four Loko, and a Jack Daniels from the bar. It was an odd request, but truth be told, this woman came across as something of a celebrity. Your usual customer not in the habit of wearing sunglasses indoors.

    "The food will take a minute." She said.

    Janet had gone to the morning ritual required of her, and was starving afterward. For some reason, they had put her as the head of the ceremony and decided to have it all the way in Chinatown. She was drowsey and cranky and hungry, and Larry had come again, this time injured from a fight. She took a deep breath and sighed. Ranting to herself like this was not the best way to start the day. She was walking to the bus stop to catch a ride back to the building provided her, when she passed a flashy chinese restaurant and her stoach growled. After all the events of last night, she was more than ready to spoil herself a bit, and chinese was the best way to do that. There was a flashy car out front, but Janet took no mind of it. The lions out front were impressive, though, and the one on the right almost looked her mother's father on a good day.

    As she walked in she was greeted in a surprised way, "Good Morning, Mother. Let me show you to your table." Taken aback, Janet realized she was still in her robes from the ceremony, easily labeling herself as a SoulHealer of rank, 'Mother' Janet. For some reason, people liked to show their respect to her, even after she asked them not to. This was going to be a long day. She was seated next to a dragon-bat, and told someone would be with her shortly. Janet's raven wings barely fit into the stall, but she managed to make herself comfortable by some miracle of the Gods. She looked over the menu and eventually the waitress came back, with an energy drink and booze for an already hyper dragon-bat. If she gets drunk, I'm not helping her...

    Jude walked down the street carrying his briefcase in one hand, files safely tucked away inside, and his phone in the other, clearly talking to a superior.

    "No, no, of course, Mrs Brenton, I understand... Yes, I think - Pardon? Oh, sorry, no, I've got them with me at the - yes, yes of course. I'm sorry, Mrs Brenton. What's that? Right now? Uh..." he lowered the phone and looked around, before continuing "Chinatown. No, no, I was just walking through, I was going to -
    No, you're right, of course. I'm sorry, Mrs Brenton. A pick-up would be great, yes, thank you. Uhm..." he stopped and looked around again "just outside a restaurant, the 'Royal China'. Right. Right, yes, I'll be waiting there for the car. Good bye Mrs -
    What's that? Oh. You've decided who got the promo -
    ... Right. No, no, I understand. Absolutely. Well tell Kyle I said congratulations. Hmm? Oh... right, yes, sorry. I mean 'Mr Green'. I'll be back as soon as I can. Goodbye Mrs Brenton"

    Slowly Jude hung up the phone. For a while he just stood staring at it, then slowly placed it in his pocket, and stood on the edge of the pavement (sidewalk) looking out for his ride. After a minute or so of this, he appeared to reach a sudden decision, and whirled round and marched into the Royal China. He walked directly up to one of the waitresses and said "I'll have the strongest drink you have"

    While Janet was waiting to order, she saw a clearly disturbed ferret enter the building. He asked the waitress for the strongest drink they had and she seated him at the bar. Janet left a note on the table telling the waitress where she went and went over to him. Exuding a calming presence she sat next to him. "Hello child." Her voice had taken on that of a concerned mother, a calming trick she had learned while in her apprenticeship. "What is troubling you? Don't worry, you can tell me. Everything you say will be kept in the utmost confidence." The waitress came over with his drink, and Janet pointed to what she wanted on the menu, trying to keep silent until he would speak. After the waitress left, Janet let out a soft purr to further calm him.

    Jude stood in surprise, shocked to see a SoulHealer in a Chinese restaurant at this time, or at all really. Especially one talking to him.

    "M'lady" he spluttered, then shook his head quickly "I mean... moth... mother... sorry, I.... ahh"

    After she spoke, he slowly sat down again, feeling a little calmer already, although still agitated. "Where to begin..." he sighed, taking a sip of his drink before choking on it, spluttering and coughing. He turned to Janet clearly embarrassed, croaking "It's a bit strong"
    He cleared his throat, pushed the drink away, and leant forward on the table, looking down but speaking to Janet.
    "I just... I just don't know where I'm going, y'know? I don't mind my job, really I quite like it, but nothing I do seems to get me anywhere. I'm sure I have the ability to do it, I mean, sure I make a few mistakes every now and again, and I'm a bit clumsy. But it's small things. Like, ok, so, this morning I forgot these files, right, and..."
    Until that point he had been getting more relaxed, but suddenly he broke off "Sorry. I'm babbling. My point is, where I work... nice guys sort of finish last. And the people who... well... the people who don't seem to care, or to play by the rules... they get ahead. They get all the promotions, and I'm stuck being the errand boy. I'm afraid it'll be like that forever, that I'll just keep letting people walk all over me. It's just hard, you know?"

    She continued to exude the aura of calming, it appeared to be helping him. She was concerned for him and wished she could do more for him, especially as he was a welcome change from the drunk college students that were always beating on her door. "I understand, child." She patted him on the shoulder. "It will get better. You need just need more confidence, and maybe a career change." She paused to let him think over her words. "There might be a position opening at the local Whisperhouse, a few blocks down. Could you tell me more about your current position?" The waitress came over with Janet's order an started placing the dishes down. She had ordered enough food for two, hoping that she could get him to speak more. She figured that she might as well, all expenses were covered by her scholarship. That included those used for helping the people of the area. "While we talk, would you care to join me for breakfast, sir?"

    After finishing up relieving the vehicle of anything of worth he could find, he continued his aimless stroll down the sidewalk. Somehow his walk took him to China town. He stopped in front of a rather flashy Chinese restaurant and figured he might as well get a bit tipsy.

    On his way in, he noticed the expensive looking car parked out front. At first he simply continued walking to the entrance, but he stopped mid stride. Another devious smile grew on his face. He walked over to the side of the car and took the liberty of relieving himself in the gas tank. Then he zipped up and made his way inside.

    Xiao Hong watched as the restaurant filled. This morning had not been quiet at all, and the other waitresses were hopping to it. The captain, a tiger, had even come out and was making rounds, asking with a smile and nod whether everything was to the eater's satisfaction. This was his way of making sure he was seen as 'there' if there were any issues. She hurried out with two dishes of pork, one barbequed and honey glazed, the other fried and salted, placing them before the dragon-bat. It was as she did so, that she saw the other customers entering. A 'mother' as they were themselves known, looked like a hybrid, definately wolf there, and some type of feline, what looked like a ferret down on his luck.... and a dog, that looked to be troublesome. The bartender would tell Jude that he could bring the drink over to a table, if he desired, offering his own subtle advice.

    Having served the wealthy lady, she made her way to the front of the restaurant where the currently unseated shepherd stood.
    "What drinks can I serve you? Tea is free." Was said in a voice that accurately conveyed a disbelief in the receiver's ability to pay for the drinks.

    Jonsi spared a glance at the waitress. Good to see the Chinese understood the finer points of making employees more attractive. A result of their communist origins? Jonsi didn't really care. He dug into his pocket and flicked one of his recently procured twenty dollar bills. "Get me a Jose Cuervo. Just the bottle. No glass. And hurry it up." Jonsi snapped his fingers. He felt the need to get drunk real fast tonight. He looked over at the dragon-bat and couldn't help but wonder if that was her car he'd pissed in.

    Cierra had actually been looking out the window at her car when the dog had decided he was going to be funny. It took most of herself control to not wing the shot glass at him when came in the door. Oh he has no idea… She thought to herself as her food came over. During his little stunt outside she had taken the liberty to record the event on her Smart phone so she would have as proof. She then emailed herself a copy of the video for safe keeping she also sent a copy to her boyfriend as well.

    When the food came she thanked the Waitress in Mandarin before she began to eat her food. While she didn’t say anything when the Sheppard looked her way his glance was returned with Icy Glare before she made a small motion that was simple. She was telling him to come over and sit down.

    While she waited, she kept eating; this girl needs a little reward putting up with this day in and day out… She thought as she mused how much she was going to tip the waitress.

    Jonsi returned the dragon bat’s glare with a wide smile of feigned innocence. Not a doubt in his mind that it was her car. He left the waitress behind and walked over to the table, not taking his eye off of the strange woman who waved him over. On his way over, there was a man who had left his jacket draped over the back of his seat which had a clean silver cigarette lighter peeking out of one of the pockets. Jonsi covertly took the lighter out of the pocket and slipped it up his sleeve. It might come in handy soon.

    As the hybrid bat shot her icy stare at him, he saw something…odd. He couldn’t quite place it. It was as though they were in some way similar. On the same end of two different spectrums. As the Australian shepherd sat down in the chair, he fully understood what it was; a sense of rivalry. The thrill of having a worthy opponent. He wondered if she felt the same way. More than likely, the hybrid thought he was just another homeless drunken vagrant.

    Oh how he would revel in proving her wrong

    Jonsi made himself comfortable in the seat. “So,” he began “something I can do for you miss?”

    An owl glided down from a rooftop and landed in front of a construction worker, a Soulspeaker of low rank. This project was coming along quite nicely. The worker jumped and immediately dropped to his knees.

    "Holy One..." He continued to bow, afraid to even look at a creature so holy. The holy one folded his wins around him like a cloak, resembling a wise, old man.

    "I am to start my breathing exercises soon," his wide eyes stared down to the worker. "Would you please set up the chamber for me?"

    "Of course Holy One, right away!" the worker ran off. Amazed that the holy one had actually spoke to him! The Holy One was a brown barn owl, with a white aura that spread to eight feet away from his body. He was elderly but still lively. The worker put a bonsai tree in the room that he used and placed down a simple bamboo mat. Then he left. The Holy One entered the room shortly after, sitting on the mat. As he practiced the ancient Taoist breathing exercises He thought about how mush he had accomplished so far. He had created the soulwhisper, bringing it to power. He had gotten laws made and now he was remodeling an entire town for a very special ceremony. This was going to be his hour....

    Chad R. Dagmorre realized that he probably didn't look like a slayer in a Hawaiian shirt and sweat pants, but as far as he was concerned, the dove wings coming out of his rubbery back were more than enough. Not to mention the sword and pistol at his side that clanked together as he moved. People that passed him too close would find spots on their bodies a bit wet from the moisturized aura the dolphin had to create to survive.

    At the moment, the soulslayer was searching the area around the latest car robbery, sighing as no clues seem to come up. Coming around the corner, he stopped in mid-stride, recognizing the friggen expensive car sitting outside the flashy restaurant. At the same time, the phone in his pocket went off with a video message. Opening the file, the soulslayer's face suddenly flushed in anger. A sigh escaped him as he slowly entered the diner.

    His first reaction was to bow respectfully to the young mother speaking to a ferret at the bar. His next was to lock eyes with Cierra, giving the dragon-bat a brow raise, gesturing questioningly at the one she was talking to, quietly asking for confirmation before he started cracking heads...

    A young wolf is spotted walking casually along the sidewalk in China Town. His hands were in his pockets as he seemed relaxed with his bag swung over his side. He was whistling, maybe just enjoying the walk. He soon turned to his right almost instinctively as he entered an alley way. Once in that small, narrow alley though, his demeanor seemed to change instantly.

    The small wolf looked around and then looked back, spotting no people he stopped whistling and smirked. He looked around the alley in search of something and bared a toothy grin as he spotted it, the fire escape stairs onto the building. He quickly dashed towards them and vaulted onto the dumpster. From there he leaped and barely grabbed onto the bottom step of the ladder but he didn't seem worried. He hoisted himself up and began climbing. Within a minute or two he had already soared up the escape ladder set and was on top of the building.

    From there he crouched low and began to move towards the edge of the building. He peaked his head over to see the sight of the man at the expensive car looking into the Chinese restaurant. He seemed curious but shook his head and went back to work. He took off his bag and begin to rummage through it carefully. He pulled out his Ipad with a devious smirked as he stealthily walked towards the edge of the building and aimed his Ipad towards the nearest traffic light. His claws began to race along the Ipad before he placed it back into his bag right next to GIR.

    He snickered to himself and shook his head as he made his way down the fire escape from which he came. He emerged and began walking down the street towards the Chinese Restaurant and began whistling. I hope these people don't have anywhere to go in the nearby future he thought to himself as he made his way towards UCSF. As he passed the same traffic light he had just aimed his Ipad at, the light immediately turned red and the WALK/DONT WALK sign turned to Don't Walk. From then on every light in China town along with every civilian walks signed changed to the same thing saying Don't Walk or being Red.

    Before the ferret could continue speaking again, Janet noticed a SoulSlayer come up and bow to her in respect, and she gave a quick bow back making a gesture as to say she was a little busy at the moment. He seemed to understand, as he walked away towards the dragon-bat's table and it's new addition, the dog that had huge smirk on it's face. This was going to get interesting, and she may be needed for emergency healing, as SoulSlayers were not known for being the gentlest to handle matters of any kind. Cautiously keeping an eye on the situation that could develop, she picked up a dish and started eating, urging the ferret to join her. Hopefully, she could solve his problem before any real trouble could occur.

    The Holy One continued to meditate, and finally came to the conclusion that he had started on his plan too soon. This was going to take a few more days, if not weeks, than he had planned. He clicked his beak together in disappointment. He finished his exercises and left the room. The worker that had set up the room came to clear it. The bonsai tree was now a husk. It seemed a bit odd, but maybe it had been that way when he put it in there...

    "I... I really shouldn't... I have a car coming to pick me up any minute..." at this he looked out of the window, and saw a traffic jam. His company's car was nowhere to be seen.
    "Huh... I guess it might be a while. I suppose I can join you. Thank you very much for the offer"
    He lifted some food to his mouth, paused, then lowered it back down again. He looked at Janet, embarrassed.
    "I'm sorry, but I kind of feel I have to tell you this: I'm... ah..." He rubbed the back of his neck "It's just... I don't really do the whole... belief... thing. I mean, it's great that you do, but... er, what I mean is, it's not like I have a problem with it, it's great that you people believe in all that stuff. Not... not that you people are different from... not like you people and us people, I didn't mean that, but... oh god. Damn, I mean... not god, but..." He slapped his forehead, eyes closed in a sort of wince "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to say all that"

    “Yep you can Siphon your piss out of my gas tank.” The Statement was flat and emotionless. She fiddled with her phone a bit replaying the video of someone who he was easily able to tell was him pissing her gas tank. She barely even took a break from eating to say it. After the video was done playing she sent a text to Chad. 'Yes this is the little fuck, please be a dear and have him Siphon his piss out of my gas tank.' She sent it before putting her Phone away.

    When the hybrid gave her terse request, Jonsi’s smile split into a loud, obnoxious laugh. After a few minutes his laugh died down back to his arrogant smile. “So blunt,” said Jonsi “whatever happened to civil discourse?” As the she showed Jonsi the video on her phone, he merely commented, “Does my ass really look that big on camera? Huh. Well, merde résistante, beb.” He paused for a moment. Did he really expect her to know Cajun French? Then he translated “Tough shit honey. But thing is, I don’t really give a damn about your car. What I DO want to know is what YOU intend to do about it right now.”

    The first move made.

    There was a sharp clack as Chad's pistol smacked against his sword, standing behind Jonsi like some sort of dark angel, "Excuse me my son," he said with a bladed tone, holding up his own phone, playing the video Cierra had emailed him as the arrogant little shit turned around, "do you recognize the person in this video? I thought you might. Let me tell you what I see in this video child, by law I see an account of indecent exposure, an account of vandalism, and an account of disorderly conduct. I don't know how well versed in law you are my son, but two out of three of those are felonies... do you understand where I'm going with this?"

    The dolphin stared at Jonsi as if staring into his very soul, "Here's the deal my son, I'm a very generous man: you can either do as the lady asks and I forget I ever saw this video or you can sit in jail for a few days," his hand went to his pistol, driving the point home, "I would very much hate to put a strapping you lad like you in prison with the tough criminals we have in there these days, but it's your decision my son." The dolphin's eyes never left Jonsi, never even blinked, a little something Chad had found worked well with intimidation and was a relatively simple trick.

    Chad knew he was going to run. He was caught, there was proof, and there was only one way out: past Chad. He was either going to run, or fight and Chad was prepared for either, his hand equally between his pistol and sword...

    Xiao Hong served the free tea on the tables now being sat at! It looked to be /very/ busy this morning. She was worried about the dolphin as most right-thinking people are when armed people enter their places of work, but the wings said he could be trusted. Hong didn't know about that, religion rarely bothered to make sense, and armed religions even less so.

    She could hear the drifter speaking, and suspected trouble, with the armed fellow behind him in the restaurant too. Trouble not on the horizon. It was just two feet away.

    She came over to the table, with the drink the drifter had ordered in one hand and a tea pot in the other. She thumped the drink down on the table.
    "Your drink. You pay, then leave. You are trouble. Sir."

    Her clothes felt slightly damp near the dolphin. Was she sweating?

    Jonsi’s grin seemed to grow even wider once the soulslayer came, unimpressed by his stare. He had been through things this man had most likely only heard about. Machetes pressed against his throat, knotted hemp tied around his neck ready to be yanked upward, and shot at on several occasions. The threat of death no longer scared him. But rather than run, he stood up from his chair, meeting the dolphin’s gaze without saying a word. He was less than a centimeter away from Jonsi's face now. His stare was one of arrogance and vanity, matching his smile.

    Once the bottle of tequila came, he took it by the neck, not taking his stare away from the dolphin and with one hand and downed half the bottle with a few gulps. He was already starting to feel dizzy once he put it down. He put his hands in his pockets, once again feeling the lighter. He turned his head upward as though there were something interesting on the ceiling.

    "I ain't your son."



    Jonsi acted quickly, bringing his forehead down on the dolphin’s face as hard as he could. Then he kicked him back in the chest, giving Jonsi some room. “I better get it right this time,” he thought to himself.

    The lighter’s ultimate purpose was revealed as he flicked the slide and held it up to his lips, warming them with the flickering ember. Jonsi took in a large breath and blew as hard as he could. The alcohol on his breath ignited and a tongue of brilliant flame extended from his mouth. Jonsi didn’t wait to see what effect that would have on him and sprinted back outside through the exit, but not before smiling back at the hybrid and waving goodbye. Jonsi ran down the street as fast as he could.

    Chad was both surprised... and infuriated. Having seen the flicker of flame, he'd gone on the defensive, practically drowning himself as he moisturized the air to the point of it raining around him, flame meeting water and making it hiss into steam. The dolphin was in no mood for games as he felt the vibrations of running feet, twisting on his heel and giving chase. Chasing the little prick was pointless, Chad knew he wouldn't run him down, this boy was probably used to running, so the soulslayer did the next best thing. Grabbing the seating bench just outside the door, Chad packed enough power to break the skull of an elephant into his left arm, carefully judged his aim, then let all of the energy loose in a massive typhoon, sending the bench slamming with all the force of a football player into Jonsi's back.

    Chad cursed as lines of blood appeared along his left arm, dripping onto the pavement below him. All in all, it wasn't bad. He'd suffered worse from his powers. Chad raced to the fallen punk and produced his pistol with a click, "Now let's add aggravated assault, attempted murder, and arson to that resume of yours huh," placing a foot in Jonsi's back, Chad produced a pair of handcuffs and proceeded to cuff the little punk, "you have the right to remain silent, and i pray you use it. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you can not afford one, one will be appointed to you."

    The wolf's ears perked as he stopped walking and whistling. His head turned to watch the sight of Jonsi sprinting down the street towards him. The wolf's mind flickered with an idea but as he saw the bench come flying from down the street he smirked and said nothing. As he watched the bench make contact he smirked Ouch that's gotta hurt he thought to himself. Jace's eyes widened soon as he saw that the bench kept on its rocket path after smashing into Jonsi.

    "For the love of..." Jace said as he positioned himself. As the bench neared his right arm clenched into a fist and he sent into straight through the bench, shattering it into pieces and sighing with relief. His eyes then buckled and zoomed into the soulslayer.

    "Hey! Next time watch it with that arm of yours! A citizen coulda gotten hurt 'cause of you!" Jace yelled as he sighed and began to pick up the pieces of wood and metal from the bench, shoving them into his backpack.

    Jonsi hardly felt the bench when it struck thanks to his dear friend Jose but he went down nonetheless. He struggled as hard as he could beneath the dolphin. Damn the futility of it. He didn’t necessarily care if he went to jail or not. Hell, compared to Mexico the jails here were god damned hotels. But he refused to be put away without a fight. Not after everything that had happened to him. “Throw me in with the worst then,” Jonsi said “I’ve had better sex while in jail.” Jonsi gave another laugh.

    For some reason, he wondered if the dolphin ever used that gun before. Another ‘brilliant’ idea struck him.

    The Holy One walked down the street of the town in renovation. It was coming along nicely, and beginning early just meant he had more time to prepare. As he turned a corner, he encountered a young Mother of the SoulHealer rank. She was pretty otter, only 25 a very dedicated student. Not as good as one of his most prized disciples, but good nonetheless. Her natural ability was to see slightly into the future, and that is why he kept her around. Lately, though, she had been seeing things that she would not tell him, and actually using her power to avoid him. They were the only two in this space between buildings. He left, she didn't. The next day, her body was found, a frail shell of what she had been. It was as if she had aged a hundred years. An investigation was started, headed by The Holy One himself. No one was found, and the investigation had come to the conclusion that it must have been a wandering local, unable to control a newly discovered power. They would try to find him and teach him control. For now, the joyous work continued.
