Game of Thrones series

So I've just managed to watch the first episode of Game of Thrones. I think this is a solid series, but I will have to watch the rest to know for sure. All I know is that after one episode, I am hooked. I've not read the books, but this TV show is great from what I can see. Very well written, well shot, just plain well done.

No spoilers, but has anyone here been following it?

I haven't seen any of the series. You should really read the books first but that would take you awhile since the books are all over 1000 pages each and the fifth book comes out on the 12th this month

I'll get to the books eventually. So far though, I am enjoying the series. I don't feel like I'm missing anything by not having read them, in fact maybe I'm at an advantage here since I don't have pre-concieved expectations. All I can say is that this is excellent television and we need more of that sort of thing.

oh I have no doubt about that. It looks amazing and I can't wait for the season to come out on dvd. I love the books and I'm sure I'll love the show. I just got my copy of the fifth book and I'm really enjoying it.

Well I've finally finished off the first series. Damn, what a show that was. I heard it wasn't quite as good as the book, but if that's the case then the book has to be pretty epic, because that show was awesome.

I really like how Denerys went from being this girl that was pushed around by her brother to an absolute badass. If I get tired of waiting on the next series, I may go ahead and start listening to all the audiobooks.

I really can't recommend this series enough!

to bad it doesn't get the attention it deserves (i'm talking about the books btw) i really hope this will shine some light on the author and his works

I'm pretty sure that it will. I'll be looking at the books soon, but for now I have 5 books left in the Saga of the Seven Suns to listen to, so I'll be busy for a while. I don't doubt though that after seeing the TV series a lot of people will be turning to the books to see what happens next. After all Season 2 is still a few months away.

even without seeing what they did in the series I can say with a certainty that it will blow you away

So Season 2 now one week in with the second episode airing tonight. I'm curious what you folks are thinking of it so far?

I'm enjoying it, and I haven't read the books yet. Over the first season I was confused in a few spots, but overall everything was cleared up towards the end. I'm wondering if that's going to continue, or whether they are going to just assume that everyone who's watching it has read the books. If they go that route I think they're probably going to be in trouble.

from what i've seen of the first season they're only showing you the main story point with a little character development. I haven't seen season 2 yet but i'm sure it will begin to heat up once the action of season 2 and 3 kick in
