I sincerely hope that's a lie. If it's PC exclusive then it'll be out of my reach... I hate PC exclusives, means I have to spend an entire years pay just to get a new computer... fudge the PC industry T_T

Some more details about this. It seems like the game is going to be called MechWarrior Online. It will be an online only game. The game will be free to play but have micro-transactions for mechs and other gear. No word yet on a solid release date though. Oh, and the game will be running on CryTek's CryEngine 3, so expect it to have some hefty system requirements.

Well, that pretty much kills any interest in it from me. An exclusive online release - meaning only multiplayer play? No single player story or missions lineups?
Yeah, I was looking way forward to it. But with my intense dislike for online games (and their addictiveness), not to mention my modem's inability to keep up with such fare, as much as I was looking forward to this, I think the new Mechwarrior is a game I am going to have to miss.
Bleh and these exceedingly lucrative online markets. Create some maps, some mechs and let the players go at it. Minimal costs, future projections for mondo money as players get hooked and spend out of pocket to get stuff they can't get from the free release, but absolutely nothing for the single-player lovers out there like me.
This business with porting it only for the PC is bogus, too.
Like BIos said, it is going to leave a lot of people with consoles out.
Man, whatever happened to the Mechwarrior genre? Apparently, it has fallen by the wayside of landing into the hands of money-grubbing corporations. Well, I hope you make the money, dudes. But you won't be making any off of me.

Re: MechWarrior Reboot is still alive
I think a game needs to stand on it's singleplayer mode, because if its multiplayer turns to a ghost yard a couple months after release, that game becomes virtually worthless.
I'm looking at you, Shattered Horizon.

I am looking forward to it for sure. Not much to say about it so soon though for me.

Re: MechWarrior Reboot is still alive
We'll have to wait and see how it's going to be handled. A MechWarrior MMO could turn out to be either awesome or horrendous. We won't know which until it finally comes out. These types of games typically stay PC exclusive with only a handful of exceptions, and when they do make their way to console they just don't work well.
Not sure how they will handle single player/soloing, but I'm sure they will have some sort of provision in there for that.
