Gene War: The Aftermath
In the distant future, a genetic war was waged between nations. In the end, a great plague of beasts swept across the world. This catastrophe was the Gene War, a war bent on winning at any cost. Each side of the escalating war sent waves of ever deadlier bio-forms against each other, and the arms race for the 'perfect' bio-form was at an all time high. The world sank into ruin with the accidental release of a experimental bio-weapon, reducing the environments to mere shells of what they once were, creating large deserts or otherwise inhospitable terrain across the American continent, and perhaps others. The survivors are scattered across the continent are under constant attack by the hordes of the monstrous beasts called 'Wels', cut off from the world in little groups, where only the strong and quick witted survive. Many of the military bred bio-forms survive still, roving in packs or rouge 'military' units. Humans are almost extinct, and most surviving bio-forms do not fare any better. And now, years after the accidental release of the Wels, life begins to stir once more within the depths of the abandoned MAGE genetic testing compound. Emerging from the depths of the mysterious and long forgotten complex the ones that have awoken may call home, the test subjects find themselves nestled deep underground in the fields of cryogenic pods. This complex lies almost entirely under the ground, and is covered with the strange acronym "M.A.G.E.". Those that have awoken seem to remember next to nothing of how they came to be there, or why, barring vague memories of scientists and tests, or fights against other beings. Those that venture outside the subterranean complex find a barren, inhospitable landscape dotted with scraggly bushes here and there. And off in the horizon to the north, the jagged towers of a forgotten city, the slumbering corpse of a giant long left to it's own demise. Those that awaken must struggle to accept their differences and unite to survive. What ghosts of the past might they find, and will they find other survivors of the holocaust that tore the world asunder? And will such survivors herald them as friend, or foe? Thus begins the tale of the post apocalyptic era called "The Aftermath".
This proposed RP, should you choose to accept, places you as an engineered "bio-form" waking hundreds of years since the downfall of 'modern' civilization into a desolate world dotted by the occasional oasis or barbaric tribe. Modern technology is almost as magic in this age, and bio-forms walk the earth bearing genetically engineered abilities; Be they psionics, enhanced combat abilities, or outright bio-weapons. Each 'race' of bioform bears identical power and abilities; just as they were engineered to be: Dependable and replaceable.
Characters that join could have one 'perfected' power as a 'Production Model Bio-Form', or up to three special experimental abilities as a 'Experimental Bio-Form', but must still demonstrate limits as all powers in this world should still be draining to use in some fashion. With combat types, adrenal modifications and neural conductivity may boost strength and speed in times of danger, but it proves too tiring to maintain for long periods. Psionics exorcizing their mental capabilities too often may instead feel migraines, exhaustion/pass out, or nosebleeds/temporary 'burnout' from excessive use. Be creative in your faults!
Production Line Bio-Forms are capable of performing their special ability regularly and without undue fatigue, but the experimental bio-forms with multiple abilities tire or suffer from burnout quickly. Some may even die by using their imperfect abilities too often and tearing apart their own bodies or pushing past their limits and frying their own brains!
So, are there any here brave enough to wake from their slumber, or shall their world remain a silent grave forever?(3+ people to start, preferably, not including myself. Open to late joiners later, too.^^ if I get enough interested, I'll post a OCC thread for character profiles.)

Re: Gene War: The Aftermath
This sure could be interesting! I'm feeling like possibly playing a slightly crazy character for once, which is quite reasonable with brain chemistry that's been tampered with wildly.

Now that is one helluva post-apocalyptic rp, sounds like a good time, you've got my interest ^^

Re: Gene War: The Aftermath
My interest depends greatly on environment. If the city is not functioning but still has it's structures and such, I would enter there to be found by others. Or just travel strait there from the start, to then be found later. That is if the entire place is a sandy waste, as I understood it. Seen allot of sandy wastes in games and movies lately :/ But ruins are cool on their own and I would like playing in such. Time allowing~

Re: Gene War: The Aftermath
The city itself is still standing(mostly) but long abandoned and left to decay, much like the rest of the 'world'. The ruins themselves are ironically the most plant heavy. They are absolutely overgrown with plantlife, with vines coating smaller buildings, and grass and bushes growing out of every nook and cranny. Some of the crumbling roofs even have years old trees growing through them. As to the sandy waste, not quite. think more like the dusty earth. Plenty of usable soil, it just hasn't been recovered by plant life, yet. The landscape as I had planned it is basically treeless. theres the occasional 6 or so year sapling, but underbrush has taken hold in clumps. There are a lot of open areas where nothing but foot high grass grows, along with all of the hardier and prolific plants/weeds. In between these stretches of greenery(perhaps a mile or so patches of life dotting the landscape), only the toughest and quickest growing plants have taken hold, dotting the dusty barren earth. So lots of dandelions and other prolific seeding plants dot the land, but nothing really covers the expanse of open dirt.
I'll go ahead and post the thread later tonight, I'll wait to see if there is additional interest tonight(yow that was fast).

Re: Gene War: The Aftermath
Oh right on, well that is encouraging. I would like the city a good bit indeed then and the rest sounds tolerable.
