    Default Gene War: The Aftermath (OCC)

    In the distant future, a genetic war was waged between nations. In the end, a great plague of beasts swept across the world. This catastrophe was the Gene War, a war bent on winning at any cost. Each side of the escalating war sent waves of ever deadlier bio-forms against each other, and the arms race for the 'perfect' bio-form was at an all time high. The world sank into ruin with the accidental release of a experimental bio-weapon, reducing the environments to mere shells of what they once were, creating large deserts or otherwise inhospitable terrain across the American continent, and perhaps others. The survivors are scattered across the continent are under constant attack by the hordes of the monstrous beasts called 'Wels', cut off from the world in little groups, where only the strong and quick witted survive. Many of the military bred bio-forms survive still, roving in packs or rouge 'military' units. Humans are almost extinct, and most surviving bio-forms do not fare any better. And now, years after the accidental release of the Wels, life begins to stir once more within the depths of the abandoned MAGE genetic testing compound. Emerging from the depths of the mysterious and long forgotten complex the ones that have awoken may call home, the test subjects find themselves nestled deep underground in the fields of cryogenic pods. This complex lies almost entirely under the ground, and is covered with the strange acronym "M.A.G.E.". Those that have awoken seem to remember next to nothing of how they came to be there, or why, barring vague memories of scientists and tests, or fights against other beings. Those that venture outside the subterranean complex find a barren, inhospitable landscape dotted with scraggly bushes here and there. And off in the horizon to the north, the jagged towers of a forgotten city, the slumbering corpse of a giant long left to it's own demise. Those that awaken must struggle to accept their differences and unite to survive. What ghosts of the past might they find, and will they find other survivors of the holocaust that tore the world asunder? And will such survivors herald them as friend, or foe? Thus begins the tale of the post apocalyptic era called "The Aftermath".


    This RP is set, of course, in a sci-fi world where genetic manipulation was the key technology in warfare and even day to day lives. In this world psionics are a real and palpable threat, just as test tube 'weapons' built and bred for front line combat. Psionics in this game is the 'catch all' for unexplained fluctuations of power. Common mental powers such as telekinesis and electrokinesis are available, but so are more esoteric mystical powers can be, such as touch-based healing, energy fields, and others as strange variations of psionic abilities. The only real 'banned' abilities are ones that grant control over other characters, or others that are too OP for use in post-apocalyptia.(Sorry for the delay, but I was roped into going to a place for a few days with only sporadic internet at best. ^^; )

    Attire: default is cryo clothes(spiffy white jammies), but REAL clothes can be gotten later.

    Powersowers are explainable as some form of genetic manipulation. if you can not come up with a viable reason for the power, then you don't get it. I'll probably work with you and try to get an explanation, but I can't make any promises. For example, various telekinetic or empathetic abilities are due to a change in the cerebral cortex/lobes. eye lasers and whatnot are a little beyond the scope of the game.

    Physical Build: muscular frame on thick bones.

    physical description: Dispute the draconic looks this 'dragon' is wingless, sporting thick powerful arms and legs each bearing wicked claws. His imposing bipedal appearance is related to the iconic dragon like features instilled into his form. He has a large, triangular head full of sharp, shark like teeth. Each tooth is serrated and deadly, like steak knives. The scales and skin are tough and durable, providing enough protection to stop a low powered handgun, such as a .22, by itself. His muscled frame leaves little to the imagination about his physical prowess. While his strength and speed are a bit above board naturally, the scientists allowed for 'limiter removal' for his running and raw strength in times of need. unfortunately, this also meant he might accidentally cripple or even kill himself if he didn't allow himself time to rest and recuperate before using his inordinate strength again.

    Superior strength: capable of temporary feats of super-strength, but subjects have shown acute muscle tearing and degeneration with repeated or extended use.

    Speed burst: capable of short bursts of high speed runs, like cheetahs. Still experimental, and tires subject too much. repeated uses can cause extreme exhaustion leading to spontaneous blackouts.

    Memory Fragment(what you remember of before cryo sleep): Remembers seeing scientists and them talking about 'viable experiment' and 'fixing degeneration in future models'

    Personality: The grunt-like Tellurian named Gamble is a level headed sort who prides physical ability and visible assets. Despite his name, he prefers to make decisions based on tactical approach then to 'risking it'. Unfortunately, this mindset seems to apply to the whole of his thinking. From making friends/allies, to wearing clothes, everything is a tactical decision to him. He has a love for combat and military items like a militia man or war-nut.

    Full description: Aylin is a powerfully built person, modeled after two of the greatest predators ever, Siberian Tigers, and Man. He possesses great body strength on par with a professional bodybuilder. His fur can shed or grow to match the temperature, making him able to be comfortable anywhere from the Himalayas to Death Valley. His tail is quite dexterous in its own right, able to support his entire weight if necessary.

    Attire: Cryo-jammies.

    Powers:
    Telepathy: Due to the addition of an engineered organ attached to his spine, he can get a general sense of whats on other peoples mind. Hearing an internal monologue isnt possible, but telling a person is upset because something is missing is. Its basically an advanced electro sensitive organ that can pick up on the tiny electromagnetic emissions of other peoples brains, and he has a programmed in understanding of how to interpret those signals instinctually.

    Over clocked Brain: Another set of modifications to his brain, to make him think faster and react quicker to stimuli, made by making modifications to his brain chemistry and neuron structure.

    Poison sting: Another addition, under his wrists he has a little stinger he can flex to deliver a powerful anesthetic. If he repeatedly injects someone with it, it can induce a coma or even death. In light doses it can cause loopiness and suggestibility, moderate doses cause drowsiness, numbness, and incoherence.

    Personality: Aylin has had his mind tampered with in more ways than one, and it shows. He is very unstable, prone to Emotional swings or difficulty concentrating. He doesnt know how to turn off his Telepathic powers and is driven to all sorts of reactions to it, a sort of madness if you will. However, hes cunning and manipulative, using his telepathy to his advantage in conversations to manipulate people, or using some hypnosis aided by his natural anesthetic to make people more compliant with his suggestions.

    Skin/Fur: Standard King Cheetah patterning.
    Physical Build: Very light, strong frame of a distance runner, her lean muscle is barely visible under her golden fur, with what would seem to be below the minimum body fat percentage.
    physical description: Tall lithe frame of sinewy muscle, her golden and black spotted fur has a very soft look to it, softening the hard details of the muscle hidden beneath. Her chest and belly are a soft creamy white, and she sports a moderate pair across her chest, enough to catch an eye now and again, but not so much so that they either give her back problems or hinder her during running. Her tail is nearly 5' in length to account for her own Tall frame. She has short, sharp claws hidden away in the tip of each of her slender fingers, and the teeth to make any feline proud. Despite her light frame, and lack of physical strength, she has the advantage of momentum and knows how to use it in her strikes, using rapid quick jabs in parallel with quick hard drives to bring down her opponents.

    Powers:
    Bullettime: Cognitive functions increase nearly 400% in response to increases in adriniline and 'panic'. anything from a fight to simply being shot at can trigger the event, depending on the hightened state, it takes anywhere from 20 seconds, to an hour to wear off, decreasing exponentially beyond the 200% marker. Subjects with this augment have been known to have cognitive degeneration, and mental burnouts over extended uses(Temporary burnouts are known to happen during extended use at even so much as 300%), and cereberal damage if induced beyond 600%. Subjects have yet to be able to trigger the event manually, or turn it off manually. Increased Cognative function allows for anything from enhanced reflexes to boost to cognitive processing. Not more intelligent, simply able to process what is known and put 2 and 2 together quicker
    Afterburners: An augment designed specifically for creatures with a natural affinity for agility and speed. allows an increase output across the entire body, both to arms and legs, increasing reflex and top speeds of already fast subjects. Increase is only temporary bursts as continued strain has been known to cause muscle tears and injuries ranging from pulled muscle, to torn ligiments and bone damage resulting in permanent damage to the subject, in some instances degradation to the point that the subject could no longer maintain more than a light jog before the pain was too much.
    Eagle Eye and Ears: On top of having already 20/20 vision, her range of detail is compariable to that of an eagle soaring high in the sky, able to see the splash of a small fish hundreds of feet below. Her range of hearing has also been extended in both directions both in wavelength and amplitude, ocassional sensitivity and headaches can result until subject becomes adjusted to the augment.

    Memory Fragment: Vaguely remembers signing on for a project, but last memory is of looking through the tube and hearing the vague shapes utter 'Scout Program'
    Personality: Quick to act and wild in personality, she's always moving or always wanting to be moving. she loves wild and chaotic strategies over well planned out and orderly executed. Her choice of clothing is a result of her love of running, and is often armorless, or very mimimally protected. She Favors the mixing it up, light, often flashy or showy attire, with or without boots. her choice of weaponry is always a light set of pistol, something she can use in hand to hand, or a single rifle.

Her pink fur is actually a series of metal fibers programmed to look and act like fur save the pigmentation that allowed her to choose the color. She looks normal,but anyone looking under the fur will only find her metal alloy biosuit and cybernetics.

    Powers:Energy Dissipation and Absorbtion Manipulation (Due to a cerebral mutation, Azzra can will energy to dissipate from or congregate into an object. However, the ability takes time, so she can not stop a speeding bullet, but she can compress large amounts of potential energy into an object, like a rock, and make it into something like a makeshift grenade or slow down a physical attack by dissipating energy through air friction at a faster than normal rate.)


    Telekinesis(pretty much self-explanatory, ability to stabilize hold dissipates with distance and size)

    MemoryFragment(what you remember of before cryo sleep): Screaming in agony as her flesh melted off... days spent in a medical facility... crying about people she lost in the accident...

    Personality:Azzra is a scientist by nature, perferring to look at the how rather than the why. She tends to be very impersonal with men, but tender and affectionate to other women. The sight of wounds traumatizes her as they make her flash back. She is easily offended when people ask about her strange fur color or when people make comments about her cybernetics.
