You know you're a SciFi furry when...
You know that you're a SciFi furry when you have a dream that you're a space marine. And you have a talking fox companion.

Hah, actually it wasn't. Well, it sort of was in the sense that it was very interesting, but it was also somewhat horrific. I was in some kind of location that no one could enter or leave (although this did not seem like cause for concern to anyone. Dream logic, whaddaya gonna do?) and someone starts killing people off one by one. It was like a murder mystery thing, only everyone was a space marine (except for the talking fox, another talking animal that was a cat or something, and various rats (don't ask why) who were just normal rats) and the murders were horrific and Saw-like. It was up to me to find out who the murderer was, but I didn't do it in time and he killed me last (turns out it was the Sergeant). Then the whole things starts again where everyone's memory has been wiped except mine, so I know that it's the Sergeant but I can't say until I have proof. He killed a few people, and the second talking animal, but then I nearly caught him. But by the time we had got there (we of course being me and the fox) all that was there were the bodies of the rats. I saw one rat who had survived, and told him to leave because there was a killer about (don't know why I was talking to a non-anthro rat as if it would understand me. Dream logic) and then my fox killed him. Not even in a fox-like way either. He twisted its neck. Then I got mad at the fox and then I woke up.

So... yeah. I probably need to seek psychiatric help XD
I've had dreams where I'm flying a space fighter and my ship's AI is a talking Raccoon, so yeah.
Haha, that's quite adorable

Well, sort of yeah. She was an AI that was formerly an actual fur. Kind of like GLaDOS, only she wasn't trying to kill me. It was kind of neat.

I have a slightly more... crazy dream to share... I keep having it, well... daydream... while listening to aqua vitae of the future music album. Seriously, what's not crazy about imagining the species you spent the better part of your life, kneeling before the gilded coffin of a five million year old "saint" right before a capitol ship lost around the same time, rises out of the ground... only it's big enough to qualify as the entirety of the western continental hemisphere? And I thought that I had strange dreams. Granted most of them have almost movie like qualities (one even ended with an actual end credits), so they can't be all that original, mostly reused tropes. Quite recently my lovely subconsciousness decided to construct a world from parts of John Carpenter's The Thing, Cthulhu myths (I think), and some sort of “escaped experiment” trope. All this marinated in heavy diesel punk sauce, in a scenery akin to that from The City of Lost Children. Lovely, isn't it? Suffice to say it was not exactly soothing. It could be an interesting RPG setting though.

Re: You know you're a SciFi furry when...
back in 1966, when i was graduating high school, and rather stressed, make that scared shitless, of being drafted into the army, they were doing that then, to kill people and be killed, i had this series of dreams that helped to calm me right down. oh and things worked out, i got into the air force as a cooperative conciensious objector and never had to face combat, just fix radar jammers that were flown on test penetration missions against our own radar defenses. but anyway, in that seires of dreams, i was taking rotc classes at a university on an alien planet where the people were kind of like anthropomorphic bears. i was kind of the little guy among them. but the were really cool and friendly and helpful and really cared about me and each other.
you know this was before i'd ever had much chance to read much science fiction, and long before modern furry was even born. i WAS though, living in a very small town up in the sierra's in northern california where it was very easy to go for long walks by myself in the woods alone to meditate and be with that greater reality that is outside the box of human society.
