[Podcast Design] Codename: Hamera
Codename: Hamera
The dawn is coming in the form of a podcast, but before that can happen we must reawaken the goddess Hamera from her deep celestial slumber. To do that we will need to fashion a prototype podcast first, oh what fun we shall have .
Modules
This is the stroke of genius even if I say so myself . I have decided upon a modular design for each part of the show and in some cases individually contained shows that make up the entire podcast. These will be named an “Uplink” and each have a greek letter after it. In the future individual contributors might even get a module all to themselves; under my editorial oversight of course .
Please note that modules can be added, edited and maybe even removed so this list is hardly final.
Uplink Alpha - The first module, I will personally host this one every time and it will serve as one of the name’s for the podcast (along with SciFiFur.net podcast and any future name.) Uplink Alpha will be an intro, synopsis of the rest of the show and may include light news and discussion.
Uplink Beta - The second module will involve an audio editorial suggested by the community and put together by myself, whatever staff step up to the task and hopefully the person who suggests the subject.
Uplink Delta - It’s all about change! And what’s more fluid and dynamic than some featured furry music? Yes this is the part of the podcast where we select some lucky furry musician to broadcast their work (with consent of course) followed by a light discussion of music in general. [Aside: Personally I can’t wait to hype up Bear McCreary for his work on BSG]
Uplink Gamma - G for GAMES! [video games specifically] This section may include yet more news, reviews and editorials about video games past, present and future. Contributors will vary and we will be sure to cycle between basic video game genre for each episode; e.g. FPS, RTS, RPG, Simulator, MMORPG etc.
Uplink Tau - Science Fiction...fiction. Books! Novels, plays, comics, fanzines, whatever. Here is where podcast contributors get to talk about their favourite writers and each episode will have a new recommended reading material.
Uplink Lambda - The “drama” part of the podcast. I am not all together sure what exactly we will have here, I want to create a separate thread and run a poll on what kind of audio play people might want and this is a programme that may take a looong time to piece together, but for now it’s place is reserved.
Uplink Omega - Wrapping up the podcast. Angry letters from the fans, death threats from other sites, Iscin misplaced his star imploder, the usual wrap-up before a show’s end .
Soo what do I need from you guys? Volunteers, suggestions for each module and of course lots of loyal support [mind control optional] heck you can even suggest an uplink module I may be too tired to think of at the moment! Post and be merry children of the stars...
Codename Hamera awaaaaay!
See you on the flipsyde! [Cuz I’m a kool kat!], Iscin.
P.s. I keep editing this post so remember to refresh and re-read sometimes.

With all this stuff, this podcast will end up being a lot of work, but more importantly, it'll probably be long as heck. I might suggest that some modules rotate in and out to keep it at a reasonable length.
I probably didn't make that clear but THAT is the whole point, depending on how many people are contributing at the time of production, the amount of ideas and when we feel like releasing it modules can be changed around . GENIUS! -Pats self on back-

Ooh, sounds cool. I'll see if I can get Halex for Uplink Delta. Bit of a long shot, cause he's not on FA much anymore, but if I note him he might see it :p

Not quite that cool I'm afraid, unless he's just a really good secret agent and he fooled me!

He's got rid of a couple of his songs (Including my favourite DX) but there are still 4 awesome ones there. The most recent is pretty sci-fi-ish.

I've asked Halex, and he said yes, sortof. He's in the middle of doing a new project at the moment, but when he's gotten a bit further he's gonna sort it out with us. I told him there's no rush, cause it'll be a while before we start recording.
His exact reply is here;
"Hey there! Thanks for the interest! I would be interested in having some music featured but right now really isn't the best time. I'm just about to get started on a new project with another musician and we'll be focusing on cutting a concept album with much better quality music and recording value.
Right now we're still in the early writing phases, but I'll keep you guys up to date as things progress.
Thank you for the interest!
- Halex"

Alright then, that sounds good and promising. I'm not entirely when recording will start actually, it could be quite soon or it could be for quite awhile. The modular design means that production can be started as soon as possible and we will just put together what we can for a first episode once a distribution system is setup.

Have we got any other furry musicians lined up? And for that matter, have we got any furry musicians already on the forum? That'd be useful!

Just Delphai, perhaps Bucktown Tiger (I asked before long ago and he's always said yes to broadcasting his tunes) but I might have to be careful what parody music comes under... probably can't and besides rap is only good when it's funny in my opinion.

Ah, yeah. I'd say funny music'll be fine once we've got properly going as a podcast, but not for the first couple. Hey, now that you're on the forum staff, can you make polls? I was wondering if you could just do a simple yes or no poll to find musicians, and maybe also a "I know a furry musician who's not on the site" or something.

Both excellent ideas! Except I don't think they would get hardly any responses right now and music will be a very small part of the podcast. I would rather focus some energies on coming up with good ideas for audio articles, drama ideas and more. I am also busy exploring the functionality of Google Wave. I am also waiting for my new microphone (expensive one too), the intro song Delphaneous (or however you spell that) is composing and it will probably be worth waiting for Wave's public release at the start of next year since it would be a great tool to use for all of this!
In short; I could spam the place up with lots of "Will you contribute?" and segregate them into each basic category, but we simply don't have enough people here yet to be worth trawling; and I already have this thread for people who are genuinely interested in the podcast and want to contribute.
This is without even addressing the fact that we probably won't have a distribution system for a good few months, so I am using this time to work out my ideas before I go around pestering dozens upon dozens of others one by one looking for theirs.
Iscin, excited but not rushing things

I could do Uplink Omega if you wanted me to.
