Huo nodded, then remembered he was talking to a communicator, and pressed the transmit button.
"Good to hear."
It wasn't what he wanted to hear. What he wanted to hear was the hum of generators starting and the damned dragon infront of him telling him where he could avenge the Melancholy Dementia. But this would have to do.
Though, he was also pleased that this was an achievable task, repairing and re-using the ship. There were so few that they didn't even qualify as a skeleton crew on a ship this big, but at least they wouldn't starve.

Huo regarded the dragon coolly.
"How long have you been out of the GSA? I probably have some information and basic history guides that I can send to your console, probably help you realise how much the GSA has changed."

[Nelle Kozera]

"Well lets see, we have been out of the GSA sense...2309, and by my count its 2734...so over four hundred years, so an historical up date would be in order thank you though i didn't think that a boarding party would keep historical records on them..." The dragon mused a moment later he appeared as an avatar which was animated, a neigh perfect image right down to the clothing. "Thats better..."

"It's a general file, featuring broad histories, more a date chart than anything else. With some contemporary news reports."
Huo shrugs and looks the dragon over.
"It's not perfect but it should serve to tip you off in the right direction." Huo nodded at the avatar instead of the tank-held dragon.
"That looks fairly modern and fashionable... but don't you hold a rank?"

[Arratra]

Some distance from the vessel, a spatial distortion appeared. It was the sort that preceded the formation of a jump window. Three seconds later, the window opened for a fraction of a second, before blinking out of existence. To passive sensors it would seem as if nothing had come out at all; one of the inexplicable drive failures that caused ships to sometimes continue on their course forever.

This, however, was not the case.
"Jump complete, captain," the helmsman said to his captain, who was sitting in a chair not far behind him.
"Stealth protocols engaged," Sensor Ops said, "Engines baffled and running at 30%. We are running silent. Engaging optic camouflage."
"Shields are up and ready to go into cyclonic mode," Damage Control reported, "Bulkhead doors are primed for emergency close."
"Energy weapons are cold, but ready for jump-heat," Weapons reported, "Projectile weapons are primed and ready. Missiles prepped for immediate arm-and-launch."
"ECM and Cyberwarefare suites prepared," Muukhuz, the AI of the Shadow Dragon, added, "The SCION troopers are reporting in. Fighter squadron prepped for launch. We are set for full-scale combat."
"Thank you," the captain, Arratra Drakenguard, said, nodding, as he checked the holographic displays before him. "Bring us about and move towards the object at nine by ten."
"Aye," the helmsman said, using microbursts from the thrusters to turn the ship, which was stationary relative to the ancient GSA vessel, and slowly pushed the engines back up to 30%.
"Watch out for debris," Arratra said, "Our optical camouflage will give us away if we aren't careful."
"Aye."
That was the down side of the light-bending camouflage that the Shadow Dragon was equipped with; if hit by debris, it would send a ripple of static across the "Cloaking field", which gave the ship's location away completely.
"Picking up traces of a modern GSA ship," Sensor Ops reported, "Or what's left of it... She's nothing more than ionised particles and shattered plates now."
Arratra ground his teeth. "All hands, battle stations!" he yelled, "Move fighters to launch position and bring energy weapons up. Sink the thermals into the engines. Bring us down to 25% engine capacity to handle the additional thermals."
"Aye," the crew members said, going about their assigned tasks.
Sensor ops frowned. "We're pushing the redline," he said, meaning the point where all the stealth protocols would be rendered useless by a plume of thermals, "Stabilising... Thermals dropping back into normal stealth range."
He turned in his seat. "Sir, at this range, the GSA vessel will have detected the thermal spike."
"Hail them," Arratra ordered COM, who nodded, and opened a channel on an archaic point-to-point single-beam laser communicator.
"This is Arratra Drakenguard," he said, "Captain of the Dark Core stealth cruiser, Shadow Dragon. Unidentified GSA vessel, please provide identification along this single-beam channe-."
"Sir! Gravitational anomaly!" Sensor Ops said, "Debris of the destroyed ship is being drawn towards something. Acceleration is so slight the computer didn't register it before!"
"Prep the Starlight Dragon," Arratra ordered sideways, forgetting, momentarily, that the COM channel was still open, and capturing everything that was being said on the bridge, "If it comes to it, have Likilia launch and fight. She can manage manoeuvres that would kill me."

"Well, I was a commander before my spine broke in six places...Hmm this is interesting..." He brought up the passive scans again little distortions all over the place. The very age of the sensors and their sensitivity reduced the effectiveness of the stealth systems. "Its odd but it seem light any light coming and if i rewind this a bit..." The image reversed, a miniature sun appeared for a split second lighting up a Dark Core vessel though it was only their for about three frames before disappearing again. "Also my scans are picking up a tight beam communication though my communications array is down till we get power i can play it for you..."

"This is Arratra Drakenguard," he said, "Captain of the Dark Core stealth cruiser, Shadow Dragon. Unidentified GSA vessel, please provide identification along this single-beam channe-."

"If i may ask, who is the Dark Core?" The hologram asked...

Six heavy rail rounds drove themselves into the sublight engines of the Dark Core vessel nearly ripping them from the vessel inwhich the where connected to which was followed by a massive EMP surge...

Huo spent a moment to view the data, and fairly sprinted for his fighter, calling on the comms for his team to grab their asses and scramble.
"General Comm to all pilots! Scramble, repeat Scramble!"
He fairly vaulted into his craft and began the startup sequence. As systems began to run, and the diagnostics check started, he saw the rest of his squadron enter the hangar and race for their craft. Some still fixing the straps for their helmets and oxygen masks. Vernier systems puffed as they tested themselves, adjustible engines flexed their positions to check they could provide variable 'vector' thrust. Weapon systems green lighted. At most this took around 5 minutes in total for all craft to signal ready, and as a group the squadron left the hangar, taking position near the bridge of the GSA vessel.
"Orders follow, hold position, mark Dark Core as hostile on your IFF systems until otherwise informed. Stealth vessel confirmed nearby Dark Core Vessel. If it reveals itself we will engage. Keep passive and active ECM, ECCM, and scanners running."

[Arratra]

The Dark Core cruiser lurched violently, the cloaking fuzzing with static. Alarms erupted around the bridge.
"Shields took the hit!" Damage Control reported, "Dropped the 50% from the hit... EMP has dropped the shields."
"Trace the trajectory of those slugs," Arratra ordered, as the single-beam transmission found the GSA vessel again, "Get us a targeting solution for the cannons!" The sound was captured by the mic and transmitted to the GSA vessel.
"Launch fighters!" he continued, "Get the Starlight Dragon into the black!"

The fighters shot into the blackness of space, twisting around the GSA vessel and then, seemingly, vanishing.
"Optical camouflage failing!" Sensor Ops reported, "Trajectory plotted. Deploying active sensor array."

The stealth cruiser shimmered into existence, still reeling from the tremendous hit. Small ports opened in the vessel, and millions of tiny sensor arrays launched out into space, an invisible cloud around the Dark Core cruiser.
"Dumping capacitor energy into the shields," Damage Control reported, "Shields are back up at 50%... 70%... 90%... Now at full! Capacitors are recharging!"

An absolutely massive vessel dropped its cloak it was nearly the size of the massive if ancient light hugger. Its was drive system was even of similar design. Design, the Dragon from before broke through on an Unencrypted channel but it was a light lagged radio transmission to anyone farther away than the five fighters. "I don't know what your engineer did but I have power..." The old vessel started its long and slow power up process. "I have weapons just tell me where you want to point to them..."

The alien vessel odd where it was another light hugger vessel type vessel. The alien vessel was lined up for a broadside on the Dark Core Vessel from point blank range. Plasma and mass driver based weapon systems began to fire on the Dark Core vessel.

"Captain!" One of the crew members from the bridge of the Shadow Dragon spoke up, "That EMP took out our FTL systems, if we take another EMP there is a good chance we'll be dead in the water..."

Missiles launched from hundreds of missile tubes on the alien vessel heading for the cruiser. Oddly enough a message followed the missiles is was in the standard if dated language of the GSA.

"TAINTED VESSEL YOU SHALL BE DESTROYED FOR TRESPASSING ON HOLY GROUND AS YOUR FORMER DID..."

"Engage Nearlight drive!" Arratra ordered, "Microsecond burst!"
"Engaging!" the helmsman said, complying; the vessel seemed to stretch, then return to normal... only it was now more than 50,000 kilometres out.
"The FTL drive can be repaired," Damage Control reported, "But repairs will take several days, and we would be effectively dead in the water until they are completed."
"Bring us about, five by five," Arratra ordered, "Go bright! Give us 90% thrust!"
He turned his chair to the weapons station. "Engage primary weapons," he instructed.
"Sir? Are you sure?"
"Do it."
"Aye sir."

At the nose of the cruiser, two deceptively small barrels deployed. The tips glowed faintly.
"Main cannon deployed," the helmsman reported, "I have control."
"Fire at will," Arratra said, grimly.
"Aye sir."
Half a second later, twin lances of blue-hot molten metal erupted from the cannon; they sheared through several of the missiles, and scorched by just over the lighthugger.
"Desist immediately," Arratra said over a wide COM channel, "Or we will not offer any further warning shots."

While some of the missiles where destroyed none of them held an explosive charge, in fact each one held a power nuclear warhead which when detonated created the powerful EMP effect which was had him them earlier. Of the fifty missiles that where fired twelve made to within 100 km of the Dark Vessel before detonating their payloads...

Huo started as he recieved the unencrypted message, he quickly made a mental note to teach the dragon modern GSA codes and encryptions and learn the dragon's name if they got out of this alive. His computer systems blipped as they registered the larger ship, Huo quickly forwarded the information and detailed the computer to assign a random code name back to the GSA vessel. Incarnadine was selected to represent the huge vessel. Then the EMP wave hit them, luckily his squadron used GSA biotech and so despite a few non-critical system failures, and the odd glitch they came out relatively untouched.
The fennec touched his comms activator.
"Give me a firing solution, target: The Incarnadine! Sustained fire. If you could jam their comms that would help."
"Squadron, by numbers advance and protect the DCV. Sustained fire on the weapon systems."
With that Huo thumbed the accelerator and boosted towards the alien vessel.

[Arratra]

The vessel lurched violently, but the majority of the systems were buffered; the Dark Core vessel's hyperdrive, however, was rendered completely unsalvageable.
"Sir!" Damage Control said, "The Hyperdrive is going critical! With shields down, we won't survive the blast, even if we eject! We won't get out of the blast radius in time!"
"Give final orders to the hyperdrive," Arratra ordered, "Eject, and send it on a trajectory away from the GSA vessel. Then accelerate on maximum thrust in the opposite direction."
"Aye sir," came from several stations.
"Make ready... Make ready to abandon the ship," Arratra said, regretting having to give the order, "Muukhuz, be ready to upload yourself into my omnitool."
"Sir, there is insufficient room in a standard omnitool... Oh, I see." She sighed, and nodded, "I'll sort myself for the transfer."

The ship ejected the overloading hyperdrive, then accelerated hard away from the about-to-explode device.
"Shields are back up," Damage Control said, looking tense, "diverting power to the rear shielding!"
The hyperdrive exploded, engulfing the area in a globe of plasma. The shields collapsed... and the remaining energy scorched the paint on the rear surfaces of the ship.
"Energy weapons disabled," Weapons reported, "Particle cannon unaligned. We can fire, but the shots will only be of any use at close range."
"EMP oversurge has shorted out shielding," added Damage Control, "Armour plating is intact. Damage to the hull is cosmetic in nature. Crews are already on repairing the shields."
"We lost half our array," Sensor Ops reported, "I'm launching more microdrones to fill the gaps."

(OOC The Shadow Dragon no longer has its hyperdrive. They might be able to cobble one together from spare parts eventually... but it'd likely take months.)

The Hyperdrive when it went critical was between Timeless Undiscovery shielding the vessel from the EMP effects of the blast, it seemed as if the alien vessel deliberately protected the vessel from any damage. But once the blast was cleared the vessel turned again, back to the Dark Core vessel though any scans that penetrated the hull would see that its capacitor had fused together. It was only fifteen second later that they exploded from over-changing each one the small explosions tearing ten foot wide gaps in the ships hull. From holes that small explosions caused the insides of the ship one could see emergency bulkheads closing, this had the effect of the ship losing all weapons but the heading of the vessel suggested that it was on a ramming trajectory with the Shadow Dragon

"Huo, I can't fire on this vessel at this distance without damaging the Undiscovery or you...i'm sending you and that DCV vessel data once its at the mid way point of its journey aim for this area..." It was an exposed opening that helped along by one of the capacitors it was placed between the two very large engines, "Hitting there might cause its drive system to go critical..."

Huo forwarded the information sent to him by Design (though he doesn't know the dragon's name yet) into his targetting computer. The system displayed a hologram followed by a circular point on the hologram, and outlined it directly to his cortex, making it appear to flash red. Directional information and range fingers began to run. Huo felt his pulse begin to race. He toggled his comms and waggled his craft's wings.
"We've got a critical target. Fire full effect, close spread. Standard close and fire pattern."

With that the five fighters closed in a loose circle around the spot that the dragon had pointed out. Huo switched the thrust to full reverse, yanking himself painfully on the acceleration belt as the engines fllipped to face the front. Almost at the same time, all the craft launched their missiles spiralling towards the point. Huo thumbed his gauss cannons up for good measure. Huo then flipped the vector control engines into automatic. As they flew backwards they all began to rotate themselves, to minimise a perfect alignment on their aspect.
This meant that the primary engine which was fixed was supported by two engines on the wing, that had variable directions, allowing the craft to switch vectors rapidly. This was a standard to dodge most fire from enemy ships.

[Arratra]

The Shadow Dragon still had full functionality in its main engines and thrusters, unfortunately for the enemy vessel. And while the energy weapons where offline (the circuit breakers tripped by the EMP oversurge), the ship still had full use of its projectile-based weaponry and missiles.
"Forwarding the target to the fighters!" Sensor Ops said.
"Missile lock!" Weapons reported, "Firing batteries A through D! Cannons firing!"

Laser bursts from the fighters stitched the sides of the enemy ship, as the white-hot shells from the cannons slammed into the hull. Missiles wound around the ship, finding their way into the holes blown into the hull, then detonating.
The Shadow Dragon twisted to one side; although most definitely not capable of the wild evasive manoeuvres of a fighter, she was, nonetheless, able to move her way out of the enemy's trajectory.
"Sir?" Damage Control said, "Ramming targe and forward ramming shields are undamaged."
"Keep them in reserve," Arratra ordered, "Be ready to turn the ship to meet their ram."

(And down goes the vessel! )

The alien vessel had there been a sound that could have been heard one would have herd the sharp noise of metal on metal as its drive systems ripped themselves from the main hull of the vessel. Like the hyperdrive from the Shadow Dragon but like that one, this one when it went critical did not emit a massive EMP surge but a burst of high energy neutrinos to the distaste of the Dragon on the Timeless Undiscovery. "Couldn't this thing blow up in a less messy manor my entire port side sensor array is blinded..." Its voice came across on a radio lagged channel it was another three seconds before his voice was heard again. "Well I don't know about the fly boys but i'm going to thank you for your help... Again on the same light lagged radio channel. "Anyway I have some information for you all of you if your interested and you have the time to come aboard...

There is cheering on the general frequency, which Huo allowed for a while before calling for comms silence. Though he definately needed to update the dragon on the political situation. While GSA and DC weren't enemies... they weren't close friends either. Well, the meeting was on their terms, on a GSA ship. And he figured they needed the dragon's support in this.
The squadron returned slotting themselves into the same bay that they had entered the first time. Huo detailed two to wait in the Bay, and took two with him, heading towards the bridge.

[Arratra]

Arratra breathed a sigh of relief, then said, "Helm, bring the ship around, and move us alongside the GSA vessel. Set for docking."
"Aye, sir," the Helmsman said, bringing the vessel about. The fighter squadron moved in around it, and began returning, via the rear recovery vector.

When the stealth cruiser was in position, it extended a flexible docking tube, which sealed onto the main airlock of the GSA vessel.
Arratra stood up, moving towards the airlock, grabbing his breather helmet as he did so. He locked the helmet into place, and said, "I'm going aboard the ship. XO, you have the deck."
"Aye aye," the ship's XO said, as the airlock opened to admit Arratra through. The docking tube was already pressurised, so Arratra only had to wait for the inner door to close before the outer door opened. He stepped through into the zero-g environment of the tube, and expertly kicked off, moving along the docking tube in one movement until he reached the airlock of the GSA vessel.
"Captain Arratra Drakenguard," he said, "Requesting permission to come aboard." He gripped the side of the accordion-like clear tube to prevent himself from drifting.

[Nelle Kozera]

"Permission granted, please take note that we are under zero G until we begin acceleration." The dragon's voice from before spoke over the radio and the hall acoustic system. The door opened to admit the Dark Core Dragon. "Please follow the arrows..." On the floor a mid sized green arrows where pointing deeper into the old vessel.

"Ah your back..." The hologram from the dragon in the large fluid filled tube appeared again though it seemed gravity only worked for him.... "Once our friend gets here we can begin our crawl back to light speed, and i'll tell you what i learned..."

Huo nodded and then sighed.
"Sorry, the... loss of the ship I served on has made me forget my manners. I never caught your name. We also need to go over contemporary politics. These guys you invited are Dark Core! The GSA isn't 100% friends with them. But we're not enemies either. Also, could you adopt the uniform of a higher ranker? As it stands we're looking rather incompetant. I'm not exactly a big shot in terms of rank, but I'm sure their captain will hold a high rank by virtue of being a captain, military etiquette also states that he cannot be called captain on this vessel. You must refer to him as Major, if he is a captain by rank."

Huo forwarded military etiquette files, and various small informations that he had on the Dark Core to the dragon.

Deck fourteen was locked up tight for the moment. It was the deck that contained the cyro pods for the Timeless Undiscovery While it did happen it was uncommon for crew members to stay awake during the majority of the time spent nearlight travel, and this deck held what was left of the crew. The ship wide power failure had cause the safety systems to kick in though not as planed instead of opening all the pods it shut the life support systems down all but a few pods. This glitch had aloud for the remaining pods to remain active for far longer and now with power at least partially restored the originally designed systems activated. This caused the safty blots to be blown on the remaining pod on deck fourteen. The holographic image of the Dragon appered on the deck in front of the Pod labeled Whitefeather. "Shit, quick thaw....this will be unpleasant..." It said looking around for a moment before one of the support drones grabbed a fresh pair of clothes...

"Its fine, my name happens to be Razel...oh...would you like this then, i find it interesting..." He changed his image to that of a fleet admiral. "Or is it too high up?" The dragon had a lopsided smile on his holographic face.

[Daryn]

It had been a long time since he gave the order to enter cryo-sleep. Back then they were supposed to investigate an artifact of unknown origins. Whatever the case was, he was being thawed out now, and consciousness was slowly starting to return to him.

After a few minutes the pod swings open to reveal the rest of the cryo deck. He tests his limbs and finds that he's able to move, although he's feeling quite stiff at the moment. He shakes his head to try to clear it then slowly climbs out of the cryo pod.

A support drone comes over to him and hands over a uniform and a bottle of water. After dressing and checking himself in the mirror he opens the water bottle and drinks deeply from it.

When he feels as if his voice isn't going to sound like a rough frog he presses the comms button. "Razel, Status report, where are we?"

"If i knew i would have told you already, but suffice it to say we 40,000 light years off course, and i haven't a clue why..." The Holographic image of Razel appeared next the GryFalcon, the dragon appeared in his normal holographic attire white shirt and pants with assorted floral patterns. "Though, we have visitors from our descendants it would seem." Razel went through the spiel of retelling what had happened from the small battle to the modern GSA soldiers.

"Most of them didn't make it..." He pointed to the remaining cryo-pods that remained on deck. "Yours is the only one that made it from this group and the other decks are not responding it might be cause i don't have full power yet though..." He frowned with a sad look. It was his job to watch over the vessel while the crew was asleep...

"But there is a meeting on the bridge between the second ship's captain and the others that came over from before on the bridge in a few moments I suggest you be there..."

[Daryn]

Jon shakes his head at the thought of all those lost lives. It's a thought that he really doesn't want to dwell on though. "I'm on my way up." he says to the holographic dragon.

Sweeping out of the cryo bay, he starts to make his way up to the bridge. "Wait, did you say 40,000 light years off course? The math doesn't add up here..." he shrugs, "We'll figure this out when I get up there."

[Nelle Kozera]

The maglev elevator opened on deck fourteen. "Still don't know, i have been combing over the sensor data for the last few days after i was brought out of sleep mode. It still doesn't make any sense..." The dragon's disembodied voice spoke.

"Huo...The cap is coming down...my captain...so i don't need this..." He said going back to his normal attire.

[Arratra]

The last Dark Core fighter, the Starlight Dragon, did not return to the stealth cruiser, instead curving around and landing carefully in the docking bay of the Undiscovery.
Arratra moved aboard the ship, and sealed the hatch behind him, although it took an amount of fumbling to find the right controls. The docking tube detached, and the cruiser fired manoeuvring thrusters, sliding sideways relative to the Undiscovery. The docking tube retracted, and the protective panel slid back into place.

When Arratra made his way onto the bridge, his armour made it clear that he was not an ordinary soldier or commanding officer for the Dark Core.
"Arratra Drakenguard," he introduced himself, "Captain of the Shadow Dragon. Anything else I might say is on a need-to-know basis, so I need everyone here before I continue."

Huo's face passed from amusement at Razel's choice of uniform, and then to surprise as Razel informed him of the Captain.
"There is still people alive?" He trailed off momentarily then nodded slowly to himself.
"Of course, in a world pre-FTL you would have used Cryostasis etc."
His musing was cut short by the arrival of the Dark Core officer. Almost immediately he decided he didn't like him.
The fennec swallowed an impolite growl and stepped back warily, straightening his flight clothes, aware he was underdressed for a meeting with officers.
He eyed the Dark Core officer, a being that exuded confidence, and arrogance enough to appear on a ship other than his own, and expect his own terms.
In short, a dangerous being.
Huo extended an arm slowly.
Well! He'd show that he could play the game too.
"Greetings Major, I'm Squadron Leader, Lu Xiao Huo, GSA Pilot Corps, I am sure the Captain will be willing to accept your request."
He knew, and he was damn sure the Captain Arratra knew, that Arratra hadn't made a request. But this was politics. And he'd be damned if he'd shame the GSA infront of the Dark Core.
Turn about worked. The Dark Core officer could accept being out maneouvred and accept Huo's counter, or embaress the Dark Core by re-affirming the demands he made.

Jon walks into the bridge and surveys the assembled furs. It's very obvious from his demeanor that he is indeed the Captain of this vessel. He wears that uniform very well.

Jonathan Whitefeather is a rather tall GyrFalcon. He stands at 6' and weighs roughly 175lbs. His last name is rather apt, since he is covered in snow white feathers. When on duty he wears the standard GSA uniform, which he manages to make look good despite the stark color contrast between it and his plumage. One of the most striking of his features are his deep dark eyes that seem to almost absorb the light.

"Good day everyone. Jonathan Whitefeather, I'm the Captain of this here vessel." he glances over at the Dark Core captain Arratra, "Oh, for your information, try not to use a line of sight communication device if you want to maintain Stealth. It sort of points you out." he smiles wryly.

The view on the bridge caused Razel to snicker. The Holographic avatar along with the physical containment vessel stood one behind one another on the bridge. The Avatar looked like a normal winged dragon gold dragon. In the containment vessel floated an eerily similar gold dragon, though plastic tubes with connection ports where running into ever artery and vein though the tubes seemed to be carrying a yellow liquid it wasn't blood by a long shot. But anyone with a medical background could tell it was a type of synthetic blood most likely modified to carry much more oxygen than normal blood. His eyes had no irises or even pupils just white ball but they tracked the Dark Core captain even though they could not see. In the back of his head a mass of connections seemed to plugged directly into his brain the number of connections was nigh impossible to count...

"So we going to get started?" The hologram asked...

[Arratra]

Arratra sighed, and shook his head. "I have my orders," he explained to everyone present, shrugging helplessly, "My identity, my occupation, my training... Hell; even the ship I'm in charge of is classified top secret; need-to-know. If and when we get back to our own galaxy, you can't breath a word of this to anyone else... If you do..."
Arratra sighed.
