Re: Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy
Huo, though still in zero-g, managed a sharp salute at the Captain when he entered. Though as he saluted a number of thoughts buzzed through his head.
Surely the Captain would remember protocol? He hoped the Captain would remember to return his salute. As he did so, he watched Arratra from the corner of his eyes.
Protocol insisted a junior officer salute first. Technically no matter his rank, Arratra was the junior aboard the GSA ship, though this same Arratra had come aboard making demands.
Huo stayed quiet in either case. This was a meeting of senior officers. An airman like him had little to contribute. And perhaps if he stayed more or less unnoticed he'd be able to remain in the room. He nodded at the pilots with him and motioned at the door, who left with a grumble towards the Engineering section.

Re: Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy
"Yeah hang on a moment, I'd rather not turn you guys to pulp. You might feel some initial discomfort, brace yourselves...if you can..." Everyone for a moment would have felt rather off/odd for a moment as the inertial reduction systems kicked in and the ship began accelerating at ten G's but it would still take a few weeks to reach their cruse speed. On the bridge and through out the ship Gravity was returning to the norm of one g. "There we go..." Through out the ship air could be heard moving from one hall to another. "Don't mind the noise. I'm cycling air into the more traveled regions..."
"Now, the interesting bit. While i was in sleep mode the data banks never stopped recording though i have yet to determine why we are so far off course I have found something of interest. That ship that you guys destroyed originated from this system." The entire bridge was flooded with a star map. Show the projected course of the vessel was from a system forty light years out. "Nows here the interesting bit, the passive scanner had been collecting data for the last four hundred years and it seems that their Nearlight drive systems are very similar to ours albeit slower they seem to only be able to reach .8 C. I assume this has to do with poor power generation systems. Now, we can investigate this, though suffice it to say its going to take us forty years to get there though we are only going to witness about two and half years of this journey. And secondly, about your idea about jury rigging a hyperdrive. My on board factory can do a lot of things, but hyperdrives from what the GSA engineer tells me require a special item that can not be built on board this vessel."
"So, here's the choice, We can A. Investigate, or B. plot a course for home, I must say though that even at top speed we won't make back for 40,000 years...."

Huo shook his head in amazement.
"40,000 years? Is there any point then in even trying to return?"
The pilot shook himself, and raised his ears to stop them from drooping.
"I guess we ought to find out how they know GSA-speech even when they don't originate from the GSA, sir."

Re: Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy
Arratra frowned. "That could be problematic," he said, "I was hoping we might be able to scavenge some parts... Technically, we could actually fabricate the parts ourselves given some time and resources... neither of which we actually have here."
"There is a fair amount of iridium ore in the debris here," Muukhuz said through Arratra's wrist computer, "It would be a simple matter to collect the debris with the electromagnetic scoop, as the debris is also heavy in ferrous metals."
The holographic projector on the unit glowed, and then the AI manifested her appearance on the bridge; she was a young dragoness in appearance, wearing a leather catsuit. An eyepiece covered her left eye, and mathematical symbols scrolled down it at high speed.
"Some of the parts we will require will need palladium, which I do not detect in this system. I am, however, picking up a strange signature from the debris we collected from the destroyed ship... It is an unknown element."

Re: Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy
"Hmm, well if you can your ship can collect its debris and bring them in please." Razel asked, "So are we heading for the alien system then, seeing as it would unfeasible to head back home?" The pilot asked, "Tell me now, once I get this ship up to speed its going to take a very long time to change course by anything more than ten degrees."

(Rofl)
"Hey...Thats my Business..." He said looking away before his hologram disappeared for a full moment.
"Alright here we go..." He didn't appear though as the massive star map appeared to fill the room again. "This is where we started over Caprica..." The world was far less developed on image that shown with very little in the way of lighting on the night side of the world compared to its contemporary. "We went along the correct course for twenty three light years until we reached here. " The others in the room aside from the captain and Razel would have recognized this area Aqua Rift Zone, it was a very unstable region of space in the Milkyway though no had been able to explain why, just that ships happened to disappear in the region. "Then my sensors blank for 72 hours and then we are drifting out here at 9 gs for the last for the last 400 years without any form of power other than some small back ups. How we got to point A from Point B is beyond me. Though a natural wormhole my have been the cause, I highly doubt it..."

Re: Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy
Engineering was a mess, superconducting power cables where laying on the floor, plugged into the drive cores. Two engineers where scrambling around with the pilots looking on in confusion. One of the pilots that where helping made the mistake to make a comment towards one of the engineers. That pilot found a useless coolant pipe flying at them. Two engineers made it over to the Timeless Undiscovery it was evident that the chief engineer a male Otter, or the other engineer a female Boarder Collie had very short fuses at the moment. "Sam! Bring that coil over here, Flyboy number 3 grab that Power line and plug it into port 9! NO PORT NINE NOT SEVEN!" The otter was livid and didn't notice the entrance of huo...

Re: Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy
Arratra shrugged helplessly, "I'm a ship's captain and a soldier," he said, "Not an engineer. We'd have to bring the engineers over in one of our shuttles, and right now that's not a good idea. They're working franticly to get our shields operational again."
Muukhuz nodded. "I however," she said, "Have full access to several repair drones, which I can send over to your ship to effect repairs and help with getting the Nearlight drive up to speed."

Re: Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy
"I am not!" Muukhuz shot back, looking disgruntled, "It's not like I can be removed from the Shadow dragon or my processor matrix. Besides which, I cannot feel physical attraction to an organic... even if he is integrated into the ship. I am a synthetic intelligence, not an organic being."
"You know how Doc has a thing for that dragoness engineer on Deck Three," Arratra teased, "And he's a less advanced AI than you are!"
Muukhuz sighed, and shook her head. "I'm sending the drones over," she said, before vanishing.
"Doc is our specialist medical AI," Arratra explained to Jon, "Completely up-to-date on all medical procedures, including advanced longevity surgery and I even saw him perform a flash-clone transplant. The heart, in fact. He has complete control over the ship's medbay, and also has a mechanical body, which stores his intelligence systems. He uses it in emergencies when we can't get the patient to the medbay. The entire medbay is capable of operating without his assistance, and there's a full organic medical crew in case something fails. If we could transfer the sleepers to my vessel, we could revive most of them. Even the ones that have taken severe tissue damage could potentially be saved. Captain," he added hastily, not wanting to seem rude.
"Sorry if I seem a bit awkward," he said, shrugging, "I'm not used to dealing with the crew of another vessel on friendly terms... normally I'm boarding pirate of slaver vessels. Or smugglers, of course."

Re: Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy
"Agreed," Arratra said, nodding, "Oh, by the way, the fighters we have are FTL capable, but only for short ranges; they can manage maybe twenty lights before having to turn back, and they're not capable of synthesising fuel."
Down in engineering, there was a clank as the repair drones hit the secondary airlock, and then cycled through. They were surprisingly small devices, intended for on-the-fly repairs in zero-g environments. But they were entirely capable of handling repairs in environments up to 50 Gs. Almost immediatly one of the three that was there went about splicing cables that had come loose during their millennia adrift.
"Awaiting input," one of the drones said, "What needs repairs?"
Muukhuz wavered into visibility above the drone that had spoken, "These drones have Virtual Intelligence interfaces. Just say what you want them to do... but try to do it clearly, or you might get something fixed that you didn't want fixed that way."

"Um Captain...major...I hate to be the barer of bad news, but that gets us four extra crew mean, most of the crew has had their brains destroyed over the last four hundred plus years. Even if you put their brains back together your going to have to reteach them EVERYTHING. In which they may be more burden than they're worth, the person they where are gone. But if you want to try i'll open the Cyro decks for you when your ready for them. We could hold this option off for later when we will have the time to teach them what is needed to help run this vessel. Just a suggestion..."

Huo approached the otter and shook his shoulder noting the chaos in engineering. He made a note to make it up to his pilots later...
"Easy there, Chief. Captain wants a word with you on the bridge, put one of your juniors in charge."
With that Huo stepped forwards to assist the engineers and work beside his pilots.
Better that than be seen to be doing nothing. This was a team effort damnit. He rolled up his sleeves and mucked in.

"I understand," Arratra said, "My fighter is in the docking bay. I can take her back to my ship."
Barely two minutes later, the sleek shape of the Starlight Dragon emerged from the Undiscovery, travelling the short distance between the GSA ship and the Dark Core vessel.
"I've logged your arrival," Muukhuz said, as Likilia's image within the fighter winked out, having gone elsewhere to interact with the engineers. "Shields are operable again, but only at a minimal level," Muukhuz continued, as Arratra stepped onto the bridge and sat down in his command couch, "They can come up to 10% strength at the most, and even then they're wavering."
"Tell the engineers to canibalise what's left of the hyperdrive for the parts they need," Arratra said, "And put any burned-out parts in the smelter. We'll need the metal later."

The engineer ignored Huo's information for ten minutes as he finished a major repair. "SAM! Make sure they don't screw something up, wing something at them if they do..." He said to her and she nodded the pilot from before looked the other way as the engineer said that. "Gotta learn somehow..." He muttered to himself before he headed to the maglev elevator to the bridge, once the doors closed he collapsed into the corner of the elevator as it headed to the bridge.
It took five full minutes for it to cross to the bridge and when it did the chief didn't want to move when the door opened. "Um...hey Major, and i'm guess your the captain..." The otter pointed to the GryFalcon. "Yeah...your going to need help me up if you want out of this elevator, or better yet come in here..." The Engineer looked severally drained at this moment, and very unhappy.

A nearby COM holopad flickered to life, and a pixelated image of Muukhuz wavered into existence.
"The metals can be reclaimed fairly easily by the repair drones," she said, her voice scratchy with static because the systems were just barely compatible at all, "And we can strip parts from what's left of my hyperdrive to help. There may be compatibility issues, though."
