Tall Tails - Explanation and rules

If you have not, allow me to explain why Tall Tails will not be quite like ordinary RPs:

The concept is pretty simple. We take part in this like it is a normal RP, but whenever we finish one adventure, it will be transformed into a script and told as an adventure story in the forum's podcast XAP by one of the characters who took part in the quest. This means that your characters in this RP will be immortalised in amateur radio for all of eternity!
The actions you take will effect the story not only of the RP, but of the broadcast in XAP. Your characters dialogue will be quoted, and their body language described, and be given a unique voice (This could be you, but if not you can choose a voice artist from all those who wish to do it)

RULES -
(Please read these. It might seem long, but once you're past this, you're pretty much home free)

If you don't want your character's name or description to be used in the forum's podcasts, and if you do not want your posts in this RP to be quoted or used in any way, please DO NOT JOIN THIS RP. By joining and posting in the RP I'm assuming you give me and any voice actors the right to use your character and comments.

NO GODMODDING OR MARY SUES!!! When the adventures are read as a story, they WILL BE EXAGERRATED. All adventure stories are. As such, this RP needs to be mostly realistic. Not gritty realistic, and of course it is science fiction, with the focus on fiction, but anyone going overboard will be left out of the final script.

Do not claim to kill any characters, player controlled or otherwise. You may by all means 'take the shot', or any other potentially fatal suggestion. I, or which ever member is running that particular adventure, will tell you if your character is successful. However, we can't all be James Bond. If we met the baddy and the next person to post blasted him with a laser pistol and was done, that'd make for a very poor story later on.

Character creation:

Your character can be pretty much anything humanoid. Any species, mutant, alien etc. They don't even have to be alive. And by that I mean they could be, say, robots of holograms. I'm not meaning zombies ¬_¬
However, I DO ask that they be not bigger than about 8 ft or smaller than 5ft.

No 'special powers'. If you REALLY want to give your character mind control, teleportation, invisibility etc at least think of a technological reason for this. This is, after all, the future.

An excessive amount about your character is NOT needed. Name, age, home planet (Optional), about a paragraph on appearance, a few hobbies and skills. That's all. Feel free to use the Wiki for your CP, or post it in this thread.

I would appreciate it if your characters could fulfil different roles; eg. Mechanic, hacker, martial arts expert etc. This isn't necessary by any means, but it'd give your character a particular role to play in the final 'telling' of the story.

That's all you HAVE to read. Feel free to go make your characters now, but if you could read these last few points too, that'd be great.

Try to avoid long inner monologues. This is simply because the character retelling the story cannot read your character's mind! Little bits like "This looks big, thought Tony" are fine, but let's not have too much please. You won't be punished for doing this, but it won't be included in the story.

Try to stick with the group. You can leave the main party and have a mega adventure, but as before; it won't be included in the final story if the PoV character doesn't see it. This MAY be used for dramatic effect however. If you sneak off to pop up behind the enemy at a crucial moment, that would make for good story telling, even if all your in-between posts would be ignored.

Try not to be too impossibly cool or clumsy. If you're standing around doing nothing, don't start juggling knives or something stupid (Unless this is a major character trait ) but likewise don't be too idiotic just to avoid this rule. A happy medium if possible please.

That's great, nice example for everyone else to follow! You'll have to be a bit vague on the details involving your universe (Ie the mercury genocide of 2196) but of course the general facts will remain. Used to be an admiral, had a hand in a genocide, etc. Just to stop this being another Sins RP ^^

He will technicaly be the leader of the group, but don't worry. This doesn't mean I'm going to be bossing everyone around. As you'll see if you read his profile, he's a pretty poor excuse for a leader. It's more just a self-assumed title ^^
Anyway, now we have 2 characters, with 2 more in the works. I think I'll wait for about 2 more members to join and make theirs, and we'll be off. Later Tall Tails RPs will be open to more people than that, but as this is sort of the Beta version, I don't want to be too ambitious.

Huh. Thought I'd already replied here before Dusty's comment, but apparently not...
Anyways, it was along the lines of; That's great Pommie, nice CP. And Reaper, I hope you don't think I was asking you to change your CP. I just meant be vague in the roleplay itself by not mentioning the names of specific armies and companies that Dresden has worked for.

Glad you're interested. It's not set in the Sins universe, but the universe it is in is purposely ambiguous. This is just so that every member can have their own say in how the universe works. Assume that everything is possible unless you're told otherwise by the GM

The actual RP part of the post is a little small, but I assure you further ones will be longer and more... action filled
Not all characters need to start in the room, but please be there by the end if you want to be included in the XAP rendition. If not, and you're just using this as an RP, join the main group whenever suits you.

Also, I've updated Barnill's profile after realising how it lacked any real physical description. I was tired when I wrote it... so... yeah >_>
