Roleplay Elders group?

So I've seen this on other forums and I think its a decent idea espicially as we seem to be getting more and more role players.

Basically its a group of the more seasoned Roleplayers from the forums who work to help others who aren't as skilled or are new to roleplaying. Activities can include one on one work with new players, helping newer GM's get their rp on the right track, and possibly monthly or weekly news posts on different aspects of rp courtesy/rules.

I've already suggested this to Reaper and Iscin and they both gave cuatious positive responses so I have decided to throw it to the community at large! What do you all think?

Cautious because we don't have a need for it yet and frankly I would like to solidify and readjust a few things before making any new major changes.
In any case though it is most certainly a good idea and something that we will likely do in the near future Dusty, and of course if Reaper and Slate are too busy I will be considering you be the leader of this group

The moderator is there to make sure rules are followed. The group would be there to help newer players improve their writing/roleplaying.

I wouldn't go so far as to make a separate group, but I do think it's a good idea. Maybe just a marker or special title for RPers who distinguish themselves.

I don't see why we can't have both. Having a user group would only require a couple clicks to see who is a part of it, in case they aren't online, that way the person looking knows who they are looking for even if that person is offline.

It also doesn't seem like something that would be very hard to implement.

My suggestion: Make it semi-exclusive. In order to join, one must first be approved... Though, I'm not sure how it will work out for the first 'Elders'.

Although I like this idea, couldn't you just incorporate the idea into the SFF Roleplayers Guild group?

You do have some valid points. I would personally hope that the players who are selected for elders (maybe a different less leadership term) would have the self-restraint and character not to throw thier title around, and if they do it would be immeadiate removal.

I don't want to the group to be some sort of elitest leadership caste but more like a group of seasoned volunteers willing to help others. Again if a different group name would help alleviate any feelings of superiority or inferiority. Honestly you shouldn't be afraid to ask someone who's clearly been here longer for some help or advice.

Tension is exactly what mods and group leaders don't want, and most of the time its of the other parties creation. Just calm down an realize they arn't some god passing judgement on your life or a police officer trying to frame you for murdering the pope. They're here to help you
