I'd like to make a list of any good furry musicians you guys know of. Could be someone you like, could be a personal friend, could even be yourself.
What I'd like is to have a feature musician each XAP episode. We'd play a song or two of theirs (With their permission of course) and then have an interview with them, most likely one-on-one, but if necessary (Perhaps due to timezone differences etc) they might just answer a typed list of questions we send. However, I'd like a good choice of musicians to pick from. I know there are some fantastic ones in our fandom. I have one of my personal favourite lined up for the future, FA's GSD (He recently changed user and has none of his songs up yet, but trust me, he's awesome), but I'd like a wide selection.
If you know of anyone you think is a good furry musician, just drop a link to somewhere I can contact them (FA page would be appreciated if possible) and I'll do the rest. I won't use anything without their permission, and I'll sort out whether or not they'd actually want to appear on the show, so you guys won't have to find out first!
Thanks for your input so far guys! This is really helpful.
Dusty; Fluffycroc is probably quite possible, being very good, having an interesting direction not taken often in the fandom and also not having a massive fan base. I noticed he said "And if you like this, please tell your friends :3 It saddens me that only a handful of people hear my stuff because I'm not one of the popular kids around here." in one of his submissions, which hopefully means he'd like the oportunity to be interviewed ^^
Slate; similarly, good find, different to what I usually hear, and he seems quite casual, like he'd hopefully be up for something like this.
Borg; Many thanks indeed XD I daren't start that Wikifur list tonight, because I need sleep some time, but it'll definately help. As for your suggestions: Kurrel is good but I imagine would be very hard to get hold of. Certainly not for the first show. Same with 2, although I can keep them both in mind. In fact, getting to interview 2 would be a personal favourite of mine XD
Bucktown Tiger again is a different style to what I usually hear from the fandom, which is excellent. I don't usually like that type of music, but it's so professionally done and some of them are quite emotional (At least as much as rap and hip/hop can be to me XD)
Keep em coming guys, this is exactly the kind of response I was hoping for! Thanks!
Edit: If you want to personally interview any person you've suggested, as you'll likely suggest people you are a fan of, I will try to make that happen, depending on timezones and availability of the person. All I'll need is an example of your mic and talking ability. Confidence and ability to hold a conversation, etc. I am willing to let anyone apply to be an interviewer, so keep that in mind.

I'd like to pimp Matthew Ebel here, also often referred to as Hali of Firpine. He's a sci-fi nut and an osprey. Very talented and very cool guy in general.
I'm surprised nobody's brought up Renard or any of his multitudinous aliases yet (Furries In A Blender, The Queenstons, Azrael, Kitsune^2, etc). I also do a fair bit of music myself, but I'd have to let you guys bethe judges of how good or bad I am.
Thanks for the continued suggestions guys. I'll make a list at the top.
Also; Hali is most definately on my hopeful list, but like 2 and some of the others, I doubt he'd really pay attention to us at the moment. I'm willing to bet those guys get requests similar to this pretty much all the time. Once we make a bit of a name for ourselves though, or at least have something to show them for a bit of quality. I'm hoping we can get our podcast sounding pretty professional if we work hard enough.
As for Renard, he seems like he'd be hard to contact. I can try, but I don't hold too much hope. You're very good, Gusto, and I'd certainly be ok featuring your music, but if possible I'd like to try and get someone with quite a few more fans for the first episode, to try and increase traffic. Sneaky, I know, but I think it might work XD

I have another few musicians to spin your way, huepow00, DJ Comet, Yangwatanabe (he has a project called M37H0D, not sure if he's still at it), Faine and GHDA. Apologies to the slight bias towards electronic musicians, that's just who I happen across
Again, I'm loving the suggestions guys! Not checked out all of yours Gusto, so I'll have to do that later, but I'm thinking Foxamoore would be a very tough one. Professional musician with 4000 plus fans on FA (Most I've ever seen, I believe, certainly for a non-artist) and it's made a little more difficult cause there's already a documentary of him out XD
Wouldn't leave us much to ask! That said, he seems like a cool guy, and it'd certainly get a lot of attention if we managed to interview him. I'll add him to the list for future reference.
I don't particularly want to approach anyone until we have at least one person willing to interview (I'm not counting myself, because I won't be able to be online for most American interviewees, with the time difference)

I might have that covered.
Myself and another sci-fi fanatic are collaborating on a drawing for him in regard to a recent comment he made as to the absence of a specific species in a specific situation. He's also a LOT more down-to-earth than 2.

I'll see what I can do.
Christ, if you managed to get Hali for our first episode I would be forever in your debt XD
We really need to have a few people who can do these interviews. I'd be fine doing them, but as I've said, timezones are a bitch. I assume most interviews will take place after 6 in the interviewees' local time, and if they're American that usually means it's after midnight for me :/
Edit; In response to the video... my brain is asplode now...

I realise I could have edited my last post, but I felt this was kinda important to mention, so I wanted to make sure anyone who'd already read the above post sees this;
If you personally know or have semi-regular contact with anyone we'd like to interview, I'm more than happy for you to ask them yourselves. However, please make sure you:
Ask them if they'd like to be the 'feature musician' in our Podcast.
Ask them if they could be interviewed, and if we can use some of their music.
Tell them it is a non-profit podcast.
Link them to SciFiFur.net, and tell them if they have any questions they can either contact me (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/sliceofdog/) or ask you to pass on the message to me.
Thank them.
This little list should be used no matter how many episodes of the podcast we've put out, but in regards to this first one, if they ask when it will be finished please tell them we're looking at finishing it about May/June time.

I would love to volunteer as an interviewer but I got really bad allergies/sinus infection so I really don't think you want to hear me huffing and sniffing the entire time.
Ok, I have a new person who'd be awesome to interview! Not a musician, but a brilliant (And British) furry animator; http://www.furaffinity.net/user/deezlberries/
I imagine he'd be very hard to get, cause he seems very busy and... well... professional, but who knows? Reach for the stars, eh? :p
Also, I'll soon probably start a different thread with all potential people to interview, not just musicians. I'm thinking we might be able to get some of the guys from Weasel Wordsmith, maybe a group interview if we could; http://www.weaselwordsmith.com/
So get thinking of any artists/fursuit makers/furries who are not musicians you'd like to hear interviewed, or even better, who you'd like to interview yourself! Remember, all I need is a few test lines for mic/voice quality, and you could be interviewing your favourite furs! (If they won't come peacebly, I know some guys... <_< >_> )

Well this is very unexpected. I don't suppose you'd like to be interviewed for one of our podcasts?
Sounds like fun! Let's nut out a time then.
If you're looking for particularly sci-fi themed songs i can raid the archives and supply them. If you hop onto http://ravenspiral.com/ and scroll the player down to find "D.12: The Great Winter", that's one of my more sci-fi-ish tracks.

We're good friends as it happens. Edit: No, not romantically! Just a similar creative sensibility, mutual respect for the other's talent and whatnot.
That's brilliant! I'm wanting to get the Podcast finished by about May/June time, so whenever would be best for you then. We might be a little constricted for time because of timezones; We don't have a massive amount of interviewers, and just as an example it's 2 am here, so I wouldn't be able to do these sort of times.
If you can't make the first podcast, I'd be fine sorting something out for a later episode.
Listening to The Great Winter now, certainly very fitting! I'm thinking the way we'll work it is to have a little clip of one of your songs (Maybe 30 secs or so), have the interview for about 10/15 mins and then play a full song, if you're ok with us using your material that is.
I'm hoping for quite a casual atmosphere in the interview, something that's entertaining to listen to instead of just being a case of "Notebooks out listeners. There will be a test on The Life and Times of Kurrel the Raven after you hear the beep".
And do you think Deezlberries might be interested in an interview too? Not neccessarily for the first podcast, but for a later episode? I'm wanting to really expand and cover all sorts of talent from the fandom.

I'm in UTC+8 here (more people than any other timezone) so probably the best overlap is my-evening-your-morning if such a thing is doable. Otherwise i can probably pull a late one on a weekend to do my-madrugada-your-afternoon.
I like casual interviews but i have a tendency to witter and relate anecdotes which have no point whatsoever.

You'd have to ask the weas himself; you might try noting him on FA. He is a seriously busy guy so i wouldn't propose to speak for him.

Mornings should be doable for me. My study-leave is coming up, so no morning commitments (No one uses study-leave to study anyway )
Any particular dates you'd prefer? I don't neccessarily mean specifically listing single days, but any weeks you'll be free, or holidays coming up etc?

I have no problem with that, I do too. I often try to make comparisons that make sense to me but confuse the hell out of everyone else XD

Yeah, I think I'll do that, thanks ^^
And I understand a lot of people are really busy with what they do. It's just a shame they're usually the damn good ones XD

Sadly no holidays coming up and i'm an early starter at work; Friday evenings would suit me best for a long chat; i can do something short and sweet any evening of the week bar Wednesday and Saturday when people force me to be sociable.
