Re: Solar Divide
Tetra supressed an annoyed chuckle at Goliaths request “Look, if you feel the need for a weapon that badly, there's a weapons shop a few doors down,” She pointed a wandering finger in the direction of the various shops running along the sides of the area “Pick one. I'm sure they'll have something suitable for you” she rolled her eyes as she continued on, twitching subtly at the mention of a Xorog, a past experience would always make her edgy toward the creatures “As nice as organic are...I'll, uh...stick to mechanical...know how to fix 'em if I need. Ya know?”
When the vixen turned her attnetion back to where she was actually going, she found herself face to face with a Collie, and Fang sitting a foot off with his tail flipping happily back and forth as the Collie spoke “Oh, I hope he wasn't too obnoxious, he tends to be very forward sometimes. But yes, the logs say the package I ordered is in the hold of the Red October” she turned as her eyes followed the collies gaze to Goliath “He, uh...kinda found him wandering around by the docks...sorta just followed me since then.” she grinned, showing the couple metal teeth along the right side “What can I say? I got a soft spot for synths!”
~~~~~~
“Oh?” For a moment it would appear as if the badger was giving the gryphon an odd look as he studied the creature “I'll get right on that then” subtly reaching under the counter his paw would come across a pad, a light blue light emanated from under the counter for a moment as the biometric lock confirmed the owner. An image appeared on the screen of the bartop computers momentarily before vanishing once more. System Active. The security systems had switched over from their passive mode to an active scanning mode. “Thank you for the heads up my friend...I'm holding you to that promise though” he smiled. He'd never held any damages against anyone that hadn't been the cause before and he wasn't about to start now either. A small secondary camera rotated down on the bottom side of each turret. Only a trained eye would catch the change in the systems, to a passerby, it would seem as if it was doing a routine sweep since nothing else had moved. He scooped up the various bills, depositing them in one of the drawers in the counter before disappearing in the back. From there, only the serving drones would run in and out of the door now.
Re: Solar Divide
Jax detected the movement in the corner of his vision, and, without making it obvious, he moved so that the turrets were full in his line of sight. He also noted that the Bartender had his hand beneath the counter. His eyes tracked around like the cameras, sweeping over the crowd. As his gaze slid across the bar, his eyes just happened to meet Mel's. In that instant, most would immediately surmise that Jax had no intention of causing trouble, but rather ending any trouble that arrived or started in here. His eyes moved on, tracking over to Tetra, and Fang. Removing his hand from the grip of his shotgun, he stood up and moved over towards them. His blades retracted as soon as he started moving; he was able to work out his tension through the walking.
As he stopped beside Tetra and the collie, he spoke quietly.
"Look captain," he began, but stopped, the back of his neck prickling.
"Just don't call me a boy scout, OK?" he said, turning around.
There was nothing there, and Jax frowned, drumming his fingers on his head in a confused manner.
Re: Solar Divide
Goliath stepped forward until he was eye to eye with Carra, or rather eye to visual scanner, "Sheppard Captain is one to be talking. This platform recognizes the arc blade currently equipped to her personage," he swung his head toward Tetra, "Leaving Tetra Commander in unit Fang's care. This platform will return shortly." Goliath took off at a steady pace to the weapons shop that Tetra had indicated.
Once there he browsed through the rows of weapons, none of them suiting him. He approached the cashier and stared at him, "These models are not suited for my master's line of work, requesting the, quote, 'rare stock.' My master is a wealthy man." The cashier gave him an odd look, then an expression of fear took over as he pressed a button under the table. The store went into lock down mode and the cashier waved Goliath through a door behind the counter.
Goliath followed the small fox that was the cashier into the back and had to restrain himself from being a little surprised. Military grade weapons were hanging from the far wall of the little square room, ranging from pistols to a single small grenade launcher. Rather pleased, Goliath took his time browsing the weapons before picking up a thermal clip pistol and assault rifle, ammo for both of them, and a sniper rifle which generated its own ammo, but overheating would be a problem. Goliath haggled the cashier down to a reasonable price, which was all of the money he had collected over the years for his fictional master.
With a handshake and a "Thank you for your time" to the cashier, Goliath exited the store and got out of eye shot before strapping the assault rifle and sniper securely to his back and the pistol to his thigh area. Opening a small portion of his armored body to his ammo storage, which was just a hollow box in his "stomach," he deposited the thermal clips inside and shut it.
Satisfied, Goliath began walking calmly back toward the Shining Nebula.
Re: Solar Divide
Kaythe frowned slightly at the others hesitation but nodded kindly, "Always good to stick to what you are familiar with in that case." she replied before, "This place have vanilla by cha-" her question was cut off as she swiveled her head to look forward after her ears perked to the sound of her current companion being addressed. Her head then tilted analytically as she looked at the collie. Her shoulders rolled some and her ear flicked at the sound of the synthe near them talking of weapons. 'thing has one stubborn combat prep protocol.' she thought to herself, raising a hand to her horns which hummed in her mind with the buzz of electronics around the station.
The karnation's tail swayed behind her after uncoiling from her waste, the sudden closeness of every one making her a bid nervous. She took a few deep, quiet, breaths as the captain of the October discussed the package with the vixen. For this conversation she payed particular attention. The strange synthe stuck out to say teh least but was not yet her main concern. She logged his model and behavioral data in he memory aid passively. At the same rate she ran a very slow data trance fer from her storage device to her brain of what data she was given on the Red October and it's captain ms. Shepherd.
As the data trickled into her mind she started to relax and took some time to admire the others form. She let a hint of her admiration show to a modest degree as she patiently observed the conversation with a thoughtful lick of her lips.
The collie had a great build and a sturdy stance. The main down side was that her teeth were so delicate looking. No where near as strong of a jaw and teeth set as a karnation or some larger creatures. Kaythe made a point to over look that short coming for now, letting her eyes wonder over the rest of her body. With out being directly addressed, she remained quiet.
Esakare stumbles a little, taken off guard by concentrating on looking at a few other people in the bar more closely rather than keeping a general eye out for anyone. "I'm sorry, what?" He says, unnecessarily loudly, before calming down a little when he sees one or two funny looks. "Uhm... okay? I suppose, that's... that's what... hang on a second, how do you know me? How do you know that I'm the dude you're supposed to be looking for?" He tried to feign an identity other than that which was sought, although he failed miserably.
Re: Solar Divide
Elsewhere on the station, a set of green eyes looked over a set of screens. They showed the shining nebula from one of the Bar’s camera’s point of view. A few lines of text appeared across the screen.
>…Firewalls Broken…<
>…Targeting data loaded to turret # one…<
During the turret sweeps through the bar, one of the dock workers from before sits with a group of people that should have nothing to do with the docks of the Solar Divide, and it was unlikely that they where family or of any other relation…
----
“Right, but we have footage of you accessing the terminal on the docks, the same terminal that had passed an inquiry along looking for your friend in particular at the same time in which the inquiry had taken place. If you don’t want to believe that, the mistress can merely bring you in and question you if you wish to do it that way, but that wouldn't go overso well. But then again you can come along quietly.”
----
“Right, let me think about that for a moment…” She tapped her cigarette for a second while looking at the ground, it was a different one from before that she just produced from one of her pockets. “Naw, I see no point to. Your military, hence you are a Boy Scout. I’m not fond of military that’s a negative point against you already. Secondly you seem to assume you’re the top combat specialist in the Bar and therefore that grants you respect, it doesn't, the mere assumption that it does makes you look like a fool. A true specialist isn't going to flaunt their talent, that’s another negative one. You got a negative two score as of now, and now you come out here and ASK me. You ask me! You must think that asking me to stop something is the way to make it stop, that means it annoys you, and you know what, I don’t like you so far. If you do that redeems you from that stance, then maybe I’ll consider moving you up to something else. For now you are Boy Scout to me, and that is how I will address you. Now, I have legitimate business to attend to, I’m sure you have people to help somewhere or a side walk to clean up or something of that nature.” The Collie looked more than a little irritated.
She turned back to the fox that she was talking to beforehand. “Right, now I think we should take a stroll over to my ship and pick up your package.” She said moving past the fox. The Collies movements where fluid, each step perfectly glided into the next one. She walked with a grace and agility that was not seen in most people as if she had considerable augmentation to her reflexes and agility. It was still apparent, that she lacked any armor what so ever, and aside from the massive (Compared to her stature) Ark Blade in which her carried, she seem to have no other weapons with her. “Oh…” The Collie looked back, “Karnation, did you need something from me?”
The data pad that Phelan had beeped loudly three times before stopping causing the DNA sample section on the pad to light up. Once his DNA was verified a message would begin to decode.
You listened, good bird. Now watch what you have had to deal with had you not listened. Please face Mel’s Bar.
Back at Mel’s the Turret that had been tracking the dock work had suddenly gone off as if given the command to fire. The large caliber rounds tore through the unexpectant Doberman’s skull causing it to explode sending bits and pieces of grey matter and skull fragments fly through out the bar. Next the turret targeted the party of people that the Doberman had been speaking to only a few seconds earlier gunning them down as well. The event had taken less than three seconds to complete leaving six people dead. Once it was done it business the turret had gone back to normal operations scanning the bar as if nothing happened...
Jax's reaction was so fast that his arm blurred; his pistol suddenly shot up and aimed at the turret, but it had returned to normal operation.
"Somebody hacked it," he said, "Someone with high-level access."
He glanced back at Shepard. "Fine," he growled, "Call me what you want. But what we have to do now is find the ones responsible for that," and he jerked his head at the massacre, "And put an end to thi-... Hey, didn't I see you taking to this guy before?" he said, now looking at Phelan.
"Jax?" his mate's voice came over his radio, "Are you OK?"
"I'm fine," Jax responded, bringing his hand up to his earpiece, "But someone hacked a turret in here. Did you sense-?"
"I did..." she cut him off, "Not a location, but this sense of... coldness."
"A cold-blooded killer," Jax growled, "Might just be the guy I'm here for."
Ozzy ducks below the table as the turret goes off. When the shooting stops, he poke his head out from under the table. "What the...?"
He Gets out from under the table and looks to the bodies. He freezes and his tail ruffles at the sight of blood. .oO(Must...not...throw...up...) He manages to tear his eyes away from the sight and crawl back up onto the chair.
As he gets back up to his seat, he pulls out his wallaby plushie. He hugs onto it and hyperventilates for a few minutes before saying through his plushie, "Computer, contact the Gdel and have them look around for security breeches. I don't want that to happen to me..." He looks back to the bodies again and shivers. Still holding the wallaby plush, he stands, and will make his way out of the bar and away from the aberrant turret.
Aquis barely flinched when the turret went off: having gotten accustomed to the crack of gunfire long ago. However: She did flinch when she was showered with Grey Matter and blood: having been seated almost directly behind the unfortunates on the receiving end of the turrets Barrel.
"Argh! Urgh!"
With disgust: she wiped the blood soaked brain matter and skull fragments off her face.
<And I just got clean too...> She thought as she got up and left to wash the blood off before it stained her fur pink.
<Why the hell did the turret go off? If that was another malfunction: I'm going to kill someone...> She thought to herself as she passed a very queasy-looking Ozzy: Still clutching the Plush Toy.
Re: Solar Divide
The place was relatively silent... THe hybrid, the bastard halfbreed, with some pair of unseen eyes somehow watching every move he made, making sure he behaved himself...
Behaved, by some bizarre definition, "well".
He left the restaurant, nervously glancing every which way in the hope that he might catch a glance at a figure out of place, someone eyeing him in the way a stalker might, anything.
But yet, nothing. Not quite enough to let his guard down.
Maybe this was some kind of really tasteless joke, he reasoned. THe data pad hung at his side.
He followed a few meters behind the collie, his eyes checking her hands and her weapon every so often, just in case.
Out of the restaurant came, of all people, the beligerrent dragon from before. He rolled his eyes, and with a soft sigh, closed the distance between himself and Shepard for some meager measure of protection, turning slightly to keep his eyes on his antagonizer.
Much to his dismay, the data-pad beeped, displaying its malicious message.
You listened, good bird. Now watch what you have had to deal with had you not listened. Please face Mel’s Bar.
His heart stopped as he did as instructed.
WIthout much of any warning, the window of the restaurant shattered into a million pieces with a shower of gore, cerebrospinal fluid, bone fragments, and gray-matter.
It took what felt like minutes for him to consciously process what had happened.
FOr as tough of a guy as he defensively portrayed himself, Phelan had never actually seen someone die. He'd seen vacuum-dessicated husks of bodies long exposed to space, bodies partially vaporized by reactor shielding failure, but despite their gruesome nature, none of these were much more than objects to him. Grotesque, but not so much on a psychological level.
THe victim here had been living and breathing, talking with his friends, maybe his family not thirty seconds ago.
It made Phelan's stomach turn. He felt violently ill, unable to tear his eyes off of the mess. THe datapad dropped unceremoniously at his feet, face down.
His ears fell flush with his narrow, avian skull; his talons balling up into fists, trembling violently as they pressed against his beak as his eyes widened in horror.
The gryphon barely registered Jax at all until the implication reached him that somehow, Phelan was at fault.
THe creature stopped, blinking to clear his tears, and looked at his talons. A tiny bit of blood trickled down his thumb-digit from where the datapad had "sampled" some of his DNA. He started to cough, but fought his body's attempt to void his stomach, swallowing back the bile creeping up into the back of his mouth.
His demeanor became slightly less coherent and more than just a little bit more frantic when he finally summoned the will to react.
He turns toward the collie, shouting in a barely-comprehensible tone, absolutely hysterical.
"You! You did this! Didn't you!? Drops in an' tells me all this crock about the computers! And how phenomenally important they were, and expensive! And now this!? Wot's it I get 'fer givin' me own haul to someone else 'fer savin' 'me life!? Thinks this is funny, 'ye does!? I'm not--I'm not 'avin none of it! None of it! I don't want you or 'ye money, not when people like that dog get killed randomly!"
The creature's legs quivered, threatening to give out underneath him. He whirled around, hissing at the dragon. His voice wavered and the corners of his beak quivered; his cheeks were wet with tears.
"And you! You, with the huffy-puffy, mis'er bigshot attitude! YOu think--- YOu think Idid this? YOu think I wanted anything to do with this bloody mess!? SHowin' off 'ye guns like 'ye got no'fin else to brag about, then letting summot like this 'appen!? Look at 'im! Look! At! Him! You sho'ave stopped it! You sho'ave stopped it and 'ye knows it, 'ye does!!! You d'ent do no'fing!!!"
The hysterical creature could barely form another coherent word, his face flushed red beneath his feathers. Phelan continued to blubber away softly, turning away from the small group and taking a few steps, sinking to his hands and knees and vomiting on the floor, sobbing to himself all the while.
Re: Solar Divide
"The fu-?" Jax jumped when Phelan started yelling at him, and blinked several times.
"That is most certainly not what I-. I can't just go opening fire in a restaurant!"
Whoever is doing this is playing with this poor guy, Jax thought, his jaw clenching, This guy might put up a tough image, but he's never killed before.
"Keep your guard up," Jax said quietly, "Looks like we're pawns in some elaborate chess game."
"Jax? ... I ca... you..."
"Bronwen?" Jax said, his hand coming up to his ear again, "Bronwen, you're breaking up! What did you say?"
"Some... I can... ax? J-."
The connection went dead.
"Bronwen? Bronwen!" Jax yelled, as the corvette broke free of the station in an emergency undocking procedure, performing a jump inside the station. The ship somehow managed to transition safely, jumping several light-minutes before transitioning back to normal space. It was a one-in-a-million chance, but the maneouvre had worked; the corvette was well outside the sphere of influence... the only problem was, Jax was not aboard.
"Sh-..." Jax cut himself off before he could finish the expletive, "Someone tried to hack my ship," he said, "My AI performed an emergency decoupling and jumped out. My mate is safe aboard the ship... but I'm in really deep now. No chance of evac until this whole situation is dealt with."
Something vaguely discernible as the voice of the corvette's AI came over the radio, but there was so much interference that the words were completely unintelligible.
Re: Solar Divide
“No Shit Sherlock! Of course it was hacked!” Tetras tail was like a ball fluffed out behind her as she yelled at the dragon, having taken a few moments to react the the blasts. She'd heard vaporcycles backfire, ship engines misfire, rifles, pistols, plasma discharges. But the sound of that turret going off, just frayed every nerve at once. She hurried to the door of the Nebula “Mel?!”
“I'm alright” he waved her down as he pushed his way through the back doorway, she sighed “Where's Fang?”
“He's still outsi--”
“FANG!” Mel barked, pulling up the security programs on one of the bar computers. A system diagnostic appeared on the screen as the canid synth vaulted over the counter, his long tail, just missing clipping a couple stacked glasses “Fang, plug in and get me a trace on that firing command” the synths tail plugged into a specialized port beneath the counter
<Running>
<Accessing port 164793:
<ERROR: Source is access: Data loop created
<Attempting to bypass...Negative...data back loop still present
<Rebooting program...attempting to bypass...
<Reroute and reboot ineffective...resetting sour--
“Oh forget it Fang” he waved him off, Fang carefully shut the program down and pulled his tail free from the port “This is YOUR doing!” he yelled, jabbing an accusing finger at the turret cam, which swiveled to watch him curiously “I know you're behind this! No one else knows how to create a data loop in his systems aside from you!” he pointed at Fang, still glaring down the camera “I thought we agreed you wouldn't use my systems like that again!”
“Melll....who are you talking to...?” she asked leaning on the counter
“an old...acquaintance” he paused midsentence as he caught sight of the mess the turret had made “Tetra...it might be best if you just...go get that Capacitor of yours now...I'll...take care of this here” he types a few commands into the security system, completely locking down any further access's without his biokey
“what'd it hit anyway?” she started to look into the rest of the restaurant, only to have Mels big paw catch the side of her muzzle, and held her head from looking into the rest of the restaurant. Her eyes went wide.
“Tetra, trust me...this is Not something you need to see” everything in his eyes told her something horribly wrong was going on, but that she should trust him “Go...that way...”
“Al...alright” She nodded, and turned to leave, fang trailing at her heels
“well...Mel says he's got things taken care of in there--” she walked out to see the Avian on the ground sobbing “Uh...what happened?” Fang wandered around her, finding the tablet tossed to the side, 'sniffing' it, and nosing it over so he could see the screen. It flashed once at him as the screen went completely dark, not wanting anyone but the owner to see the data. He growled at it, but received no further response from it. He nosed it up, and grabbed it gently between his teeth, and nosed gently against the Avian
Re: Solar Divide
Goliath's audio sensors heard the chatter of turret fire as he rounded the corner to see the window of the Shining Nebula explode. His hand immediately shot to the pistol at his side, bringing the weapon to bear and loading it in one smooth motion. He broke into a run, closing the last few feet with loping strides.
His "eyes" focused first on Tetra to ensure her safety, the to the grieving griffon, and finally the broken window. Stepping carefully into the building, Goliath turned to the massacre and took a moment to process what he was seeing. Identifying the victems, or rather their remains would be an almost impossible task.
Goliath left the gory scene and returned to the group outside. He noticed Fang tapping the griffon, a datapad in his mouth. It was Carra, however that drew his attention. Her calm stance, absolute lack of surprise. Goliath leveled his pistol at her, "Sheppard Captain's behavior suggests foreknowledge of recent event. Civilian casualties are unacceptable. Sheppard Captain will answer the following inquiry: did she play a role in this?"
Goliath's finger was locked mere milimeters from the trigger, giving Carra the full sight of his unblinking visual scanners.
Re: Solar Divide
The Collie yawned as the combat platform pointed its weapon at her. “Well that’s a weighty claim…that I had for knowledge of this event ahead of time, then again there is not even law enforcement on this station. You defend yourself; no one is going to do it for you so if they wronged someone then I’m guessing this was their punishment.” It was at this point she ignored the weapon being pointing at her, it wasn’t the first time a weapon had been pointed at her and it wasn’t going to be the last. Her destination was the avian. She was going to take the data pad from Fang but figured that the robotic dog would have followed her anyway. “Come on…” She said bending over the sobbing Avian, before she picked him up of the ground. She moved him to a bench a few feet away without much difficulty. After letting him sit there for thirty seconds and noticing that he hadn't stopped she removed one of her gloves before proceeding to back hand him across the face and beak. Her next words where slow and low almost inaudible to anyone listening aside from Phelan. “Get…Your…Shit…Together…” She said before moving closer so only Phelan could here, “Now you have a job to do, if a few dead bodies are going unnerve you like this, I suggest you finish as fast possible and run away as far as possible. I’m not your baby sitter though I will help you if you need it but my role in this is not yours. See me later if you need help…”
The Collie stood up and adjusted her long coat as the vixen came back. “Fox, I have your package so its best you come with me now before that turret decides to get into another killing mood.” She said replacing her fingerless glove on her right paw. “And tell your combat platform put his weapon away before I get offended.” She noticed that the Karn had moved closer to her, “Your welcome to come along as well…though I never did get your name…”
---
The mood of the station changed slightly, news traveled fast on Solar Divide. Most people where accustom to people being murdered on the station though normally by murders or assassinations. This was different in that it was killing caused by a something that was meant to protect people. Something that happened very rarely on the station to the point it was almost unheard of with the exception of another isolated incident a few years back. That event was attributed to a powerful hacker, could it have been the same hacker as before? The light on the station dimmed another ten percent…
Re: Solar Divide
By now, Jax was hidden in one of the smaller back corridors, snatching quick glimpses down the corridor. Empty.
"You'd better be right about this," he muttered to his computer. The VI responded, "There is an 86 percent chance that the network pathway leads to this area."
"And the other 14 per cent?"
"The main control room of the station," the VI replied in its emotionless voice, completely unaware of the implications of the words. "A highly improbable point of source for the hack," it added, "Unless the hacker or hackers have direct access to the control room systems themselves. I was unable to enter the control room's systems, however," it continued, "So probability of outside interference of the control room is less than one hundredth of a percentage point. Access from the control centre itself would be the easiest to accomplish, but would require top-level security clearance; something not generally given to hackers."
"Thanks, that helps," Jax muttered, running to the door and hitting the door controls. He spun into the room, levelling his shotgun...
Nothing. The room was completely empty, bar a maintenance access port that had clearly not been moved since the station had been completed.
"Probabilities revised," the VI said, somehow sounding slightly put out, "The panel before us has not been moved in over four centuries, and would require an industrial plasma-cutter to open. Cuts and welds made by such a devise cannot be disguised."
"Probability that the hacker has excellent anti-trace software; one hundred percent," Jax grumbled, "Probably used a different network connection and laid a false trail. Unless they really are in the command structure of this station."
"Input accepted. Probabilities revised," the VI added, "Probability that the hacker has legal high-level clearance: 54%. Probability of being Command-level: 20%"
"Not enough to go storming into the command centre and arresting everyone present as a possible suspect," Jax growled, banging absently on one of the clear pipes that lined the walls, "Besides, they're probably off-duty right now."
"Circumstances agree with your hypothesis," the VI said, causing Jax to jab at the control on his wrist.
"And that's why I normally leave you muted," he growled at it.
The lion simply grunted and nodded, taking another quick look around before hopping off his stool and indicating that he was ready to go. The dimming lights unnerved him a little, but being new to the station, he thought nothing of it. He opened his mouth to ask his name, but stopped himself before making a sound, thinking, possibly, the less questions the better.
He picks up the plushie and will begin to make his way back to the docking areas, unaware of any danger that might be present. He continues towards the socking bays, admittingly at a slow rate because of his size. He aims to get back to the Godel.
THe disheveled gryphon scowls at Shepard, a low growl rising from somewhere in his gut. He stands up slowly, knees still wobbling a bit.
"I hope you die, Shepard. I hope you die, and I hope you rot, you wretched sociopath."
He yanks the scattergun down by the loop in its stock, letting it bounce a few inches off of the floor on the rubberized buttplate, then raising it in front of his body and cocking it up over his right shoulder, before gently petting Fang on the top of the head and taking the datapad.
" 'Ye wants fun an' games wif' people's lives? Go an' buy 'yerself a harem of slaves over at Marlowe's Rock. They'd love your kind there. I'll 'ave nought to do with this, not when innocent people are going to die and 'specially not when there's a very good chance that I'll do the same if I so much as take one wrong step. If 'ye weren't behind this then you'd not 'ave had anything to do with this thing. Don't follow me, I swear to the Guardian I'll put 'ye down if you do."
THe creature waves the datapad, widening his stance just a bit before walking to the nearest garbage can with the intent of depositing the datapad into it immediately, ears swivelling like mad to catch any motion or sound he can with enough time to react, hopefully. He sniffs once, still clearly upset by the scene.
"ANd this...? It's going where it belongs."
He holds the datapad over the garbage can, taking one last look at the screen, secretly worried about new instructions.
(OOC: Sorry, I think I'm partly to blame for the silence, an unexpected Hiatus forced me away from the comp for awhile)
Tetra put a hand on Goliaths gun and firmly pushed down on it "Put it down Goliath, she's right. Solar Divide has it's own kind of justice.as ugly as it seems, it's what keeps the order around here" she let go of the gun and turned to follow the Collie "Now come on, let's just get my part so we can move on from this whole mess already" this day was not turning out at all how she'd ever imagined such a simple task as 'retrieving a package' could ever get
The robotic Canine cocked it's head curiously to the side as it watched the Avian go through it's rant and threaten to toss the device in one of the trash bins. Did the creature not want it? it was given this device, but it shunned it, as though it were the cause of it's pain...yet, it was inert when Fang had looked at it. 'he' cocked his head the other way, running a low level scan on the device. it still read as inert. why was this creature so interested in this functionless device? this only increased the metal creatures interest in it. the long metal tail snaked slowly around behind the can, coiling up and watching the device through the cam lens set into the claw on the end of it's tail, as the canine sat back on it's haunches.
Inside the Nebula, Mel sighed and leaned on the counter, numerous small worker drones scramble around, zipping past his feet in an attempt to quickly clean up the mess and get things running back to business as usual. there were times he really did hate this place and it's ways...such a twisted sense of justice...he pushed off from the counter and disappeared into the back rooms
Re: Solar Divide
It went against everything he had come to understand, but Goliath slowly holstered the pistol. He was designed not to feel emotion, but being a fully artificial intelligence, he had been cursed with enough sentient thought to feel. Outwardly, he was still a calm, unshaken synthetic, but deep inside, at the core of his processes, something akin to anger boiled. The way the gryphon had reacted, he knew the collie had something to do with the attack, and Goliath would have liked nothing better than to shoot her and give the gryphon some measure of peace.
However, not wanting to bring hell on Tetra, he steeled himself behind his logic processes and simply fell in line behind Tetra. However, he watched Sheppard as a wounded cat watches a dog, fingers never far from the hilt of his pistol, but far enough not to draw attention.
[I hope I'm not interrupting anything here, just trying to get involved with some RP. If I am, just let me know!]
Zaraza Grah'n waited patiently at the airlock of the spacecraft he was on. They had docked with the station over an hour ago and they still had not opened the airlock into the station. He finally set down his duffel bag and backpack as he waited. He was a long way from home. He rarely went out into the Outer Rim Confederation but this job payed too well for him to ignore it. He just had to do security until the space freighter reached the station known as Solar Divide. From there, he planned to wait around until he found another job that would take him back into GSA territory.
Several minutes later, the red lights around the airlock finally turned on, signaling that it was about to open. With a hiss and the creaking of gears, the door slowly slid open. He stepped out onto the station and looked over the station's map, looking for a place to stay. There was a hotel just around the corner from where he had docked. Moving through the crowd he entered the hotel and got a room for a few nights. Tossing his stuff into the secure footlocker and the end of his bed, Zaraza felt it was time to relax and get a drink. Before leaving, he put on his darker civilian outfit and his shoulder holster. Putting his large .50 AE revolver with it's eight inch barrel in it's proper holster and taking several spare -fully loaded- loaders as well. Since it felt a bit chilly, he put a jacket on too.
Upon returning into the main corridor of the station, he noticed many people staring at him, not only because of his scale's unusual charcoal coloration, but because he also did not have any wings (odd, especially since he is a Arianrhod Ormr) do to an accident during his childhood. He did his best to ignore those who stared at him as he entered a bar across the street. At one the terminals, he entered in a request for a security/mercenary job before sitting down and ordering a drink. Now, all he had to do was kill time.
Re: Solar Divide
Jaxamar, not paying attention to where he was going, bumped into the new arrival; the sudden departure of his ship had raised alarms all over the station, and the subsequent loss of the trail of the tracker meant that whoever they were, they knew he was looking for them.
"Excuse me," he said absently, frowning at his wrist-mounted display; the VI in his computer was displaying text at him, and he couldn't find the screen power switch.
"Be quiet you!" he snarled at it after a moment, jabbing at the delete command repeatedly; it wiped the text from the screen, but the VI determinedly kept putting it right back up.
"Hrugh!" he growled, covering the screen with his hand, "For crying out loud! This thing's worse than an AI!"
(Sorry! I am back to this RP now. >.>)
The pad in the feline’s beeped almost… angrily awaiting his DNA signature. If pressed it would decode a message.
You are free to discard this little data pad if that is your wish. Though you saw what happened to the Dock Worker that betrayed me, poor guy, never saw it coming, not that he could do anything about it if he did. Shouldn't have tried to hand off my package…which is where you come in should you keep this pad.
A small 2 dimensional map of the station appeared highlighting his current location, a red traced line of corridors led to an area of station just off the Docking Ring where the majority of the cargo on the station was held.
If you plan to keep the pad head to this area, should you choose to throw it away, well as much as I hate slavers, I can make an exception.
Who was this person?
---
A screen near Mel went active for a brief instant show a Bank Transfer of ten thousand credits to Mel’s personal account along with a message.
This should cover any damages.
Underneath it a small red box blinked showing that the line was still open meaning that Mel could send text back to whoever was on the other end of the line, if he so wished.
Isis led the Lion out of the Shining nebula. It was apparent that the station was getting darker. For the moment most of the Illumination still come from the main lighting of the station but it was soon to be only the low level floor lighting on the station. Because their destination was nearly two kilometers away Isis led them to the station’s internal tram system which for the moment was devoid of a tram car. “You have any questions before we see the station’s mistress?” Isis asked shifting his balance from foot to foot.
The nearby terminal notified Zaraza that his request had gotten a single ping. It seemed fairly easy, guard a package till its owner arrived, what was odd about it was that the Job came from station management, though it seemed legitimate it most likely meant that someone had a friend on the command level. The Terminal requested to download it information to the Dragon's neural implants….
“Right, I like the Fox, she knows what she is doing here.” Carra said with a nod, “Alright best we get going, my ship is this way…” She said pointing back towards to the Docking ring of the station which was very close to the Nebula itself making it a short walk to Docking Plate 46 of internal Docking ring of Solar divide. The Red and White hull of the vessel stood out from the normal grays that accompanied most civilian class vessels. The Red October was easily recognizable because it was formerly a Military grade vessel but as with the Galactic Systems Alliance. The Outer Rim Confederation sold smaller class military vessels to the civilians of their nation should they are able to finance such vessels which was apparent that the Collie was able, that or someone had bought it for her. As they approached the vessels the defense turrets activated only to be shut down a moment later as they scanned the captain’s presence which caused the cargo bays to be opened.
“Tetra, what your package look like?” She asked it was apparent that the entire cargo bay the Red October was packed with cargo for others as well as vixens…
"Well..." He asked, keeping his eyes peeled as the station plunged into half-light. He steeled himself and made ready to whip the hammer off his back at a moment's notice. "I have to ask, why the urgency and secrecy?" He leaned against a pillar, arms crossed and tail flicking about tensely.
Ozzy looks to the collie as she passes him on the way back to the docking ring. She Says something about packages, and is heading towards a military vessel. And, she was in the bar during the attack.
"Hmm..." He says, trying to figure out what these coincidences could mean. "Computer, delay my arrival." He says softly to his plushie-aide. He begins to follow along The collie, using his small size to stay out of sight.
Zaraza set his drink down and overpaid the bartender, letting him keep the change. He walked over to the terminal and began reading the job description. Seemed like a typical package watch but the origin of the job was... unusual. Shrugging, he accepted the job and waited for the information.
