They show a great working clip here, but unfortunately it is more than my outdated system can handle. I would like to know how it does with messes and import/export of objects.

Sculptris's mesh editing is more limited than Blender's, but *much* smarter about automatic subdivision.
It saves to it's own format (.sc1), and can export/import Wavefront .obj files, which i have had no problem passing to/from Blender.

Nice thing about this is that it's simple but polished, very easy to pick up. Everything i try to sculpt in Blender (2.5a2) ends up looking like a horrible crumpled spiky piece of crap (nb: blender n00b).
I have yet to get blender 2.5.2a, so I might just lump the two together. It seemed to for for blender2.4.9b and terragen. I generally use the sculpt tool currently for final touch ups. I prefer to use either plane modeling, or extrusion modeling first then exact vertex adjustments, then the sculpting tools.
