Okay, I wasn't sure whether to put this in here or in the Electronic Diversions forum, but seeing as it has more to do with comics I decided to put it here.
Batman Arkham Asylum came out recently and somehow it was never on my radar. I then tried the demo out and was absolutely astonished at how good it was. The folks at Rocksteady absolutely nailed the atmosphere of Arkham Island. This game has moved way up my list of games to buy, and already that list is so long I won't be able to get through it this year.
It. Is. AWESOME!
Seriously, I wasn't too hyped about it, but it's jumped way up to the top 5 games I've ever played. And that's not an easy list to get on, i'll tell you that now
The game itself is varied enough to stay interesting, and there are constant references to Batman trivia, mostly through answering the Riddler's riddles. The Joker's a bit of a shock after Heath Ledger, but obviously it's a return to the more traditional version of him, and in the end it works out much for the better. His constant commentary is hilarious, and he ends up taunting his own guys more than you.
Eg; "You know, they say he eats human flesh. But that's just a rumour. At least, I think it is..."
Predator mode totally makes it, but the fighting system is awesome too. I spend more time in the Challenge mode than in the actual game. But still, it's an incredible game and I'd suggest ANYONE get it. *Fanboy*

*sigh* How much are the PS3s going for now? If I'm going to get this I want to be able to do challenge modes as the Joker as well Batman. Don't get me wrong, I like Batman more than anyone else in the DC Universe but the chance to play around as the supreme psychopath thrown in as a bonus? There's no contest which platform I want this on.

The PS3 is now $300. That comes with a controller and composite cables. If you want HDMI or Component cables yu'll have to get those seperately. You could get an Xbox 360 Arcade for $200, but the 360 version doesn't have the Joker as a playable character.
Whatever version you get it's a really solid game.
The Joker levels are definately incredible, but not worth getting the console just for that. However, if you do, I'd advise ignoring that mode for a little bit and playing as Batman. When you get used to him, move on to Joker. The differences in gameplay are much sweeter that way ^^
