Hey, here's a battleship I'm designing that is still being worked on and is on my FA page. In the actual Model in Bryce, the Cruise missile silos are already attached. I'm just not sure where to mount the Auxilliery Laser Cannons and the Main cannons. I want to mount them on the front end of the ship but not sure about how to place them.

One of the things that's bugging me is the design of the weapons. I'm not sure what to go with. I have a heavy quad chain cannon and a Side mounted Laser cannon in my "Parts" folder but I could easily build a new gun in a new file.

Okay so I've go a good start on the design for the main guns. Would it look right (IMO) to have some of the guns on the engine nacelles and the others on the saucers for full fire arcs. What do you guys think?

That depends what kind of battleship it is really. To me it looks like something that would provide a punch through enemy forces, in which case I thought the following might be appropriate gun placements;

The square blocks indicate lighter fast firing weapons, with the circles being heavier ones for other large ships. The placement on top and bottom is for attacking fighters, and should provide pretty good cover.

However, if you're designing it as a ship that could hold it's own against another large battleship, you'd probably want to focus more on broad-side arms, and if it's more of a fighter obv my placements are next to useless.
Anyhow, hope it's food for thought ^^

The ship is meant to have a full 360 degree fire arc with all silos, lasers, and cannons and was originally built as a law enforcement/escort vessel so being able to hit a fleeing or fast approching ship with Fusion and Canister shells was important (for a description on both here's a link: http://www.scififur.net/forum/showth...r-RPs.?p=10448).
